If there was a DH game, peat would be endboss
  • + 32
Then Gwin just beat the game!!
  • + 8
peatys the winner in our minds, still by far the greatest rider (bar nico vouliek;jhrf;ukeh) no i dont know how to speel his name
  • + 2
gotta love these videos .... i may be wrong but with gwin having around 400 point lead, unless he does absolutely terrible in the final two races hes already won (pretty much)
  • + 3
like the music in the backround with the commentary
  • + 1
 Aaron FTG!
  • + 1
 Aaron is the MAN !!
  • + 44
 LOOK AT THE (squeak) TIME!

 ...the freecaster commentator. FYP!
  • + 34
 Rob Warner makes freecaster great!
  • + 14
The freecaster commentator is obviously a mountain biker and cares about the sport, which is more than can be said for a lot of other sports commentators.

he sure is good and knows what he is talking about. he sometimes is just to euphoric and screaming a bit to much. imo - thats annoying. he would be much better if wouldn't scream THAT much every time a race gets to the top 5... his voice would be thankful too!
  • + 3
i can feel the stoke when he announces - then i get the stoke - then the laptop closes and my feet hit pedals - it's all good Smile

the link doesn't work for me!! can someone please link it from somewhere else so i can watch it? cheers

in other news, rob warner going through puberty
  • + 24
you gotta give the biggest props to Stevie Smith's mom. He mentioned her driving 65 hrs coast to coast to watch her son race!!! THAT f'n owns! I don't care what country you're from that is true support!
  • + 3
Stevie's mom is amazing. I'm sure he'd tell you this too, if it wasn't for her support you probably would never have heard of him.
  • + 4
if you watch the movie seasons she is definitely his number 1 supporter, such a great mom. GO SMITH!
  • + 21
peaty showing everyone how its done in his old age, how many other people at age 37 can still get that close to a win at a wc. Not to mention being the biggest legend in the sport
  • + 6
I think that it was his 52nd or 51st wc podium! something absurd... so many years at the top...
  • + 2
but minaar has a couple more wins than him now. Peaty had 17 i think minaar is on 18 now
  • + 2
naah minnaar still trails on wc wins
  • + 0
close though, but i swear warner said theyre even now or summat
  • + 2
peaty has sneaked in front again on podiums but still has 17 wins greg 14
  • + 12
I don't care that Gwin won the race (props to him!), for me Steve was the best that day! Racing on the top for so many years, and still not giving signs of giving up... it's just phenomenal!

I could care less that Gwin is from the USA. He's an amazing rider and is absolutely on fire this year. I would be just as stoked to see anyone from any country riding this well. All of this overly patriotic chest-thumping disgusts me. Being american had literally nothing to do with his victory. Do you see Aaron pulling this "USA USA USA" sh!t? I don't think so. I come to pinkbike to read about mountain biking and mountain bikers, not hear a bunch of boneheads talk about why their geographic location is better than your geographic location. Put a sock in it and go ride your bike.
  • + 1
Hey no need to overdo it Martis. Its ok to have pride in your fellow countrymen. I am really happy that Gwinn is raising the bar for American's in DH. Hopefully we can continue to be true contenders in the sport! He's inspired me to ride harder. But so has Peaty! I didn't start DH I was 28, Peaty has given me hope that my best years could still be ahead of me.
  • - 1
Why the USA is better has nothing to do with our geographical location. It has to do with our founding and as long as we apreciate that we will continue to be better than any other. Despite our current president.
  • + 1
It's your opinion, j-mor, but the attitude of "our country is better than yours" is why so many people dislike americans.
  • + 8
 Another fine PB poach!!

Don't be a jackass intenserider. People like you are giving every American that visits this site a bad reputation.
  • + 3
Peat sending it again, ive really enjoyed watching the DH Cup this year.

Its now the only thing of "telly" i manage to watch!

Gwinn is outrageously fast i'm guessing hes staying off the brakes more than anyone else, coming from the speed and huge distances he jumps on MX he probably finds it easier to go fast on a DH bike.
  • + 6
Aaron Gwin is just too good
  • + 5
The rock garden section is insane. Gwin looks so fast there even on video, which almost never look fast.
  • + 2
I'd love to know what happened at the top when Gwin pulled ahead. That's definitely where Peaty lost the advantage. I think if they'd been close through there Steve would have taken it.
  • + 5
 ...and the crowd goes wild!
  • + 1
wow, Peatty must had a foible in the beginning. Gwin was up 2.552 at the first split and it looked more in the second camera spot. He won with 2.33 at the finish so Peat actually made up some time throughout the course. Huge props to Gwin for likely a perfect run, and that's racing but the old boy ain't done yet.
  • + 1
Yeah that entrance to the first rock garden and that second berm killed peaty. raced better than gwin after that though. im a big gwin fan though so props to both riders.
  • + 3
It looks like it was the top section that decidet the winner, they looked identical in how they rode the resst of the track.
  • + 4
Peatys best result all season so far?
  • + 1
Don't forget, you don't see half the track with freecasters coverage, but you can't cmplain as its free and provided by the sponsors.
  • + 4
 song choice. yes YES YES

 you know what it is??

SUM 41 used to be awsome but now they've turned into real bssssss...

  • + 4
 The Young vs the Old
  • + 1
is it me or did Gwin look crazy fast. he cained that rock garden looked like he floated over it all lol. Peat did a great run good to see old school rider up there.
  • + 1
SouthwestDH has it figured out.. that's how it should be done. support your guys.. not attack other peoples countries.. But with youth comes passion.... right manchicken???
  • + 4
 GWIN FTW
  • + 1
damned guys slowdown it's smell litlle bit nationalistic agenda's ,it was time for Peaty,Hill,Gracia now it's time for Gwin.
  • + 3
 PEATY!!!
  • + 1
but remember gwin has age on him steve peat is about 10 years older than gwin haha
  • + 2
that gave me chills!! congrats Gwin, Peaty congrats on 2nd mate.. USA!!!!
  • + 2
Why do they scream so much?
  • - 9
flag joebmx88 (Jul 11, 2011 at 11:31) (Below Threshold)
Because of British patriotism. Gwin could be ahead by minutes and the announcers wouldn't be half as excited if a Brit was ahead by a tenth of a second.
  • + 8
 Patriotism = Awesome
  • + 13
im pretty sure rob warner was going mental for gwins run in this video
  • + 1
well that doesn't change my opinion that patriotism = awesome.
  • + 10
lol what joebmx? Rob goes insane for anyone that's up. I would love to hear Rob Warner and Phil Liggett do commentary together for a WC race. Phil's calm demeanor, always with a story about the rider or team in question, amusing anecdotes, and Rob next to him screaming "LOOK AT THE TIME PHIL *starts shaking phil by the shoulders* LOOK AT IT!!!!"
  • + 1
@joebmx88.. wow, man thats the dumbest thing ive heard in a while, rob could litteraly not have been screaming any louder, its just his personality...honestly your just dumb
  • + 2
wow man, Gwin's really quick this year. and great race from Steve either!
  • + 0
Are you kidding me? Jesus people we are on "Pinkbike" right now. save your historical shit talking for somewhere else on the internet . Grats on the win Gwin. Peaty as well
  • + 1
 O.G.. gwiny..u are a walking rocket!!!
  • + 1
is there a link to the vid, because it doesn't load for me?
  • - 1
Got nothing against Gwin, hes a machine, but these arrogant USA USA USA comments n all the general BS that comes with it is the only reason why I don't want him to win.
  • + 1
Not every American is an arrogant douche bag. We're just excited to see an American doing good in the WC. Its been ten years for christs sake.
  • + 2
There is nothing arrogant about those comments at all. The two or three idiots posting and saying the US is better than everyone are arrogant. There's nothing wrong however with expressing pride in the fact a rider from your country did well. I see people do it ALL the time here regardless of where they're from. Just mellow out man.
  • + 2
Hate the guys making the comments then, but don't be a tard and hate Gwin for it. Besides bringing out the American patriotism(which seams to piss everyone off), Gwin winning is doing a lot for our sport. He's progressing the sport and pushing everyone to step it up, making it even more exciting to watch. Also, he's generating more interest which should increase sales in the industry and lead to lower prices. Seeing a few over-the-top comments on PB is a small price to pay.
  • + 2
i dont see whats wrong with a lil patriotism... im sure the brits were goig crazy when peaty was on top and the auzies for hill whogives a crap if we scream USA were proud not arrogant thats all
  • + 1
Of course it was a patriotic crowd. It was the weekend after Independence Day, people were waving flags. We are hella excited to finally have an American rider than is doing so well in the sport!
  • + 1
it only took them 2 minutes plus.... this guys are machines
  • + 1
whoa, didn't take Gwin long to get into a clear lead...!
  • + 1
 HEY HEY BAM BAM SHAMBALAHHHHH
  • + 2
 Crazy narrator
  • + 1
"that guy is on a different pace noice"
  • + 1
I'm starting to think this has something to do with his switch to Trek...
  • + 2
more like the fact he put the work in over winter, not just the backing by trek (which helps too) He uses every possible way to gain speedd and it works
  • + 1
What's happen to Ahertons? Do they go down? Gwin is very fast he dont see troubles on the trailBig Grin
