bigquotesThe Second round of the UCI Mountain Bike Cross-Country World Cup has shown that new faces have arrived to the scene and they are here to stay. In the Women's field Loana Lecomte had a race of her own, winning by the biggest ever margin in a Cross-Country World Cup race in Nove Mesto na Morave. In the Men's race Tom Pidcock delivered a stellar performance, leaving everyone a full minute behind and became the first British male rider to win a World Cup race since 1994.Red Bull Bike

I wasn't interested in watching XC highlights at first, I had the idea that was quite boring, similar to watching road racing to me... but damn, things were interesting and these superhumans struggling with the terrain and those uphills, was almost as adrenalitic as watching enduro or DH!

"adrenalitic" - love it! did you make that up?

felt much the same way but this is great stuff. love the way the women come over the line all smiles as well!

I'd like a longer xc highlights show. Maybe 30 min total for men and women combined. Graphics showing race time, lap and rider positions. At the the least, it would be nice to have a graphic showing the final positions on the current highlights show

just watch the actual race if you have that much time

Too bad about Nino's crash. He might have been able to come back for a podium spot, but I think that crash made the gap too big. Solid riding by Pidcock tho. He said it himself. He was born for MTB.

you'd have to admit, take any enduro race. If you timed the up and down, these folks would win.

But then it wouldn't be an enduro race so it's a moot point. I agree wholeheartedly though. It's not really even up for a logical debate. Unless there are huge gap jumps with no ride around or other ridiculous technical feature, then for any loop or any route with equal up and down the fastest rider is going to be a world cup XC on their XC bike. Funnest maybe not, but fastest for sure.

Of course, you make the time on the climbs. Most riders live for, and want to watch, the descents.

Pidcock is running the four stroke with the SR Suntour AXON fork and XTR, iirc Sarrou also won the world champs on the same bike and fork

I get the feeling pidcock could win on just about anything. Did you hear the comment that he runs a 5k just 13:25? This guy's power numbers and physio properties must be off the charts.

@pancakeflatted: I know right, The way he disappeared off into the distance and left MVDP, was unbelievable. Tom's a beast, and I'm hoping he comes into XC full time

@middx: For sure- sadly I think it would be a bit of a pay cut were he to go full MTB. However, if this is how he starts his MTB career... the potential is insane.

Was wondering what happened Victor Koretzky after winning last weekend?
I take it he had to have crashed or mechanical to be down in 40odds after first lap!

 Just taking brake...

I enjoyed the recap even though I also watched the full replay of both races - there is actually some footage here that I didn’t see in the full replays.

 What bike is Pidcock riding?
  • 3 0
 BMC fourstroke

I wonder if Ineos could set up their sponsorship contracts to have a separate MTB sponsor? I don't see Pinarello coming out with a MTB any time soon. On the other hand, if Pidcock is the entirety of their MTB program, maybe it's just not worth it.

@BetweenTheCircles: I mean Wilier Trestina came out with an mtb, it would cool if pinarello did the same.

I missed the race on sunday, but this is a great video.

Nino pulling a Rossi. The new talent is stacked, and the cross-discipline guys just plain have an engine advantage.
