Reynolds Releases More Affordable TR Mountain Wheels
@dtrotter: I think the market is the problem. I still think even the lowest price point for a carbon hoop is total BS to be honest. Does the R and D, construction (mostly machine built rims), marketing, and distribution of a carbon rim really justify its 1500$ price tag or is it marked up because there are plenty of dentists out there willing to spend as money as possible because "Carbon is better and I know it is"? My new Transition Patrol was 3500 (discounted) which would mean that a carbon wheelset would total about half of the worth of my bike. Would it add any value to my rides, any time on my strava segments? would I have more fun? Despite allotting most of my income to biking (enduro and DH), I feel like I still cannot justify the price point of carbon vs aluminum and I am the exact person they should be marketing to. If you want to get me into the carbon game (I've heard once you go carbon you never go back), give me a price point that makes me think "well I can justify this expenditure to experiment with something that I may not like". If I can get a spank Hoop for 80 bucks and a NOBL carbon hoop for 400, what benefit will i receive that will justify spending 5x more? This is what I feel that wheel manufacturers have yet to sell me on.

You know companies like reynolds are reading this. I hope they do and realize that 1300$ is not really acceptable as an affordable carbon option.
