Presenting the TRIGGER GUARD

With this release, we are launching our newest knee-/shin guard development - the Trigger. The Trigger is designed alongside the characteristics of a soft pad and our best known properties. Increased safety, comfort, fit and function, the Trigger features two asymmetrically designed protective and absorbent pads made of iXS’s XmatterTM open cell compound technology. The asymmetrical characteristics allow for perfect fit alongside any body ergonomics and therefore stays in place perfectly when pedalling. Designed for a more aggressive type of riding, this pad provides a large protection area and covers not only the knee area but also extends towards the lower shin part.

The Trigger fulfills European safety standards and comes in iXS’s typical graphite, tone-in-tone design. It is available in a size range from S-XXL.

The Trigger models manage without hard shells and are therefore light and with its asymmetrical design extremely comfortable to wear. They are ideal for somewhat harder use and, with the integrated Xmatter padding concept provide high impact absorption and protection. With the Trigger we introduce product properties like exchangeable padding, structurally improved AeroMesh of newest generation offering a higher level of comfort and structural strength.

- Xmatter protection foam (exchangeable)
- Asymmetrical design, left and right specifically and individually formed for improved comfort.
- Anatomically formed for improved comfort, flexibility and function

I currently own a pair of IXS knee pads and love them. I'm sure the Triggers are worth trying next

I LOVE my IXS knee pads. The single strap above the calf is genius, and the fact that you can remove the protective foam when washing is great. Durable, comfortable... Best I've owned. I have the version with the zip on the side, so I can slip them on, or zip on and off. Got them on CRC for $80CAD Black Friday deal. Can't recommend them enough.

I really like my Dagger kneepads. Didn't dare yet to ride with pads without a hard shell. But they seem to be good now so if these Trigger pads have similar length and fit as the Dagger, I'm interested.

Had a pair of ixs knee pads, were really comfortable, but the elastic went in them so they wouldn't stay put. If they'd released these at the end of last year, I probably would have got them. Ended up paying through the nose for POC, but also really happy with them and they will hopefully last a little longer.

@oldmanfalling: Yeah, I tore the "squeeze box" of both pads. Not sure if this affects the protection in any way though. If they wouldn't have made it this angular (with these sharp corners) it probably would still have been good.

I know it isn't the be all and end all when it comes to helmet safety, but I'm surprised that brands are still bringing out mid range helmets without MIPS, especially when more budget options such as the Giro Chronicle comes with MIPS for a lot less.
  • + 16
I could care less about mips.
  • + 1
 some people wear helmet cams
  • + 8
 @colincolin: 99.9% dont
  • + 1
Doesn't go to hold the license for lips, allowing for reduced price?
  • + 1
 *giro
  • + 5
 @bishopsmike: Couldn't.
  • + 5
Apart from a slightly different vent layout it looks the same as there current Trail RS helmet. No mention of any better tech in it so no reason to change for me. Goggles compatibility would be nice but without mips and dual density foam technology the cost change over just isn’t worth it.
  • + 7
Trail RS also my fav trail helmet
  • + 1
same here. light, good fit, good coverage... winner. This new one looks killer !!!
  • + 6
What exactly is "innovative/new" about that helmet?
  • + 5
$139 for pads is quite the price tag.
  • + 8
Same price as the helmet... TRIGGERED
  • + 2
 $129........
  • + 3
 @Santamtnbiker: $129 EUR is $147 USD
  • + 5
A helmet with a properly useless visor
  • + 1
Aren't all mtb visors useless? They barely keep the sun from shining on your eyes
  • + 4
Does anyone actually put their goggles on their forehead like that? Seems like they would get real steamy.
  • + 5
I usually go backwards, and put the strap under the visor
  • + 2
That’s a good place to put them later into the ride once you’re wet, cold, and steamy and the goggs are already all fogged up.
  • + 2
I did once , normally put them around my wrist now
  • + 2
Looks like the helmet might now be able to accommodate an adhesive GoPro mount on the centre bridge. Not ideal for GoPros, but great for lights.
  • + 2
Well, this sucks - the outgoing model fitted my tiny pin head perfectly, but they've reduced the number of available sizes and fit range now. Time to stock up I guess.
  • + 1
This is the first time I’ve clicked an article and said “I’m going to buy that”... been looking at helmets all week... this made up my mind.
  • + 2
150 bucks for a helmet that does nothing to try to reduce concussion risk, sweet.
  • + 1
I have owned IXS Trail RS before, didnt fit me right, my head is right at 58cm. SM was too tight, ML too large. Hope this new helmet will have better fit !
  • + 3
I would not use a helmet with Mips. In my view its 100% marketing BS.
  • + 3
Fidlock lock: FUN and function! Can’t wait to undo my new helmet.
  • + 3
On my second trail rs best fitting vented covering bash hat I've owned.
  • + 1
more sizes! the ixs helmets always pinch my fat head. Why not make more than 2 sizes?
  • + 0
I tried on every helmet at the city's biggest bike shop, and the IXS was the best. Never going to appease everyone. I would say, "just go with what works for you".
  • + 1
Best part about the new helmet is the discount on re-upping on another trail rs.
  • + 1
What if my ride includes both normal trails and enduro type stuff, should I bring both helmets?
  • + 2
If it's enduro you need the enduro helmet, which is what I'm waiting for. The AM helmet only works for AM.
  • + 0
@underhawk: If the Enduro trail is difficult, then yes a Full FAce Enduro specific helmet would be advisable to an open faced Trail Helmet.

I have the IXS Trail RS helmet and like it but I also have a Fox Full Face for Down Hill and Enduro riding.

Also have IXS Carve Evo+ Knee and Elbow pads. Love them. Wear the Knee pads everywhere on the bike when off road and the Elbow Pads when doing silly things or hhhhhaaard riding with the Fox helmet.

They breath well, are very comfortable and when on, keep me from falling off Big Grin
  • + 1
They should have called it the "Triggered AF" helmet.
  • + 1
 Hasn’t 661 doing it for a phew years ?
  • + 1
“Fidlock: fun + function” is the helmet’s top feature, you say?
  • + 1
Love IXS goods... will be purchasing the helmet.
