Danny Hart Signs With Cube Factory Racing

Cube has confirmed it has signed Danny Hart for the 2021 season and beyond.

The two time World Champion has four World Cup wins to his name and moves to Cube after three years with Madison Saracen. There's not much news around about the move at the moment but we also notice that the team name has changed from Cube Global Squad to Cube Factory Racing.

Danny will be joined on the team by German rider Max Hartenstern.

Bavarian bike manufacturer Cube levels up its mountain bike sponsorship with the signing of Danny Hart and a dedicated Downhill Factory Racing team.

29-year-old Hart exploded onto the elite downhill scene with his now-legendary gold run at the 2011 World Championships. Hailing from Redcar on England's north-east coast, the two-time UCI Downhill World Champion has multiple World Cup wins under his belt. Fondly known as the Redcar Rocket, Hart has made a name for himself as unstoppable on treacherously steep tracks in muddy conditions. In 2019 Danny finished on the podium at every round of the World Cup. Starting 2021, Danny, who with his wife Sophia has just welcomed a baby daughter, will ride for the Cube Factory Racing team under a long-term contract.

Danny joins existing team member and five-time German Champion Max Hartenstern. Max's goal is to make the transition to world elite level and he intends to capitalise on Danny's experience. Max played a key role in developing the new TWO15 series. Last October Cube launched its completely redesigned downhill bikes to mark the UCI Mountain Bike Downhill Worlds: With a super-agile 27.5in alloy version or lightning-fast carbon 29er race bike to choose from, there's a perfect TWO15 partner for everyone.

The first round of the UCI Downhill World Cup is scheduled to start in Maribor, Slovenia at the end of April with the season highlight, the World Championships, due to take place in Val di Sole, Italy at the end of August.

 @glorydh20: He was on Giant for about 4 years?, then mondraker for 3 or 4, then Saracen for another 2 or 3. He doesn't seem to extend, just move on when the contract finishes. Doesn't seem too unusual

 I'm really clutching at straws here, but maybe Saracen were paying mainly in a results based way? ie a tiny base salary and big performance benefits. Could have led to the falling out back in september as he hadn't had any chance to race at all by that point. "planning long term" may mean more of a fixed income/salary and possibly greater involvement in his bike park

I know he spent most of the summer out in Portes Du Soleil, and he was posting vlogs on youtube, and helmet cams from a few races he did.

 @glorydh20: I agree it's likely money-driven. Let's face it, few racers have careers like Peaty or Minnaar. Most are fairly "done" by their mid-30's. So it makes sense to make as much money as possible during your racing career since you really can't be sure what your post-racing income will look like. Maybe the deal will include extra-special pricing on rental bikes at his park? Who knows... a lot of variables and few we're likely to ever know about.

 @conoatBig Grin anny’s father seems to play a very active part in his career. The mans opinions are his business until he broadcasts them across social media etc. Danny is one of the best MTB athletes in the world, he’s a professional his father’s opinions are not!

 Brexit is like leaving an abusive relationship. Moving out will have its struggles and pain points. Sharing rent and groceries is cheaper than going it on your own. However, in the long run, its better for you. You can build new relationships and friendships based on mutual respect. Maybe find someone else to share your life with. It doesn't guarantee happiness, success, and good fortune, but having that opportunity is more important.

 @hamncheez: Yes, that's the point of a collective union. It wouldn't be a very effective mass democracy if only Britain had a vote, would it? If you're interested Google has the answers on how we used to elect our representatives in Europe. Like everything EU-based there are strong arguments either way on its effectiveness.

Our vote isn't so much watered down now as stuffed into a burlap sack and drowned like an unwanted kitten.

 @Linkpin: the leader of EU is not elected by the citizens. That's the beef. You get someone leading this large mass of countries, usually from a small central EU country applying their ideology on the whole area which doesn't work for everyone. A little over half of the UK obviously decided they didn't like that and have left. And after all that malarky we got a deal, some supreme underhand negotiation from Mr Boris, make it look terrible up to the last minute squeezing a deal which actually benefitial to both EU and UK. It will likely be a non event in 10 years time.

 @danielstutt: nobody wins as a result of this thin deal. The next 20 years will be spent trying to rebuild synergies. Stronger cooperation with your neighbours is invariably beneficial. The opposite is invariably true. Brexit was never intended to be good for the British people, but they marketed the f*ck out of it by talking about it like the evangelicals talk about the second coming. Jesus isn't coming and nothing that is happening and is about to happen will resemble what was promised. Apart from fewer EU citizens on your streets (and in your care homes, hospitals and fields unfortunately). And the fish thing was a red herring too - as the industry is finding out. Also, sovereignty isn't and antidote to the poison you and the bees will be ingesting due to deregulation (your wealthy overlords are eternally greatful).

Worked with and made friends with people who were our sworn enemies not so many years ago - showing that humans are capable of forgiveness and respect, especially when we work together.

I have Seen the fantastic benefits to organisations by having a diverse European workforce, and the trade benefits of a free European market. What exactly is this independence and sovereignty you talk of? Perhaps you enjoy one of the highest rates of CCTV surveillance in the world, or how we are leading the world in the fight against covid.

Maybe you agree with the images showing how inward looking people react to fair and democratic election results? We were mislead about Brexit and vulnerable people misinformed - however I respect the result even though I will always be a remainer. I'm a proud Englishman and European citizen, I just hope we can find the right people to get us out of the mess we are in now,

the ideas of liberty, independence, freedom and sovereignty aren't buzzwords for the brainwashed. They are principles innate in humanity. Go read Locke, Jefferson, Hyak, Sowell, et. al..

lastly, to your first point(did that on purpose), the idea of trading with neighboring countries and having ability to travel between them is not in any way incompatible with the idea of borders! Humans are most harmonious and peaceful when borders, language and cultures are strong and independent. Then trust is built between cultures through mutual respect(or division is created through disrespect.). The idea you can mash dozens of incompatible cultures together and sing Kumbaya is asinine.

 @conoat: this "incompatibility" only arises because some see it as being in their interests to stoke and amplify fear of those who are different. Normal, open people from all cultures are potentially compatible. Kids will play and be friends with anyone from any culture. The only thing that will stop them doing so is an adult telling them not to, because......... You fill in the gap.
It is easy to exploit fear of differences to convince people they are irreconcilable. Easier than finding real solutions to improve people's lives, which is why the "asinine" leaders on the increasingly far right get to power and then f*ck up monumentally when it comes to doing something with it.

 @BenPea: I am on the fence tbh about the whole thing. I didn't support brexit and didnt think it should happen. Pre-covid I was visiting Netherlands, France, Germany, Italy, Belgium on a weekly basis, almost 2 days a week I spent in a different country in EU for work and it certainly wasnt in my interests to be out of the EU. IMO, as with everything at the moment, the whole thing has been blown way out of proportion by the media and certain bureaucrats whos agenda it doesn't fit. In the main its going to have very little impact on the majority of people.

Either way now it dont really care as im moving to Canada.

 @conoat: Last time I was in Rome, Dresden, Faro, Grenoble, London, Florence, Morzine, Les Gets, Dijon, Bordeaux, Lacanua or Barcelona - I'm never once felt a mash of cultures rather a fantastic sense of unique cultures and history, amazing reginal food, interesting warm and open people and a sense of independence and freedom. But I'll think about you and your mesh of cultures the next time I'm walking about Middlesbrough or somewhere with rundown streets and building support for nationalist parties island mentality (no disrespect to the North East its just up the road from me)

 Brexit isn't about perceived cultural incompatibility. It isn't about borders. It's about being able to decide yourself how you can trade with the rest of the world. It's about not sending billions of dollars per year to the 3rd most corrupt organization on the planet ( after fifa and the ccp). I would hope the UK would have complete free trade, but I'm not a UK citizen so it's not my right to tell them what to do.

Imagine thinking their negotiating position is stronger now than when it was part of a powerful block to rival the US and China (of which it was a driving force). One of the funniest things is the revisionism of lovers of Thatcher, who conveniently forget that she championed the single market so that they can exploit her reputation as someone who took no shit from anyone. Any amount of logic and rationality causes the ideology off Brexit to fall apart like the first little piggy's house.

It's ok that you have swallowed duff info about the UK/EU relationship. Many people have, even clever ones, thanks to the psychological weaponry I mentioned before and their fetishization of misremembered past glories.
As to your last point, I was born there and have skin in the game so it's hard to see what had been done to people who now enjoy being led by an elitist clown.

I would also note, calling Europe's first half of 20th century 'troublesome' is a bit of an understatement. Yikes.

 One has to wonder, without a top level teammate will he be able to find the limit at races? It seems like you need two top lever riders to test lines in practice. Also it helps to have a teammate capable of winning when trying to be as fast as you can be. No disrespect to the teammate, but I've never heard of him so he's probably not a Greenland or Walker.

 @jaame: One thing I've noticed about Danny over the years is he's always come across as someone who does his own thing. He seems to keep himself apart (whenever Wyn interviews him he's around his motorhome, not the team tent), rather than getting involved with team mates in the way you see with Santa Cruz or Pivot for instance.

 @commental: @jaame: Apparently Danny just does his own thing at WC's anyway, even with a team mate. Always first down the track when practice opens, and almost always just rides practice by himself. I doubt his team mates effect his performance much - other than possibly helping test/develop the bike.

 If you happened to notice, Phil Atwill was on Cube and so was (still is) Max Hartenstern the German DH Champ. Also Remy Metallier was their Freeride Pro. While Phil and Remy are moving on Max will be Danny‘s teammate on Cube. So yes, they have been there all the time, but probably haven‘t had the results to get noticed.

I don't think this is true, as they are only producing mountainbikes.
However in the mtb sector they certainly are one of the biggest brands in Europe, are very well known among the "average customers" and have extensive availability. Here in Germany you basically see them everywhere as they are justifiably perceived as very good mountainbikes (for the masses).

 @jay-me: well sounds like it’s more by choice, right? I wouldn‘t ride one if I got it for free. They have the image of a everyday people bike brand, being sold in millions to yuppies who don’t have a clue and want to try out this cool MTB thingy.
Signing Atwill, Remy and now Hart just shows they want to establish themselves as a serious bike brand just like Canyon and YT did entering the „cool world“ signing all the heavy weights and participating DH, EWS and Freeride events. I would have never dreamed of a German bike brand to participate Rampage one day. Now it‘s 3 already.

I have to say it worked though and you can see the bikes evolving. The new DH bikes don‘t look as bad and people think more about buying when they see Hart flying on it.

Now everbody can have balls as big as Danny‘s.

 It is just scary how little the suspension systems of DH bikes have evolved in the lat 25 Years. KHS was running similar bikes in the Kaprun WC in 1995 or 96
