 It really is.

Ha, tried to start running a few years ago... the boredom was overwhelming. So started trail running... had to up the trail difficulty to keep it interesting... then I was like “why don’t I just ride my bike”. Went full circle.

 You can't jump running shoes

I know it keeps you healthy but god, at what cost?

I despised and mocked running forever. Then I took up trail running a few years back when I was stuck in an area with trails so tame that riding my bike just made me depressed. It took a while for my body to acclimate, but once it did I started to crave running. Audiobooks and podcasts take care of any boredom. I've since moved to an area with excellent MTB trails but I still run often, especially in the winter. Riding will hands down always be more fun but I came to truly love what trail running does for my mind and body.

 Running hurt knees. Ride Bikes.

I mean, have you guys tried WALKING?? Jeezus, it's horrendous.

@BiNARYBiKE: meh. Sounds just as lame as running on a treadmill watching TV.

To paraphrase Woody Allen, “running is not a sport. It’s what you do to catch the bus” and I don’t take busses.

Woody Allen said ”Swimming is not a sport. It’s what you do to keep from drowning.”

@chyu: that is such a myth. Running huge mileage, or EVERY single day with no recovery time is what injures the cartilage. But any activity can injure you if overdone. Runners do to tend to overdo it though. The actual data is that running keeps your knees healthy, as long as it’s just every other day ( or even less frequent if your older) so the cartilage can respond to the stress and regenerate. However, cycling can be done more often without knee Injury, because it’s lower impact. I run 2-3 times a week, ride once or twice a week, also some weightlifting. I’m 49. More running and less riding when it’s hot and dry and trails are blown out(SoCal).
If I DONT run, my knees tend to hurt as well as my back. Cross training is healthy!

Unpopular opinion: Running is a nice change because your moving slower and have the opportunity to take in more of your surroundings. Been trail running for a while (which has actually helped me take in and learn alot about my local trail networks), but started running around neighborhoods lately and have been discovering alot about my town.

That being said...relatively speaking, compared to riding my Megatower full blast down my favorite local trails, its pretty boring.

 @BiNARYBiKE:
When our trails are closed the cars with trail nerd stickers still show up. Trail runners don't come to work days.
  • 1 1
@Ktron: I bet you don’t really believe that. Do you enjoy spinning on an exercise bike as much as you enjoy mountain biking? The difference is near that big with trail running vs. treadmill.

@fruitsd79: ...and thus running is lame? Not sure I see your point. Plenty of mountain bikers are guilty of those same things where I live. Does that mean mountain biking is dumb? I know I’m not going to get on Pinkbike and convince a bunch of people to take up running. I’m just saying someone who has never given it a chance may find out It’s actually pretty cool and great cross training. Contrary to popular belief, you can legally enjoy both.

@islandforlife: I only run trails which are impossible to ride with mountainbikes. also alpine hiking is something completely different
  • 1 2
@badbikekarma: until you tear your Achilles tendon, a known problem for older runners.
  • 3 1
@Beez177: yeah I know. That’s for 65ish and up. Calf-ups all the time time to keep it strong! May stop after 65, but mtb as long as I can
  • 1 1
@Tiez: Alpine running looks kinda fun ngl

@DaFreerider44: They say white men can't jump...maybe true, but luckily that does not apply on mountain bikes. Send it....

@liammullany: But ya gotta inject the bleach everyone knows that!
  • 2 0
@liammullany: I drank a cup of bleach when I was a kid. Thought it tasted kind of funny, but I was fine otherwise.

Something really cracks me up when Micayla busts out her acting chops. I'm pretty sure I know a few female MTB athletes who've said exactly her lines. Also, the trainer practice was hilarious.

 Can confirm.

I definitely have more trail built in my neighborhood sized backyard than I used to, and definitely have made courses in the driveway with cones and sidewalk chalk to “entertain the children”.

Good stuff as always IFHT ????.
  • 3 0
All you guys living in the PNW area can't complain. The good trails are everywhere and you can access them. It's much harder for those of us that relies on summer travels to get some good quality riding done.
  • 5 0
Best line "oh my god running is boring"
  • 2 0
Lol. This is classic. Whose jumps are those at that house? Is that someone on the IFHT team?? Those are no joke sendy!

Fwiw you guys should do a movie. Kind of like "Broken Lizard group" and Super Troopers!

Great video, I loved it. Going to see if my family gets any of it (probably not) Thanks so much! Will definitely show my kids (who will LOVE bikes, I assure you) when I have any, and when they ask me about the Corona someday in the future...

@MikeyMT: Off topic, why is it that all CEO's look like rubber masks on a mannequin? Seriously, that face looks straight out of Team America.
  • 2 0
@Fix-the-Spade: the atificial huminoid protien structure disguise is never enough to stop the reptillian face from being visible
