With four teams and a whole bunch of privateers using their Supreme bikes, it's no surprise that Commencal has arrived to Val di Sole with a substantial fleet of custom bikes. Here are seven examples from across their teams including Camille Balanche's Rainbow bike, a Spanish-themed ride for Angel Suarez and a sunset-inspired colour scheme for Myriam Nicole:
@juliopedro: easiest way to visualize it is to start with the light green rocker link (in the picture). If that link moves (compresses the shock), it pulls the dark green link forward, and the purple one up. The light blue link rotates arounds its upper pivot. And when the purple link pulls on the light blue link, the yellow link gets pushed backwards.
@Blablablup123: Yup, but if the suspension compresses, I just don’t get if the purple one is pulled or compressed. Adjusting it’s length seems to allow to lengthen/shorten the chainstays, but all in all it just looks hyperstatic. Well, obviously it’s not since the bike seems to work, but eh, this armchair engineer wants to know more...
Can anyone explain why some are using lower idlers and some aren't (same with the Sessions)? As they're high pivot idler bikes, there's not much chain wrap on the ring, plus having a lower idler reduces the lower span chain growth. So why not use one? Are the teams short of SRAM chains like the rest of us, so don't have enough links?!
Dunno, but I wonder the same thing. Maybe to improve pedaling efficiency. I dont run a lower idler on my bike because it hit a rock and broke off. Now I just have the upper chain retainer and bash guard.
To improve suspension movement. It's a problem with some dh bikes. Chain wrap should increase under sag anyway and the clutch derailer should manage the tension
I'd say you don't need it with the small DH cassette, but with the huge enduro one you don't have enough spare chain for chain growth so you need the lower guide to have more spare chain/less chain growth, the new Norco Range doesn't have one though, I'll have to check in Linkage how they do it with the huge cassette. So I'd say personal preference in the present case.
@makripper: Woops, I maybe wasn't precise enough, I meant high pivot with big cassette. With a high pivot you usually have more chain growth than a normal pivot because the wheel is moving away from the BB, so while the derailleur cage has enough spare chain for a high pivot with small DH cassette or a normal pivot with big cassette, it's usually not enough for a high pivot with big +50T cassette. I checked the Range in Linkage and it seems to have a bit of negative pedal kickback (-5°, though I drew it with a side picture so not precise), so the chain may be growing up to a point and then shrinking a bit towards the end of travel. Speaking from memory there as I don't have linkage on this computer.

Even Gee's GT fury from like 2016 was sick!
The days of ausi riders flying down on bright green and gold machinery seems to be long gone.
Obviously best dh bike designed to date.
