Picture of the Month - February

Welcome to POM, if this is your first time in these parts or are not quite sure what's going on here, let me explain it to you. Picture of the month is a monthly article showcasing the best Pictures of the day from the month before. The order is decided by the Pinkbike.com members. What I do is take the total views and divide it by the total favorites of each image, this produces a "score" and the lowest score wins. It's as simple as that! Want to see the past POM articles? They can all be found here. Now let's get into our top five.

#5 - Despite having a long night with little sleep the night before Dylan was still able to throw it down all day. - R-ocallaghan's Score = 31.751

#4 - This shot of local pro Kenny Smith railing one of the final switchbacks was pretty much the first shot I took of the park, just a day or so after arriving. I took it while on a walk up the hill to find out about a job interview, at this point I didn't even have a bike! He saw me watching and got his roost on, thanks Kenny! - Redrook's Score = 31.209

#3 - First time in 2011 that the boys from south hessia in Germany brought out their bikes again, and met for a session at the fresh shaped h20 trails in Seeheim- Jugenheim. The year is young and it is time to freshen up the skills after a long winter with a lot of snow sports instead. Everybody who was there that day tried new and fancy stuff, riding below the first sun beams of 2011. The results were, happy rider faces, aching bodies, muscles and finally, a lot of massive footage, that was made by Tobias Kachel and his Canon 7d. - Tobias Photografie's Score = 29.453

#2 - This photo requires about 5 attempts because they either do not attempt to completely gone wrong, or the photographer did not manage to do a photo at the right time ... We were very excited, but the weather was getting worse, the wind was increasing at a very difficult jump and this began to rain ... The last possible attempt was a success. - Smoter, with Photograph by Andrzeja Gaika - Score = 29.091

#1 - This shot is from a Knolly shoot on the Shore and it was James first time on the Shore. We were wrapping up the day when James found this little bump in the trail and he asked if we could shoot it too as he liked the way it worked at speed. Needless to say, it worked and this was the last shot from our Shore shoot. - Margus Score = 25.530

For originality definately No. 4, but for sheer beauty and perfection I call POD for No. 2! (although the last one is extremely cool!)
  • + 4

i think they made a great choice for #1 as it shows a rider in natrual terraind and i love that aspect of the sport just love bein up in the woods so it is now my wallpaper great choice guys
  • + 5
The ranking isn't based on the quality of the shots, or anyones opinion really. It's determined mathematically, so it's not a choice. I don't think very many people realize this.

really? i think thats probably the worst there, the lighting/contrast on the riders makes it look really odd and unnatural to me...
still a good concept though!
love all the other shots, and this plain white background is really cool.
  • + 4
I think you're wrong. This picture requires not only creativity but also the effort of all three boys. In my opinion, a round of applause for the photographer that he managed to do such a good picture.
