Carson StorchThis July, my good friends Carson Storch and Kelly McGarry came down to my house in Utah for a chill weekend of riding and tire testing. We were all super pumped to do a bunch of riding with no pressure, no contests, just cruising my favorite trails. We spent 3 days mixing it up between trail bikes, downhill bikes, and dirt jump bikes. We rode the high alpine trails backcountry trails, Park City Resort, and my backyard dirt jumps. My kids Milo and Owen were stoked to get in on the action as well, chasing us around the pumptrack. It’s so good to get a crew like this together and just ride all day!
We started out riding the Great Western Trail, high above Midway, which sees less bike traffic but much more moto traffic. This keeps the trails loose and wild, and also makes rad corners and amazing flow. The trail starts on top of the ridge close to 10k feet elevation, and you can take it all the way down to Sundance resort or many other options to different areas. It spends a good chunk of the year covered in snow, and is one of my favorites, I was pumped to take these guys up to ride it.
After that we headed to Park City Resort, where the bike park has been in development for several years. In case you hadn’t heard, it used to be called Canyons Resort, but has now been combined with Park City for the largest resort in the US. There are tons of fun trails and features there and Steve Duke’s killer park crew to always keep it dialed. My favorite is the new GoPro Double Down trail, but they are all fun.
We finished up in the afternoon on my backyard riding setup, which includes jumps, pump track, and Matt Beringer’s waterslides. Sessions here are always chill and fun, the jumps are nice size and floaty, and there’s tons of fun options all over the yard. It was rad having Carson in town to shred the jumps as well, fresh off his win at Colorado Freeride Festival, he was on fire on his new prototype Diamondback slopestyle bike.
On top of having fun, it was also cool to get in a bunch of testing on some new stuff from Kenda, with some rad new sidewall construction and materials, as well as different compounds. Keep your eyes out for some fresh new stuff coming out there in the next year, a lot of time goes into development here.
