Wow, this is the biggest news of the day. I’ve heard that she knows that guy to or something.

Was PFP not available for this video, so they had to use a cardboard cutout instead?

 certainly was curious

Anyone seen a BMC out on the trails ?

That's kind of what I was thinking. How are the big brands not knocking down her doors? Instead, she's with Canyon and BMC. It's fine. I'm sure she's getting paid, but it just kind of baffles me.

I see them on occasion in my area. Can't say often, but on occasion. I also demoed the soft tail version a couple years ago and loved the back end, but the front end was dated.

 yes, in NY

 Maybeeeee, ummmmm, never.

Two goofy titles that belong together (Absolute Absalon and Bicycle Manufacturing Company- BMC)

Probably depends on what part of the world you live in.

The BMC road team was one of the biggest budgets in the pro road scene. The guy did it primarily for philanthropy and love of bikes.

Supposedly their carbon frames are amazing, at least back in the day their road frames were really far ahead of most of their competition. But no, I've only seen one BMC mountain bike in my life and it was on the local shop's stand, never saw that guy ride.

I still ride with a BMC Trailfox XX1 29er form 2015, it's a very capable bike and was the only real competitor to the Specialized Enduro 29er at this time. Ti was one of the few 29er with 150mm travel front and rear at this time. While living in Switzerland you will see some BMC on trails, mostly XC stuff but also here you see a lot more Santa, Trek, Speci, etc. on trails. Sad they don't have any proper Allmountain, Enduro Bike in their lineup anymore. BMC is and will ever be a roadie or XC thing in the upper price range.

You guys have never been to Europe, huh?
  • 2 2
@dferixon: I lived in Germany. Does that count? I’m vaguely aware of BMC. I might have seen a few. I’m just surprised a rider of this caliber doesn’t have the backing of the biggest names.

It's her husband's team... has nothing at all to do with who's out trying to sign her. She's accomplished everything she could want to on a personal level so now she's helping her husband expand and develop his fledgling team. Like Lance said, it's not about the bike... she'll be fast on anything. ... and BMC are great bikes for the XC set, fairly common in Europe. Not exactly commonplace among the pinkbike crowd but they're definitely not second rate equipment in the XC world.

@badbadleroybrown: I didn’t know that. Thanks for clearing it up. Makes sense.

I live in LA (SFV) and I see BMCs all the time

@TheR: I guess these type of riders preffer small racing structures in order to keep focused on their own profesional goals, take for example Julien Absalon, he always was part of small teams. No wonder big brands would have them in their ranks but beggars can't be chosers here.

Yes, but it's been a long time. There was a whole team back in PA that used to race on them. There is a shop nearby that carries their road bikes, though.

Didn't see that coming... yeh I did, we all did.

The news is the switch to RockShox suspensions !

SRAM/Rockshox hand in hand mon chum

Everybody saw this coming. Also, the integrated droppers in the BMC bikes look sooo slick.

@bentopi +1 on both. The elliptical cross-section shape of the post should, in theory, lend itself to far less play than circular posts. Tired of posts that eventually develop fore/aft and/or sideways play.

Normally I would expect some skepticism by her team member about 'making the team because of connections'. However, she seems to be a somewhat above-average rider, winning three disciplines simultaneously. There probably won't be much skepticism here... Good luck en hopefully we can have some nice races this year, making up for the debacle that was last year!
  • 4 0
Yeah, she qualifies as somewhat above average.

@RonSauce: seeing the downvotes, the joke was bad, misunderstood or both. Bad start of the year for me Smile

She went to Absolon because they're partners. They have kids together and live together. May be married, not sure. He rode for BMC during the last part of his career.

Haha I went back to this article because my gf and I were having a debate about this. Do you know if they are a couple? I swear I've heard them been called a couple, but wika says he has a wife? Lol confused.

I know the equipment accounts for a small piece of the puzzle but it’ll be fun to watch her on a good bike!
  • 13 11
god dam. she can ride on my team anytime she wants

Wow this one came out of the blue!
