Video: Joe Barnes & Team Explore the Isle of Man

Jul 19, 2022 at 10:47
by Joe Barnes

The Isle of Man is a beautiful island located between England, Scotland, Ireland and Wales. As well as the home of the famous TT motorbike race, the island has some of the best MTB trails around. Joe Barnes and Fergus lamb headed over to race the annual Manx Enduro for their first time. The trip had everything a quality race weekend (or in this case a week) should have. Bring on next year for more of the same and maybe a few more days on the Isle to take in all the other trails the island has in its many plantations.

Looks really good....I was going to do it this year but the ferry was expensive did not have the funds. The race entry is very reasonable...defo on my list nxt year...

It is a bargain race entry for 10 special stages, with over 30 mins racing over 2 days + beer and burger in the finish field.

Steam packet are the one and only provider with the ferry

I hear there are a few online ferry ticket firms who whack the prices up - stay clear of them

@rawbean: yanks dude ill check them out when I book next year....it looks an ace race...I love going to new places....cool to watch the TT too

@klerric: The Steampacket has always been expensive and as ever its best to book early with them. The races which Joe is watching are called the Southern 100 (not run on the TT/Mountain Course) which took place a couple of weeks ago. They're kind sandwiched between the TT (end of May-June) and the Manx Grand (towards the latter half of August).

Coming over in a van is expensive, but as mentioned above make sure you book direct, it's much cheaper than through any agency.

Another option is to get the train and come on the ferry as a foot passenger. £42 return, no limits on baggage and leave your bike on the car deck for free.

@mark-88: Good idea about the foot passenger bit and then see if hiring a car helps you to get about.

When someone of that stature calls "best enduro of the year" then you're definitely doing something right.
Well done Manx MTB Enduro.
