Video: Fabio Wibmer Hits a Huge Stair Drop in his New Apparel Launch Edit

bigquotesAfter dealing with my foot injury over the past 7 months it felt absolutely amazing to be back on the bike, filming with my friends and team. The concept was in our heads for quite some while. I'm a big fan of Motocross and also BMX. And I really wanted to make an edit which combines those three different types of riding on two wheels. True to the motto and slogan Create Playgrounds - we want inspire people to make everything their Playground. Bringing this idea to life in the streets of Frankfurt with my mates Viki Gomez and Kai Haase was awesome!. Fabio Wibmer

That's Viki. One of the best flatland riders of all time.

I'm really impressed! He's an artist!

@thegoldfi: Viki need to wear a helmet or he may be one of the top stretcher riders. If nothing else, do it to show the kids that you are influencing.

Yes, yes, I know you are crazy talented and too cool for helmets but Billy in the neighborhood may not be. I can attest to the lack of talent as I have utilized my helmet for its purpose many times.

@sandiegotrent: He told me that he never hit his head in his life Wink

 @flairmotion: Not that he remembers!

@flairmotion: I used to ride flatland quite a while ago (Chad Degroot era in his early days), and it is rougher than you think. I wore shin pads practising and still got cut up and bruised a lot, or slammed to the ground. You tend to fall onto the bike sometimes (ah, so many nights spent in multistorey car parks). Still OK with no helmet though.

@sandiegotrent: the old "do it for the kids" guilt trip. It's not some random pro riders job to raise other people's kids, lazy parents put that on to others for their own convenience.
  • 7 1
@nyhc00: I have 2 kids. I don't disagree with you. It's my responsibility to make sure they do the right things. I'm not one of the pinkbike commenter trolls that complains about prices or virtue signals at every turn.

But, I've seen many bike crashes, severely damaged helmets, and news stories about people dying without helmets. This dude is crazy talented. One crash the wrong way and he's done. Seems like an unnecessary risk.

We all also know that a 12 year old boy watching this might want to imitate. He might wear his helmet to the park and then take it off to try to show his friends that he's just like the guy in the video.

I just feel like the influencers have some responsibility when they intentionally attract (and profit from) a certain audience. I guess one could make the same argument about Fabio with his tricks and locations. We know "don't try this at home" means someone will.

The helmet thing just seems like it should be so easy. Broken bones can mostly be fixed. Injured brains are much more complex. It would not detract from his incredible talent. Selfishly, I'd like to see more of his work. Can't see more if he's gone.

My favorite shots in this were actually of the FMX guy--the surreal drone shots of the tricks with the city skyline in the background, and the part where he's railing the parking garage curbs, which just looks like fun.

Engine barking goes nicely over the tight rapping.. Fabios hub sound brings in some cymbal like sound as well.. drone shots are amazing.. whole video is just wow.

 Yep, 1min37. Amazing.

@bigtuna00: chain or no chain its insane.
  • 1 0
Yep! I reflexively laughed out loud in sheer awe. In retrospect, not that funny, but damn impressive.
  • 1 0
@laksboy: Yeah, that was a heck of a bit of cinematography on top of the riding. This whole video was incredibly well thought out an executed.

I would have to stay away from all of the white kits while attempting any of these.

 You got this

Loved the drone following the MX bike at the top of its jumps. Hadn't seen that before. Still have no idea what Nineyard sell.

Some shots were straight up porn!
Kinda like the "modern oldschool" vibes.
  • 19 17
Gotta admit... I found the edit quite annoying.
Some sick shots and cool ideas but that fake gangsta' style pose is a bit lame. But what can i say, im a sucker for oldskool punk/metal edits.
  • 3 0
I just got spit on my screen cause of you. what's "fake" about all that? I'll bet you $1000 the rap artist would (if didn't already) give those dudes major props. It's there style. You may be into punk/metal but Fabio and his crew are not, so they don't make vids that way.
  • 1 0
@gossman: I do agree with you 99% BUT: We fu**in love punk and metal as well haha.
Check out some of Fabio´s reels and Insta stories, lots of rock there. For this one we just thought the vibe of the song fits perfectly to the vibe of the content.
I´m quite optimistic though that there will be a Fabio video with some serious guitar and drum sounds sooner or later Wink

 Those cinematic tones were dialed.

That video was so well done. Beat went hard and matched the video perfectly. Watched it a couple times. Stereo sound recommended!
