Quiz: Can you Guess These 2021 Bikes From Their Silhouettes

Dec 20, 2021 at 8:46
by James Smurthwaite
Do all modern bikes just look like a Session? If that's what you truly believe then you may have a difficult time with this quiz. We stripped off all branding, colours and decals from these bikes and left you just one way to identify them - the shape of their frames. Some of them are very distinctive whereas others you'll have to look beyond the Horst link and try and find some other details to separate them. We've picked 18 bikes that have been released in 2021 for you to try and identify from hardcore hardtails to redesigned downhill bikes to the waves of downcountry bikes that swept the market in the summer. There are no prizes here just the bike nerdery honour a good score will bestow. Let us know how you got on in the comments.

The images have an issue of autoplaying randomly instead of being manually changed. Please fix Frown thanks

Also my face when I said Santa Cruz and it was the SCOR... I've been had. Absolutely bamboozled

 Same here...on both things!

The derailleur on the Scott Spark doesn`t look like SRAM AXS to me, also it`s an alloy frame. However good illustration of the lack of parts due to Covid
  • 7 0
Yeah it seems like they got the wrong build for the name
  • 12 0
Not all bikes look the same; all oranges look the same.
  • 6 0
Seriously- I wouldn't ride one of those if it made me faster than all my friends and I won it in a raffle. At least they didn't find a way to mess up their hardtails. And why they didn't partner up with Trust Forks to make the undisputed ugliest bike of all time, I will never know. I can say this because I am easily the ugliest male in Southern California. I have the state tournament next week and will let you guys know if I take that crown.
  • 1 1
@pdfork: the California crown may be yours, I'm competing in Utah this month as well, hope to see you at Nationals! Also, a good friend used to ride Orange 20yrs ago, he's buying a new one next week...
  • 10 0
I feel like whoever designs Orange's bikes also drives a Pontiac Aztek.
  • 2 1
 Walter??

So, silhouette is the new black. And if Fox Performance is good enough for a pretty silhouette, there is no point paying more for Kashima. Nor for oil slick or anodized purple. And the anti-mullet dude in the comment section will be stoked to see that variable diameter will now be contained within a single wheel. If you don't like any of this, buy your bike now because the future of mountainbiking looks dark and grim.

This is part of Outside’s sinister plans to harvest our shred data in their unholy quest for dollars. I just don’t know exactly how…
  • 2 0
Ever watch Let's Make a Deal? It's kinda like that only they took the fun out. And sucked the souls of all the audience members. And there are no prizes. But otherwise the same. Make sense? Good.
  • 6 0
I got all of them down to the SCOR, which I thought was a Shimano part number.
