Just realized the Pat chasey edit was the perfect "BMX for pinkbike" vid Lame music Sponsor slo-mo A contrived "lifestyle" expose that seems uncomfortable. Plus a bike brand no one gives a hoot about. And that beloved "Pro or nothing" approach. Add some turning and skidding, and a full face... Bam.

Um, ok... Hardly insane. Launch ramp landings, and smooth berms, and skidding every 10 ft. Flow, bro... Flow Someone dig up footage of Posh, or anything in Pittsburgh. I get in, this is "different" but, ain't insane. Watch the latest Credence web-vid for a lesson in "trails"

What Are Your MTB Pet Peeves? - Opinion
Here's one - right to the heart bros: Dressing up like it's Motocross time, but riding a bike without a motor, then complaining about Electric MTB Bikes. Full face, chest protector, gloves padded enough to fight Rocky, shoes from outer space... and the bikes... Holy Hannah... Or better, showing up at the skatepark with a full suspension, with 30 psi tires, slack headtube and a HARDCORE attitude. I get it, your shifted JUST to get to the deck of that sort of (6ft deep) bowl. Awesome. Now, stop crowding lip...

So based on the Dig vid, BMX riders have FINALLY begun to heed the warnings of the Pink bike expert commentary. Now, pressing questions: Why do they go so high? Why do they land so smooth? Why do they nose dive and not destroy the landing? Why is that Bohan does a kick out but then seems to recover in time to land smooth. Why is it everyone seems to be enjoying themselves? Why no 4 min slo mo intro focusing on rear hubs, or brake levers? Or, better why wasn't every trick filmed in 20 different angles, with some beloved slo mo? Where's the Anodized Limit addition colorway "just for spring" on Huckers bike... I mean, his frame's yellow... Helmets, check The rest, still a mystery

As for an explanation, it's a different "sport" than turning and skidding. It's still a thing with two wheels like Motocross/MTB, but it's not the same. That's especially clear when you consider 85.3% of hardcore MTB'ing is just the bike. Or reviews about a shock, or new color way or the lastest "engineering.". Riding down a hill dressed head to toe in plastic or ballistic nylon is great, and amazing fun (can I say that it's fun...?). But, it's not the same. My suspicion is that most who question the helmetless choice never rode in a way that made the bike less important the expression. BMX is a culture. Bikes aren't the sport it's the act of riding. If you see this particular expression of riding through the lens of "better-be-12spd-Carbon-lightweight-new-retro-flatblack-orange" it's understandable that anything outside of that is viewed as incorrect. Any reputable BMX publication (see: DigBmx) doesn't spend space reviewing the latest hubguard, followed by the latest hardcore grip flange. The coverage is on the riding and the rider, and the collective choices: which handrail, which ledge, which city... It's all left up to the rider. Same with helmets. And, at a more associated level, that of skating. My suggestion. Try and overlook the helmet thing and gain some inspiration based on the "choices"
