Sam Pilgrim Shredding Corby

by Jake Davis
Sam Pilgrim riding his new NS Majesty at Corby!Sometime last week Jamie asked me if I wanted to go up to Adrenaline Alley in Corby with him to meet up with Sam Pilgrim. Of course I couldn't turn the offer down, so on Thursday morning Jamie and I made our way up to Corby; bikes, camera gear and, most importantly, food in the back of his car. After a bit of riding Sam turned up and we got down to filming and shooting for about half an hour.

Sam flared this tiny quarter as if it was nothing

A perfect footjam whip on the same quarter

Then lunch came and went and Sam was throwing down for the camera once again, and I got my favorite shot of the day:

photo
Sam throwing down a dialed flair table in the quarter!

And finally, here's Jamie's sick edit from the day. Enjoy!

He is one crazy moffoooo. The filming/editing didnt do him to much justice though in my opinion.

ha yeah thats my bad! sam had a bad back so we had to cut the filming short which is why there are sketchy shots in there and then the editing was done at 2 in the morning when i got back from corby on my computer which can't handle the footage so i could only really watch it after id rendered it lol

i thought the filming and editing were sick man especially in an environment like that.... defiantly worth 2 mins of my life

 but marzocchi is still crap!
  • 5 1
@rwstyle it's so easy to hate on marzocchi because they had a bad run in the late 2000's but the fact is, they provide a cheaper option for the rider who can't afford fox or rockshox and 99% of their products are fine! after all would sam pilgrim ride crap?
  • 3 2
@tsimpson1993 I dont think that you have ever repaired a Marzocchi dj fork.
Every part from the damping system is made from sr suntour and the 4x which sam is riding is light but it breaks down as fast as light...
  • 7 0
You dont exactly chose who sponsors you. If marz offered you a sponsorship i think you would take it...
  • 1 2
@CamHowell I would of course take the sponsorship too because then I dont have to worry. When the fork breaks down I will get a new one soon...
  • 2 0
Exactly. Plus he can get custom forks too.

marzocchi made very good forks when the forks where made in Italy.. but after 2007 they are made in taiwan at the cost of quality so i wouldnt blame you for saying any maz forks between 2007 and 2009 are bad coz they where.
but ive owned maz forks from 2005 06 and back then they where a truly amazing forks company, and i think they've now adressed this quality issue in 2010 as im seeing more and more people DH DJ jumping back on the marzocchi band waggon which is really nice to see =]
  • 2 0
@rwstyle, yeh i've serviced my dj 3's (and my other marzocchi forks) all of which are pre-suntour era so i don't know what the new ones are like to service.
  • 2 0
read Dirt's review of the 2010 and 2011 888s. theyre best dh forks money can buy they said. basically marzo are back on form!!!!
  • 3 0
they aren't shit because they are made in taiwan

they are shit because that is what marzocchi speced for the factory to make

if you really think that the taiwanese workers are less skilled than italians you are very much mistaken. ever seen a weld done by a taiwanese factory? neater than any others

Cool stuff, I didn't know DJ/Street/Park bikes were allowed at adrenaline alley though? Wish I went to see it as it's only 10 miles from me.
  • 1 4
i ride with these guys =]
  • 2 0
why wouldnt they be aloud in the park?, they cause no damage to the ramps compared to other sports and we dont even run pegs so we probabley cause less......
  • 1 1
No idea, but someone told me that you can't ride 24" or 26" there but they were obviously wrong, I'm a roadie/XC'er so haven't actually been myself.
