David Trummer Signs with MS Mondraker

MS Mondraker has today announced the signing of David Trummer for the 2022 season. The 2020 World Championship silver medalist and three times National Champion was left without a team after the YT Mob announced it was 'taking a break' but has found a new home on the Mondraker team.

A relentlessly consistent performer, the 27-year-old Austrian backed-up his 2020 Worlds silver in 2021 with top 20 performances at nearly every round of the UCI World Cup in 2021, along with another strong performance at the World Championships, where he finished 8th.

bigquotesI'm really impressed with Mondraker and the MS Mondraker team. Everyone is so motivated and it’s really nice to see, and the whole passion for racing is so important here. I tested the Summum Carbon and I really liked it. It also fits perfectly with my riding style. I'm really looking forward to racing with it. My goal for the new season is to adapt to the team as soon as possible and logically, after my second place at the 2020 Worlds, to get on the World Cup podium.David Trummer

bigquotesIt's very exciting to have the best Austrian rider on the team, even more so after meeting him in person. Without a doubt David has the head and the ability to be at the top of the world DH races as he has shown these last few seasons. The whole MS Mondraker team is focused on having the best possible racing structure ready for 2022, we will have news at all levels, but the most important is the arrival of David to the family.Miguel Pina, CEO of Mondraker

bigquotesIt is amazing for us to have again the opportunity to work with an Austrian rider. David is a great person, his 2nd place at Leogang in 2020 proved his potential to be a World Cup podium contender. On top of that he has the technical understanding to help the MS Mondraker Team to keep developing the Summum to compete at the highest level of MTB racing - for us, the perfect combination!Lukas Haider, MS Team Manager

 In case anyone was wondering, this is what it looks like when Austrian people smile.

 C´mon, you can do bette. This would be funny if it was a Sam Hill joke. If you´ve ever seen an interview of David, he smiles and giggles more than not. I would rather say, this is David when he tries not to smile.

 @styriabeef: I can only make this joke because I’m German. My wife has plenty of examples of me “smiling” in family photos.

I shouldn’t have presumed to speak for the nation of Austria but you’ve done a great job of illustrating what a robust sense of humour the nation has Wink

 I had a fun time smiling at everyone while visiting Saalbach a couple years ago

 Mondraker: "So David, we would like to extend an invitation to race for our team, and upon signing we would like to provide you with excellent race support, and a ridiculous amount of money, does this sound like something you would be interested in?"
David Trummer: "Yes this is fine."

 @styriabeef: Wow, somebody is salty.

 @obliquemountain: i think austrians go to the basement for a laugh...to their hidden families

 @dh-corn: photoshop

 @obliquemountain: Don't mess with Austrians or else they will start the Third World War. Wink

 @obliquemountain: I'm not even offended and also am always up for a good/bad joke. I just thought it didn't fit to him personally, because he smiles a lot. Anyways, it seems the forum police (likes) have spoken.

 @styriabeef: it’s also a probable inside joke referencing the comments on Katy Winton’s signing with GT article. That seems lost on you.

 @whambat: ah, OK. Didn't get that.

 @funkzander: I am not sure if us Germans are in a position to criticize another nations lack of humor.

 Maaaaaate, we Australians smile all the time Smile

 he signed for 3 years, would be nice to have that not unimportant info in the press release!
  • 5 1
 Should tell that to Mondraker. They're the ones who put out the press release.

 That's how good marketing works

 But will he make it into my Fantasy DH team again this year? I'm staying tight-lipped for now.

 So stoked for him. Can’t wait to see him alongside Bulldog!

 I'm so here for the "taking a break" from YT. Wish that was in the presser, tbh.

(and yes, I'm being hard on YT because they're acting like dirt bags)

 I would like to know where Norton is going to end up.
  • 2 0
 @jmhills: He is racing GNCC for KTM
  • 2 0
 @pisgahgnar: Please tell me this is correct. That would be so class.
  • 6 0
 @jamesdunford: I can tell you whatever you want to hear! Yes.
  • 2 0
 @jmhills: waiting for these announcements is pretty intense!

 As I recall, I thought YT discontinued the team and sponsorship. Not YT Mob… two different entities. Whitely seems like a class act… even though I gave them 6k for a bike, YT has lost my respect after their second “business” move that seems to leave a team high and dry!

 @jmhills: I would love to think some big brands are fighting over him as we speak... but I wonder if he will end up on an Intense with Gwinn?
  • 3 1
 @ddmonkey: I would bet he WON'T land on Intense. He's a potential podium rider and will be keen to find a ride on an equally competitive bike.
In the absence of any obvious candidates, he'll probably be on another new Commencal setup. They've dropped to only having about 12 teams in the WC now, haven't they?

 @chakaping: The suspense is killing me! Smile

 @pisgahgnar: I know that he has been racing MX a lot but many do that in the off season. I am wondering what his DH ride is going to be. Are you saying he is full time moto?
  • 1 0
 @AllMountin: Lets hope not
  • 2 0
 @jmhills: I'm just joking around. I have no idea where he is going, I don't think there have been any real hints.
  • 1 0
 @pisgahgnar: If he has a ride, he certainly is not putting out any sort of information. The MX thing seemed believable as he is putting in a lot of seat time on that.

 Steber posted an Instagram comment "see you on the podium in '22" and some fire emojis. On some workout video. Take from that what you will.
  • 3 0
 @AllMountin: please no. I don’t want Dak on intense.
  • 1 0
 @pisgahgnar: sorry bout yer luck.

 "It's very exciting to have the best Austrian rider on the team" - the current women's dh world champion might have something to say about that
  • 21 2
 What has Myriam to say?
  • 4 0
 @gleiser: She'd agree that Vali is a great Austrian rider and taking out the World Cup overall in her first season was amazing, but she isn't the World Champion.
  • 1 1
 @Mike-Jay: If I was the world cup champion I'd be calling myself the world champion. As long as Miriam wasn't within earshot. What are you supposed to call yourself anyway? 'Yeah not that dh champion... The other one'
  • 2 0
 I'd also deliberately misspell her name... To get inside her head
  • 7 0
 @blackpudding: Valley wouldn't stoop to that kind of level though.
  • 2 0
 @blackpudding: female DH World Cup Overall Winner. Not that hard.
  • 1 0
 @Muckal: rolls off the tongue
  • 2 0
 @blackpudding: that doesn't matter. It's a different title, period.

 They didn’t phone him , they summoned him .

 I can see some good results coming. Got a feeling he's gonna be well suited to the summum and the mondraker team environment.

 All I know about this guy is that Ben Cathro says his name allot and that is probably pretty telling.
  • 3 0
 Impressive that he rides without pedals.
