World Ride Hosts Women's Mountain Bike Film Contest

World Ride is a 501(c)3 non profit with the mission of empowering women globally through mountain biking is hosting a women's mountain bike film contest! "We had a series of movie nights planned for this year, but had to switch to an online platform due to COVID," says director Julie Cornelis. "It has been really great to be able to share so many stories through our movie nights, but it has also made us realize there are not enough women's mountain bike films out there. It is because of this that we decided to host a film contest."

World Ride has been focused on helping get more women mountain biking in developing countries and currently work in Nepal and Guatemala. They are working on expanding to Peru, Lesotho and Iran. In each country, they establish a “bike library” so that women can borrow a bike to use and go on group rides with other women. The online movie nights this year have helped to add bikes to the libraries in Guatemala and Nepal. They have also helped raise funds to host a mountain bike skills instructor program for the women in Nepal and Iran.

World Ride is hosting a film contest! We want YOU to make your own women's mountain bike film!

Get creative and tell your story, the story of a friend or anything else you come up with. Here's the rules:
• Film must be between 3 and 30 minutes in length.
• Films can be made by anyone, but must feature women or those who identify as female mountain biking.
• Get creative and have fun!
• Deadline for submission is September 30th at 11:59pm PST.
• The top three winners will receive prizes.
• The grand prize winner will receive SRAM G2 RSC Brakeset, Rockshox Reverb Stealth Dropper, $500 toward any World Ride trip, Shredly prize pack, a 2 night stay at Arabella Sedona, Sierra Nevada prize pack, + more!
• Second and Third places will also receive prizes from our awesome sponsors.
• We will select films to be screened at our October 15th movie night and will notify you if your film was selected. The films selected to be screened at the movie night will then be voted on by the audience to determine the top 3.
• Only one submission for each film. Please send us your very final, finished version. You can submit your video through our online form found at www.world-ride.com or email a link to julie@world-ride.com

The top films will be shown at an online screening on October 15, 2020 at 6:30pm MST.

The next World Ride online movie night will be on August 27th, 2020 at 7:00pm MST. This online movie night will include the films Pedal Through and Sound of Speed: Kate Courtney, as well as a few other women's adventure films. Movie night tickets and online sweepstakes tickets are now available by donation at www.world-ride.com. Proceeds from the film will go toward our collaboration pump tracks with Velosolutions #pumpforpeace initiative in Nepal and Guatemala.
