Update: March 26, 2019: Police officials say grab-and-run thieves had stolen bikes from a number of Southern California shops
BRAIN reports that the brazen thieves who dashed out with a $10,000 Specialized Stumpjumper from IN-Cycle Bicycles in Chino, California, in February, and then ran over store manager Megan Rodriguez with their GMC Sierra pickup truck while making their escape were arrested. Ronald Wolfe, 20, of Frazier Park, California; Kyle Stewart, 27, of Taft, California; and Nichole Stewart, 23, of Taft, are the suspects in the case and will be charged with robbery, conspiracy and attempted murder by the Chino Police department.
The In-Cycle robbery turned out to be a rodeo: Reportedly, Megan Rodriguez chased the suspects on foot and was brutally run over by the female diver of the escape truck, after which, two other shop employees chased down the robbers in a car and retook the bike after the GMC pickup became mired in traffic. Megan, who suffered a number of fractures and head injuries is recovering well. In-Cycle says they considered the incident to be a work-related injury, so she has full benefits, and expressed huge thanks to the cycling community, including neighboring bike shops, who donated over $35,000 to Megan's Gofundme campaign to help with the inevitable burdens she will face during her rehabilitation.

here A bike shop employee in California has suffered serious injuries after being run over by fleeing bike thieves,
Fox 11 reports.
The employee, Megan, spotted two men attempting to steal a $10,000 Specialized Epic at around 4:15pm on Tuesday and gave chase on foot. She was struck when they attempted to escape in a pickup truck driven by a woman. Megan was hospitalized with a broken pelvis, a broken foot and fractured skull.
A second employee, Raul Ureno also chased the truck and attempted to punch through the window. He then got into a separate vehicle, drove after the suspects and eventually recovered the bike.
The three suspects remain at large and the bike store is offering a $10,000 reward to anyone who can help police find them.
The first suspect was described as a white male in his 20s, approximately 5 feet, 9 inches tall and between 185 to 195 pounds. He was seen wearing a black baseball cap, sunglasses, a black Hollister hooded sweatshirt, ripped denim jeans and black shoes.
The second suspect was described as a white or Hispanic male also in his 20s, approximately 5 feet, 11 inches tall and around 165 pounds. He was wearing a white and blue baseball cap, sunglasses, a black jacket with a gray hood, a red and blue flannel shirt, black pants and black shoes with a white lining.
The female driver was described as having a thin build and short stature with brown hair in a bun. She was wearing round sunglasses, a black hooded sweatshirt and red lipstick.
The getaway vehicle was a “blueish gray” GMC Sierra truck with a black paper plate on the rear and chrome detailing on the sides. Police said the truck was missing chrome trim on the left rear door.
A
GoFundMe has been started for Megan that is hoping to raise $25,000 to aid her recovery. The total stands at $16,000 at the time of writing

Keep being Rad Megan. Speedy recovery! Have meal on me during recovery!
People also don't realize there's a fund for victims of criminal attacks. cleverly named "The Crime Victims Fund"
You don't mention what your business is, but I wouldn't doubt its more profitable than a bike shop.
How to properly treat a bike Thief. Even stupid people understand pain.
I can tell you from experience that she will have to fight the work comp insurance company to get them to cover anything. Possibly even have to go so far as getting a lawyer and taking them to court. Our health care system is so messed up it’s not even funny. Greed Greed and more Greed. So Sad.
If you think a bike shop (notoriously low-profit business), with probably only a handful of employees, in California (notorious for doing everything in the gov's power to make small businesses unprofitable) is raking in money but providing second rate insurance... you don't know much about how the world works.
So many people here have made so many assumptions based on zero knowledge of this business, or the relationship between the people who work there. Want to help? Do the Go Fund Me. Otherwise, you're entitled to talk all your shizz, but you're not helping.
Always money for war and guns.
Always money trillion dollars tax cuts for people who need them least.
Never money for education
Never money for healthcare
And part-time and 1099s get no benefits. The last person I hired had not taken a vacation in 4 years and was working a hard 23 hours a week. She asked me "How late do we work on Thanksgiving?"
As you bleat about freedom of choice with health insurance the corporations use that to offer none.
Sounds like some people need to step away from the keyboard and ride a bike.
After reading a few posts I guess my $3000 max deductible with my insurance through my retirement isn’t too bad. I am grateful.
I won't ping on healthcare, but there are hundreds if not thousands of free clinics across the US - if you don't go to one, then there is your answer as to why that type of care shouldnt be forced onto others.
Anyways, all the best to Megan. Get well soon!
Hhmm..I lived under the rule of that woman, the "peoples money" let's call them taxes for fun, she had a hold of in that era, she spent on killing off industry, healthcare (the NHS) the transport system as a whole, education, and most forms of civil rights, among many, many other things for nigh on 11 years!
Fact, she lost her premiership due needing more "peoples money" via a new thing called The poll tax (a tax that demanded the same amount of everyone, whatever there financial means, be they rich or poor) to attempt to continue dismantling said state infrastructure, to then hand it over to private non regulated, overpriced, and totally inefficacious, company's that cared not one jot about weather or not your leg may be falling off, when you arrived at a private hospital for example, as they're interest's were purely profit related, and not a great deal else!
Thankfully she, and her poll tax didn't make it, but she'd done plenty of damage in the process, and its still taking many years of state investment to rebuild from those dark days, even now.
You want to pay though the nose for greedy, inefficient, unregulated healthcare?, your welcome to it mate, good luck to ya with that!
I'm no socialist, but I'll take my healthcare nice and free of a doctor asking me how my bank balances health might be, before they inquire into what may, or may not, be wrong with me, the moment I get though the door.
While your at it, please don't quote Margaret Thatcher, as being the savour of a country you clearly have no idea about.
I do, as I've lived within it all my life, and I can assure you she wasn't!
@Thustlewhumber: I'd imagine your research would have a very different outcome had you done it in Europe where a vast majority of third level students pay little or no money for their education and I dare say, much more that 4% complete the course.
@dirtyrig I don't know where you got those percentages but if you lived in Europe, you should know that most EU countries have a progressive income tax rates. So, while the top end tax rate in some countries can be as high as you state, these rates are usually applied on top earners and only on the top portion on their income, thereby affecting a small proportion of population and not in a way that would negatively affect their quality of life. Additionally, you should understand that these high taxes pay for a lot more than healthcare. Things like social welfare, education (including third level and often higher), childcare, state pensions and a range of other services such as public libraries, water supply etc.
Some time ago, I ended up in hospital after a bad accident, which was entirely my fault and avoidable. I was rushed to hospital where I spent 8 days in total, underwent surgery and numerous tests and it cost me €375. I experienced no delays and the service I got from the medical staff was top notch. I don't have private health insurance. All this happened in Ireland where the healthcare system isn't anywhere near as good and efficient as in some of the other EU countries you named.
So, while I'd love to be paying no tax if it were possible, I'll gladly pay a bit more and have piece of mind that me and my family will be looked after if I find myself in a situation similar to Megan's. You can keep your low income tax, high child care costs, extortionate student loans, high deductibles and keep living that american dream while getting those fat cats richer. I sincerely hope you never find yourself in a situation that might cause you to think I was right.
You understand that we are all human beings. Cheers!
Oh and by the way, your healthcare is not free, it is paid for by general taxation, so how the f*ck is that free?? How much is the VAT in your country by the way 20%, in ours its 0% and our sales tax is between 0% to 10.5% depending what state you live in? Someone making only 6000 GBP in your country has to pay a 20% tax rate, in our country its only 12% and we have no VAT and very low sales tax! Lets face facts, the NHS in your country is almost broke and completely underfunded, why is that? Where's the money coming from to fund it properly, the people, so get ready to pay more down the line! Nothing is free, nothing!
I wasn't even saying our health insurance system is good, but the quality of care in the USA is top notch. If it weren't no one would send their loved ones here to get help when things were really bad. When the only hospitals in the world, that can help you fight certain cancers or rare diseases, only exist in the USA what does that say about your health care system?
We have progressive tax rates here in the USA as well, its no different than Europe. However, when less than 50% of the population of a country pays no taxes at all, where do you think the rest comes from? That's exactly what France is going through right now. Its a bit presumptuous to say that only a "small" portion of the population pays higher rates and it will not affect the quality of their life, are you one of these high earners or are you making an assumption.
You can't compare our universities to European counterparts, they are very different. Our universities have way more services than European ones because most American students travel away from home to go to a university. So our campuses are much bigger mainly because of the size of our dormitories, etc... Some of the campuses in the USA are small cities and hence much more expensive to operate, but you can go to a local state university for a fraction of the cost if you are a resident of that state: www.lawnstarter.com/blog/college-rankings/biggest-college-campuses-in-us
www.theatlantic.com/education/archive/2018/09/why-is-college-so-expensive-in-america/569884
And why do so many other people from all around the world pay to send their children to the USA to get a higher education when the education is free in other countries? Why not send them to Europe instead? www.mastersportal.com/articles/1216/7-reasons-why-students-think-usa-is-the-holy-grail-of-higher-education.html
What happened to Greece with all their entitlement programs? The point is that nothing is free, not even close, no mater how you want to play with the words someone still has to pay for these entitlements or they will collapse, how is that free?
Don't get me wrong, Ireland actually has their act together, not so a few years ago though when unemployment was through the roof!. Out of all the countries in Europe they are one of the lowest taxed, but how can you compare a country of 4.7 million to a country the size of the USA and think its possible economically to follow the same model as Ireland or other European countries with regards to entitlements? Many US cities alone are bigger than your entire country. It is also naive to blame everything on the corporations, our corporations are already taxed more than corporations in Europe, or most places in the world, I don't think its that at all. Our country is made up mostly of small to mid size company's and most are owned and operated by regular people like you and me. They're not all these scary boogy men trying to get over on you, that's fear mongering at its finest allowing us to put the blame on something other than ourselves.
Over regulation in the USA is killing the ability for competition and consolidation to take affect so that a market economy can operate like a market economy should. If they allowed insurance company's to compete throughout the country, the debate would be over and we would pay very little for amazing health care without any of the downfalls that universal health care brings with it, but we love to regulate everything!!!
for the rest of her life
"I lived in Greece and France so I can tell you what I experienced there when I lived there. If you wanted good health care you needed to go out of the system and pay a private Dr. "
Nice bs right here. First using Greece as an example for an European country. Then comparing France and Greece healthcare. Then saying you need a private dr in France...
I'm gonna correct you "I spent holidays in France and Greece and I saw stuff on Fox News, now I'm making up shit lies as if I worked there and spent 20 years paying for private dr."
www.forbes.com/sites/sallypipes/2018/06/11/canadians-are-one-in-a-million-while-waiting-for-medical-treatment/#5dab79c33e7d
Our leaders peddle your system as some shinning example and that is pretty far from the truth.
"Canada's single-payer healthcare system forced over 1 million patients to wait for necessary medical treatments last year. That's an all-time record.
Those long wait times were more than just a nuisance; they cost patients $1.9 billion in lost wages, according to a new report by the Fraser Institute, a Vancouver-based think-tank.
Lengthy treatment delays are the norm in Canada and other single-payer nations, which ration care to keep costs down. "
"TORONTO — When Sharon Shamblaw was diagnosed last summer with a form of blood cancer that could only be treated with a particular stem cell transplant, the search for a donor began. A Toronto hospital, 100 miles east of her home in St. Mary's, Ontario, and one of three facilities in the province that could provide the life-saving treatment, had an eight-month waiting list for transplants.
Four months after her diagnosis, Shamblaw headed to Buffalo, New York, for treatment. But it was too late. She died at the age of 46, leaving behind a husband and three children, as detailed by the Toronto Star."
In citing those numbers in its 2015 report, "Leaving Canada for Medical Care," the organization said difficulties in obtaining timely medical care at home is, increasingly, leading Canadians to seek it abroad. "It is possible [they] may have left the country to avoid some of the adverse medical consequences of waiting for care, such as worsening of their condition, poorer outcomes following treatment, disability, or death," the report says. "Some may leave simply to avoid delay and to make a quicker return to normal life."
Canadians could expect to wait 9.8 weeks for medically necessary treatment after seeing a specialist in 2014, the researchers found, three weeks more than the time physicians considered to be clinically "reasonable."
No one is trying to invade you for any number of reasons, sure. One reason is you’re all so peaceful, loving and above it all. Another one of those reasons is that 80 percent of you live within 100 miles of our border. So an attack on you, it’s in our best interest to have your back. We will be there. Your politicians know that. They can spend elsewhere. That’s all I’m saying.
But that said lets get back to Megan the devoted employee and bike lover... Get well soon Megan!
Not a big deal, man. Just reality. If I were Canadian, I wouldn’t give a rip. I’d sleep well knowing someone else has got this covered, and I don’t have to pay for it. Go about my business of playing hockey and drinking maple syrup.
In New Zealand, we have good (not great) free universal healthcare. And our highest tax rate is 33% for individuals and 28% for companies. The higher tax rates in Scandinavian countries don’t just pay for health care. So saying you’d rather just pay for health insurance is a little bit silly. They have better infrastructure and cheaper (often free) teritary education among other things.
Despite being stifled by taxes they manage to overcome the difficulties associated with loss-aversion to procure what in many states would be viewed as a luxury expense, while in the states most families/individuals would be unable to come up with $500 for an emergency?
Yeah, that sounds terrible.
Nothing wrong for someone to take up Megan's cause and start a GoFund me page. If you don't want to contribute, don't.. but you don't have to be an ass.
Hope you heal up fast, and hope to see you on the trails soon. Hind sight is 20:20, Learn from your experience and next time take a breath and tactical pause before reacting. Risk vs. Gain
Tell me if it is fair or acceptable that a person who worked hard all their life and pays off their mortgage only to get sick and lose their house to pay for treatment? Or their child gets sick? As far as I'm concerned if you have a job and pay taxes you should be able to get medical treatment without going bankrupt.
The above may not be everyone’s cup of tea so I’ll segway with this...
“Capacity” is not an excuse, every human has the ability to achieve the most brilliant version of themself IF they apply themselves. Nobody is going to do it for you. I believe every human has one trait or ability about themself that is worth a million dollars or the world to commend them for. It’s up to them to share it with the rest of us
And also, “opportunity” is also a moot point, we have enough programs in this country to put illegal immigrants through university, we damn sure have enough for the rest of the populous as well. Granted it may not be Harvard you get into, and you’ll still need to get experience under your belt before you can expect 6 figures....but all those facilities are there for the motivated individual by RIGHT. Now the indicufuals that reproduce generations of welfare recipients with no intention to deviate from that lifestyle....well they can just exist feeling a sense of fulfillment and entitlement all on their ignorant own
Capacity is an excuse. At least for those individuals who are not even good enough to be canon fodder according to your army. Maybe, some of those people have reached their potential, and that potential isn't good enough, according to the capitalist society in which they live. Those people need help, and saying they can't have it because you "believe" they have it in them to work harder, be better and achieve more is the pinicle of western capitalist arrogance.
The law dictates a preference for IQ’s above 93, and a prohibition on IQ’s below 81."
So the test, while not exactly an IQ test gives results that have strong correlation to IQ. In fact the army is not permitted to accept more than 20% of total applicants from the 10th to 31st percentile category in any given year. Meaning that, even if your IQ is around 92 as an equivalent of the AFQT test scores, you may not be accepted on that basis alone.
"Trudeau forced to backtrack on open invitation to refugees
Prime minister accused of reducing immigration system to ‘shambles’ as Canada struggles to cope with asylum-seekers crossing border from US on foot"
"As Canadians officials scramble to process and house the new arrivals – turning Montreal’s Olympic stadium into a temporary welcome centre, deploying the military to set up a 500-person camp at the border and setting up a temporary tent city in a small Ontario city – Trudeau has set out to tone down the welcoming image his government has cultivated since taking power."
From other articles:
"Canada Has Its Own Ways of Keeping Out Unwanted Immigrants
The country’s methods of controlling immigration are simply less in-your-face than America’s."
You barely have any crossing in and can't handle it, but you're going to get on your high horse and talk about the millions we have to deal with and pay for?
Did I say I was morally superior, or are you just pulling shit out of your ass like he is?
now myself being in the army, is subjected to the free healthcare system we have. which has its pro's and cons, biggest con being you cannot sue them for malpractice.
example: in 2014 I had my tonsils removed to clear up a sleep apnea problem, 2 weeks post surgery when I was able to look down my neck I noticed I was missing the dangly thing in the back of your throat that controls your gag reflexes (uvula)....long story short, f*cker cut it out by accident and never told me about it. sooooo in turn, there's nothing I can do about it since I signed a consent waiver prior to the surgery. its not biggie, I just make sure to chew thoroughly these days
I'd say you're right about the thieves, though. Once they've injured someone in the getaway, they're culpable for that, too, along with the theft.
I’m thinking Marcellus Wallace style here.
It really just sounds like you've been gargling on some right-wing talking points. And the idea that Canadian doctors don't make a living is laughable.
Federal plus Ontario taxes, Canada, $200K: Take home=$126,200
Federal plus New York taxes, America, $200k: Take home=$127,800
Oh yeah they save soooo much on taxes. Notice it's basically the exact same figure, except Canadians get free healthcare coverage and 'Muricans get the right to shoot themselves in the foot.

WTF Incycle(assuming it's incycle)?!? WHY are YOUR employees chasing after fricken criminals in TRUCKS to save YOUR merchandise?
Repeat after me;
Sorry boss; someone stole a bike...
***NEWS RELEASE***
Three Suspects Arrested for Incycle Robbery
The three suspects captured on video surveillance robbing the Inycle store (12345 Mountain Avenue), then running over a female employee, were taken into custody yesterday in the cities of Frazier Park and Taft.
After an extensive investigation including follow up on multiple leads, Detectives learned that the same suspects were involved in similar burglaries throughout Los Angeles and Orange Counties. This information subsequently led to the identification and arrest of Ronald Wolfe – age 20 of Frazier Park, Kyle Stewart – age 27 of Taft, and Nichole Stewart – age 23 of Taft. During the service of the search warrant in Taft, the 2011 GMC Sierra that was used in the commission of the crime was located and seized along with other evidence linking the suspects to the crime.
The robbery took place on February 12, 2019, at approximately 4:17 p.m. when two male suspects entered Incycle, took a bike valued at $10,000, then fled in a GMC Sierra truck driven by a female. A female employee attempted to stop the suspects and was run over, suffering critical injuries to her head and torso. Images and video of the suspects were captured on store and shopping center surveillance. The suspects were also seen at the Incycle in San Dimas earlier that day, possibly casing the location.
The female victim was hospitalized with significant injuries but has since been released.
All three suspects were booked at the West Valley Detention Center for robbery, conspiracy, and attempted murder.
The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Carrino at (909) 334-3005 or ccarrino@chinopd.org.
Can we burn all 3 of them at the stake? you know... an offering to the Lord of the Bike... Game of Thrones style. All the victims of cycle theft could gather to watch, maybe hold a raffle to win the chance to light the fire. Never underestimate the power of audience participation at a bonfire. Getting people to feel like they are playing a part in the sacrificial process of cycle thieves will give everyone a warm feeling on the inside as well as the out.
Anyway, I digress. Does anyone know what time the 24 hour garage opens? I've run out of papers & could really kill a Kit-Kat.
Sorry about the rant and losing perspective on the important point - I pray that Megan has a speedy recovery and that the criminals receive the swift justice that they deserve.
Employees have guns, and are trained to protect themselves and property.
But this isn't the forum for that discussion.
i have many LEO friends now. they'll be 1st to tell ya, "get trained, dont rely on tus, we need more of you." suit yourself
My heart is with Megan and I'm hoping she makes a speedy and complete recovery from all this. I also hope the local community outs those A-holes as clearly "someone" has to know who they are and perhaps they may meet up with some folks along the way that will straighten their sh*t out (if you get my implication) and then get in front of a judge for charges.
Hope Megan heals up fast! Hope the thieves are caught and I hope everyone goes and rides their bikes :-)
Top marks for the attempted murder tacked on.
Long live free healthcare at the point of access for everyone. Pay taxes for something useful like education, healthcare, infrastructure.
Worker's Comp specifically for California which would provide Megan medical and other benefits.
www.dir.ca.gov/InjuredWorkerGuidebook/Chapter1.pdf
I've seen many bike shops keep all bikes locked to stop grab and go type of thefts. Also seems prudent to have a number of quality video camera's at the shop, and some employee training (to advise an employee that it is not worth risking their health/life over a bike that is covered under the shops insurance). She meant well, but it was the wrong decision. Hope the best for her in her recovery.
Bikes are way too $$,$$$$ these days.
Remember LoJack. Gotta chip these things so this s*** stops happening.
Stealing a bike worth $10,000 and then running someone over is grand theft and, at least, aggravated battery, (both of which, in these circumstances, would definitely be prosecuted as a felony). In that case you're getting 3 years in jail + a $10,000 fine for the assault, a year for the theft, some punitive fines for the assault, and compensation for the theft. On top of that she'll be charged with reckless driving, leaving the scene, and whatever other enhancements could stick.
Awesome news
My lady friend can take down most men I know. She's an ex competitive wrestler, weighs a measly 140 lbs and can easily take down 200 lb grown man.
...I would love to see you talk to her like that.
