please let silva win, mac is visually stunning, but matt miles has that make you wanna go out and ride feeling. and im pretty sure thats why all of us watch all these videos, we see a sick line that we want to be able to ride like your favorite rider.
  • + 77
Nothing against Danny McAskill but he's sponsored by a company with one of the biggest marketing budgets around. Plus Silvias videos are just mind-blowing. I think "Matt Miles in the Fall" is even better. It's f*ckin art!
  • + 132
... or just let everyone vote on which ever movie they think is better :S....
  • + 13
McAskill is an awesome rider but I believe he already has the most viewed mtb-videos on yt so it would only fair for Silvia to win. Their videos are just so aesthetically pleasing in all respects without being cheesy.
  • + 20
^I totally agree! but don't you think he's the most viewed on youtube (from a mtb perspective) because of a reason? I mean what he does on his bike, I couldn't even try doing on my feet lol Razz
  • + 9
Not many persons can squeeze every bit of that magnificent Trek. Can Matt?.. i think we all know the answer. so let's vote. he deserves
  • + 14
^^ Hes riding a demo! They are both great videos, but for me Silvia has the win!
  • + 18
Danny McAskill is better filmed but Silvia makes you want to go shred the hill. I expect the pinkbike community will choose Silvia on its pure stoke factor , Personally i voted for danny ,poetry in motion!
  • + 1
 voted for Danny!
  • + 7
at this point its so hard to choose because they are both amazing.
  • + 22
Fuckin silvia!!! thats the real way to ride a bike!
  • + 4
The great thing about Danny is he can ride a bike both ways!
Danny wins for me purely because he rode along a wire many feet up that 99.99% of us could not or would not even walk along.
2 great videos.
  • + 27
danny mac wont even know what to do with the session, who wants to see matty shred the 9.9 in a new silva edit!
  • + 5
from an outsider point of view the video of Danny is a definite winner, and it really comes down to which video reaches and really inspires a wider audience and for me thats the MTBcut one.
  • + 14
Guys seriously. Silvia has done soooo much original and innovative edits. This contest isn't about the rider but about the editors and in this respect you have to hand it to Silvia!

 @gnarly-productions:

like some said: MTBcut isn't even a mtb-video. Silvias edits are one of the best and they make these without a big company behind them. When you strip it down the MTBcut is basically a commercial.
  • + 17
The MTBcut video was a video made for TV in the UK, it took 1 day to shoot. It was never a commercial.
MTBcut sponsor some top riders in the world for Dh! Top 10 being team members best results last year. 10th at the Mega also.
The great thing about MTBcut is they are there at the local races, representing Dh from grass roots to world cup and top enduro events. Then they also shot Danny.

MTBcut, putting the mountain (and not smooth bike park) into mountain biking.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong here, but doesn't the person who made the video get the bike not the person riding? So why would Danny Macaskill get the bike? And for that matter, why is everyone saying he doesn't deserve to win if he in fact isn't going to win since he didn't make/film/edit/etc... the video. It's not about the rider, it's about the video itself and the work/skills employed to create the footage seen.

That said, go Silvia.
  • + 18
Lol at Danny not knowing what to do with a 9.9. I would not be surprised if he rips trails harder than most people on this site. He is a master on the bike, and I am sure would be excellent at any type of ridding he did.
  • + 4
MTB Cut people would be winning the bike, not danny, or the silvia people would win the bike, because its about the filmmakers/the video, not awarding the riding, but the filmmaking.
  • + 2
Boostmaster stole my comment!..lol..but yes guys, remember the riders are not the ones competing for the prizes.
  • + 6
im giving my vote to Danny, because its a much different video that what we're used to seeing. I mean Silvia's video is pretty awesome, but how many videos have we seen with freeriding and techno together? 50, 60, 100? Danny's video deserves it imo because of originality, skill, and great filming and editing. If i was into trials, im pretty sure that after watching MTBcut's video I would go out and ride my bike as well.
  • + 0
 Techno? Lol
  • + 7
How dare he misclassify your sacred dubstep!
  • + 2
 im soo sorry. Razz
  • - 1
One thing I cannot stand in current edits is the random shovel shots and moving one object to build a stunt. I know its there for a visual break but I just can't stand it for some reason. Silvia FTW
  • + 10
So I'm the minority here i guess. I'm going to be brutally honest. Silvia aren't as good as everyone thinks they are. Yes, they have a massive fan base. BUT. The videography is Silvia's video isn't that great and the jumps are tiny. Danny mac has some serious skills and the videography was sick! Danny FTW
  • + 2
Team Silvia for the win! It would be so sick seeing some new videos of Matt Miles shredding the session!
  • + 2
 damn straight^^^
  • - 1
 @bboutin

How hard is it to understand that Matt wouldn't get the bike? Silva would, not the rider. And also, why would it be any more sick to see him shredding a session over a demo? I would assume that his riding would look exactly the same...
  • + 4
Matt is one of the filmers for silvia....
  • + 0
Is he? Then I stand corrected.
  • + 3
@bubbaleech Facepalm the silvia filmers/editors are karl heldt and matt miles, so i would assume the possibility of matt taking the bike. Furthermore I meant that he deserves the bike and I know it will be shown in many sick videos to Come I dont recall saying it will change his ability..
  • + 4
If Matt wins, they will make an edit of him riding that bike...... And it will be the VOY for 2012.
  • + 6
Honestly boys Danny's vid is way more artistic. I don't have anything against silvia, I really like their videos, but Really it is about the filmer here haha
  • + 1
to each his own @booboo, they are both great videos with their own style!
  • + 2
too much talk about all of the other vids silvia has done, its about this one in particular and IMHO MTBcut's vid is better in this match up.
  • + 2
Silvia's videos are awesome but the filming and editing just isn't up to Dannies video. I voted Danny. Whoever wins deserves it though.
  • + 1
 Try voting when you're sober?
  • + 1
@mtbrider256 I know they are hundreds of videos with the same characteristics than silvias vids but there has to be an explanaition why they are so famus. its becaus of their perfection and their awesome shoots. Think about it, the more competition there is, its harder to stand out

Silvia has mi vote!!
  • + 48
 Silvia FTW!
  • + 15
yes, the first one is full of skill and song but the videography in the second is sublime and the song is great too, and the skill
(:
Vote Matt.
  • + 14
Silvia's vid is gonna win by Miles.
  • + 3
No doubt. 153345 views/3453 Faves vs. 58024 views/1972 Faves. No contest. Aside from that, Silvia deserves to win this. I have enjoyed all of their videos immensely. Danny's skills are amazing, but I think most of us can relate more to the style of riding in Silvia's video. What would Macaskill do with a Trek Session anyway!
  • + 2
I would assume that he would ride it, but that is just speculation, as he wouldn't receive the bike. MTB cut would. I don't get why that is such a difficult concept to understand.
  • + 1
Whoa. It's not a hard concept to understand, but when I posted this comment I had not read through the rest of the comments to see that it was the videographers who got the bike and not the rider. My point was that Danny Macaskill is not a "Mountain Biker" in this video to me because he rides on pavement usually. But hey, thanks for the condescending tone.
  • + 2
Hes actually pretty awesome on an mtb and he does ride both. I still voted for silvia and agree with the relating to that kind of riding thing
  • + 1
tetonlarry good points and yes I know its a PB comp, but www.youtube.com/watch?v=ShbC5yVqOdI (check the view/likes....)
  • + 31
I give my vote to the video that will sort of guide me for the year. At all stages, every time I chose a video that inspired me more, that showed riding closest to how I want to ride. That's why I cast my vote to Matt. I will watch this video before I go riding, after I come back and I will download the tune and put it in my mp3 player to remind me of his style when on a bike. Don't get me wrong, but for my Danny's more like a circus artist - you see him, you admire him, you show his movies to your non-riding friends, but in the end you don't buy a trial bike and you ride through the city the fastest way right down to your favorite trails.
  • + 3
 well played sir
  • + 21
 Bring back Chris Akigg!
  • + 5
Hill in Spain Blew My Mind. I was so sad to see it go so early. Between these two though, I'd go with Silvia because it best represents the Pinkbike community and encompasses what I would want to show somebody if they asked what I do when I disappear in the forest for hours at a time.
  • + 17
Silvia all the way. Matt miles just makes me wanna go out and get gnarly.
  • + 10
He also make me want to hit the replay button over and over which makes it hard to get out and ride. My life is difficult.
  • + 1
 lol
  • + 11
Loved the Silvia video - but also love so many other DH videos. I ride DH - at about a 1/4 speed or skill and style of all these guys in the videos (giving myself way too much credit), but I still could ride Sun Peak (maybe one lap to M Miles 2 or 3 laps). It is excellent, great videography and angles and shots, INCREDIBLE riding.... But with 10000% respect to Silvia and Miles - this video is very similar to a lot of other very high quality videos that have all the same fantastic ingredients shown by the Silvia crew (including several others they have done). Silvia video is outstanding, Miles riding is great, but is it different enough, special enough to be Video of the Year??

The MTBcut video is just visually stunning. Visually unique. Incredible location. And absolutely 'otherworldly' riding. I have never even seen a location like that, never mind envision someone riding it. Yes its the camera not the rider being voted on - but they work in unison... And to me MTBcut/Macaskill is just that combination of excellence.

Fantastic riding, excellent video by Silvia/Miles. Be very proud of it.
Visually stunning MTBcut/Macaskill. Simply outstanding on every level.

MTBcut +1
  • + 5
took the words out of my mouth. All said and done.
  • + 9
I have to say MTBCUT gets my vote. Its not that the silvia film isnt great, its just that i have seen so many similar videos come from them and out of north america, that it just seems to be getting quite repetitive. DH, roosting corners, whips on jumps. We've seen it all before. Mtbcut seem to do a greater of variety of videos with their style of filming. I really enjoy it, and not only does it make me want to go out and ride, but it makes every style of riding feel much more accessible to myself.
  • + 10
Both great videos and congrats on both getting this far but Silvia gets my vote. To do videos of this quality with a limited budget is just mind blowing. Everytime I see a Silvia video I want to immediately go ride!
  • + 2
I feel exactly the same way BryanBobo!
  • + 13
 Definitively Matt Miles, he deserves.
  • + 10
Pretty sure Matt Miles and his crew are getting a new bike. Salute Congrats to the finalists.
  • + 7
I love MacAskill's riding and mtbcut's edit because, as great as Silvia's cuts are, we're overrun with DH edits that look and sound all the same.
Mtbcut's videos are more mature and speak to a greater audience. I've shown gitlfriends, parents, coworkers and friends their videos and they have universal inspiring appeal.
This vote comes down DH ego vs. uniqueness. Mtbcut and Danny get my vote for showing the world just what can be done on a bike.

(Still unsure as to why Into Thin Air, the Utah edit, or the Akrigg video didn't make the final considering all of the mountain bike purist talk.)

danny is amazing in all but its not even like the true sport of mountan biking it should not have even been in the finals put that shit on a trials bike website....THIS IS MOUNTAIN BIKING
  • + 2
v10er, you have every right to your opinion, but it doesn't necessarily mean you should open your mouth... I'm with PeytonP on this one. I also very much enjoyed the videos featuring Chris Akrigg...hope his recovery has been coming along well!
  • - 1
watever i just never understood y it should be considerd MOUNTAIN BIKING
  • + 0
How is it so hard to understand it is mountain biking? Did you even watch the video? www.pinkbike.com/news/chris-akrigg-spain-video-2011.html

Also, this: He FELL OFF OF CLIFF. That sort of thing happens when you are pushing the limits of mountain biking. www.pinkbike.com/news/Step-by-Step.html

My guess is this guy understands mountain biking more than most of us.

 SILVIA
  • + 8
 I AGREE!!
  • + 10
Silvia all the way ! Awesome riding style + great camera work
  • + 10
It was Silvia from the very start, totally killed it!
  • + 8
The MTBcut is definatley pretty sweet, id say they gonna win, they get my vote
  • + 7
I didn't think I'd ever vote against MTBcut as I was dumbstruck when I first saw that video. However that's what I am forced to do. Silvia deserves it.
  • + 9
Silvia! Got my vote for every step boys!
  • + 5
The competition is called "Video of the Year" not "rider of the year." And in my opinion I think Silvia has awesome and creative filming techinques that stokes the visual senses. MTBcut has some good photage But Sivlia, I think, has the most unique.
  • + 7
Matt Miles is the most stylish rider I can think of.
  • + 2
I agree and I love his vibe.
  • + 4
I feel like semenuk has more style but it really doesn't matter because Matt Myles might as well be steezus Christ.
  • + 1
steezus Christ- man that made me chuckle! +1 and then some!
  • + 1
"But Sivlia, I think, has the most unique."

Except all bike park edits are the same lol...?
  • + 5
Silvia and Matt Miles create such a stunning videos! My vote goes all way up for those guys! Such a style and dedication! Just mind blowing, You wanna get your bike and start rippin' right after replay ends! Help 'em up in way to victory and VOTE!
  • + 7
let matt win...i mea mcaskill has SOOO MUCH PUBLICITY AS IS... let matt have a tast of fame
  • + 4
Danny might not be a dh rider, but his trials riding skills could be some potential elements to prompt us to ride and think out of the box. His riding style shows us the possibility of combining perfect skills with imaginations and thus is paving that possible path for other riders to go riding differently. If we are talking about the force that might change the scene of mtb, then MTBCut will get my vote.
  • - 2
I doubt that trials riding will change the mtb scene.
  • + 3
How do you judge? 2 completely different riding styles. Both are filmed and edited phenomenally. I go with Sylvia only because it's the riding I relate to more. For all out skill and awe factor it's Danny all the way. Both are awesome.
  • + 3
so, because one of the prizes on offer is a dh bike and one of the videos is a dh video, the Silva vid should win? surly the video should be judged without the prizes being brought into the question, but on what you can see on your screen, not the story behind it. The vid of the year should capture that and so whoever filmed/rode/edited it doesn't matter so long as its whatever you want from a short video. Just my thought anyway. Smile
  • + 3
both amazing videos, regardless of budget or sponsors the skill level of mcaskill is insane ,matt miles makes everyone wanna grab a bike and shred but what happend to chris akkrig his vid was unbelievable ,the guy works super hard and should get more recgonition
  • + 7
silvia's videos make me wanna ride... vote silvia!!!
  • + 4
My vote goes to silvia. small town guys that just like to ride and it shows in there videos, no big budget, no camera tricks just pure talent and creativity. regular guys that work hard and play even harder...good luck guys
  • - 1
i dont really see a trick on riding that thin wire on mac vid.
Smile
  • + 5
please let silvia win! ALL of his vids are top-notch and it seems like he does it for the love of filming and riding not for sponsors and big money
  • + 3
does silviafilms.ca still exist as their web site at the end of the video does not work?
I know they have a few videos on here, all of which are excellent, just wondered if there is more.
  • + 2
a huv tae go wi the scottish boy ken whit a meen but the DH video does make ye want go shredd and danny macaskill video is great stunt video. next week there will be other videos out that everyone will think are better.they all get better and you will all be ridin like them.i no one thing am heading for glentress tomorrow.
  • + 2
I vote silvia because Karl make me dream all this year and not only with this film. His movies are a little revolution in the world of mountain biking and he brokes all the big production. Matt and Karl have a motherfucking style and when I look a silvia movie I'm like a kid the christmas day ! VOTE SILVIA !!
  • + 5
i call bullshit. there shouldn't be any actual film companies in this competition. it should only be independent filmers
  • + 0
 That's what silvia is
  • + 1
not to mention a film company with probably one of the most viewed bike videos ever filmed, just because of the inspired video danny mac shot!
  • + 2
Being a trials rider, Danny obviously wins it for me. Forgetting that, I still believe he should win. His video is full of different lines that all leave me amazed. Whereas, with Matt's video, I've seen a lot of it before. Don't get me wrong, I think both videos are great but like I said, Danny's wins for me.
  • + 2
They're both great riders, but there are plenty of cups and competitions for riding. As this is a 'Video of the Year' contest, I think my vote goes to Stu. Although I must say, 'Silvia - Dylan Sherrard Season Finale' is a much better video then both of these, I don't see why it wasn't nominated Smile
  • + 4
MTBcut for me, music is better and just generally love the riding, really does show that you can do incredible things on a bike Big Grin
  • + 2
As a trials/street rider at heart that loves DH and used to race it, I find it REALLY difficult to chose but I almost have to go with silvia just because of the lines and smoothness. He reminds me of Nicolas Vouilloz section in NWD 2, for those who dont know what I mean... youtube it. Word of caution though, the origonal soundtrack was replaced with "bodies" so it wasn't deleted off YT, find your mute button before it plays and you're golden.
  • + 1
My vote goes to MTBcut. It seems like everyone is pulling for silvia, and I won't deny that it is a fantastic edit, but what it comes down to for me is universal appeal. I have very limited DH availability where I live, so I can't relate to the Sun Peaks video. What I can do, however, is pick my jaw up from the floor after watching Danny Mac turn ordinary items and locations into stunning feats of bike control. This edit wins hands down for me. It will look amazing shown at the film festival! Congrats too all of the film makers for a fantastic VOY competition!
  • + 1
My opinion is the the MacAskill video is great too, but it isn't an MTB video. Pinkbike is a MOUNTAINBIKING website. That is a trials video, not a mountainbike video. Not dissing what he does, but it isn't mountainbiking, the other one is. Easy choice
  • + 7
 en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mountain_bike_trials

Trials started from xc bikes and it still has its roots in mtb
  • + 4
SILVIA all the day! Matt kills it! real mtb rippin! imma watch it again and go ride some trails!
  • + 1
Silvia for me, made me wanna go and ride right now. MacaSkill is an incredible rider, absolute top of his game, and the vid is epic, it was one element of a 4-part documentary aired here on the BBC where 4 teams were charged with making a video showing off their sport, this was on prime-time TV in the UK, it helped to popularise the sport to some degree. It was beautifully shot, well thought out, and the riding was legendary. BUT, i can't even begin to think how to do half of what he does, and that for me, while it makes it spectacular, helps to to distance the emotion of it for me, i can't relate to what he's doing, so i don't get as enthusiastic or 'juiced up'. The MTB Cut one, was well shot, and the riding was great, but mostly made me want to ride. A lot.
  • + 2
*it was channel 4, not bbc
  • + 1
It's a shame that Danny's video is being judged against itself. It really is a fantastic video and captures a great person and their effort in furthering their discipline. True the Silvia video inspires that 'get out and ride' feeling, but Danny's video is simply inspiring. More too, its inspiration transcends sport. My vote.
  • + 5
Silvia FTW! but the matt miles in the fall is waaayy better than that one!
  • + 1
i find the vid of matt miles better.. when i look his video i wanna go shred. i also vote for him because for danny's film they had much more money and the video of the year must be a freeride vid!!!Wink
www.pinkbike.com/video/233252 an other great video of matt miles....
  • + 1
i thought mtbcut edit and stu thomson riding was great. I dont ride that myself but i just loved the use of the enviroment and how easy he made everything look. That being said though I felt after watching Silvia and Matt miles edit i really wanted to grab my bike and go ride. Congratulations and good luck to both but a video that makes me want to go ride gets my vote.
  • + 1
My personal view is that danny should win this comp because there are thousends of mountain bikers in the world that could ride that downhill track as fast as that but there are only a hanfull of people that could ride trials as well as danny does in this video so because of this unique talent i think danny deserves it!
  • + 1
This is a tricky one, editing/motion gfx is my job and I find it difficult to cast a vote because of the production team behind the Danny vid - Silvia cant compete with the budget that the Danny vid was made on and it's worth noting that there is no way Silvia films could have achieved even similar shots as the Danny vid without the camera rigs, cranes, steadicams, camera track and then there's the quality of the camera itself, you're talking about £1500 + a day for broadcast camera kit hire (Red one, Alexa, Sony F3 etc) & op, not to mention additional lenses and rigs. For what Silvia has achieved in the time frames they did I think it only right to vote Silvia. What Danny can do on a bike is simply mind blowing but for me you have to distinguish between the rider and the film maker. So, well done Silvia! Matt's riding makes me want to leave my office immediately and go for a blast on me bike though as well! Quality stuff.
  • + 4
Matt "the floater style for Miles all the way! Silvia deserve this so much more!
  • + 2
People stop complaining about money and the riders, if Stu's vid was about money, then how come he has a third of the views? so that argument is invalid, anyway they are both good videos but MTBcut gets my vote.
  • - 1
Maybe just because Silvia is better!? Just look at the faves!
  • + 1
If you compare favourites to views ratio, you'd notice that Stu's video is a lot better in that respect. Both videos are great however and as much as i love Silvia's I'm voting for MTBcut due to it being about the filmmakers, and Industrial Revolutions is a lot better filmed and much more unique.
  • + 2
I'm glad the competition is about the film maker and not the rider, that's what people need to remember when voting. You are not voting for Danny but for MTBCut, even though his amazing riding does play into it.
  • + 3
im a filmaker and imo dannys video should win. not because of danny even if he was the best but because th vioclip is just perfectly done !
  • + 1
Danny should have won hands down, I have just watched the video again and it just does not get boring at all, every single piece of riding/skills that he does is just phenomenal, he's just such a talented rider, dropping 20feet+ and back flipping of bits of run out train line, it's just fantastic, not saying the downhill rider didn't deserve winning because that was also a sick video with such good riding and filming in!
  • + 4
Bike parks are lamo, but Silvia nailed it. Love the saturated colours, music, and dude is pinned. I'm going for a ride!
  • + 4
Danny makes for a cool vid but it just doesnt have the same intensity and stoke factor that the Matt Miles Vid does!
  • + 1
As a side note to all video makers reading the comments: Notice how the Danny Macaskill video doesn't have any slow-motion and is still mind blowing? You know what, I believe the Silvia vid would be better without the slow motion. It's a tool that is overused to the point of ridiculousness in so many videos...quite frankly it's so refreshing to see a film without it, it almost automatically makes Industrial Revolutions win my vote. That, paired with a sheer awesomeness in every aspect of the film of course.
  • + 5
Silvia of course! Danny's video is good too .. but i like Mat's more .
  • + 3
shouldn't a prereq for a mountain bike video be that it includes a mountain?
  • + 1
Man, this is mad hard. I've had a mad hard on for the Silvia crew. I agree with how they have that effect of make you go and ride, but danny has mad skill. gah, such a hard decision, for such a undeceive bastard
  • + 0
I've ridden both styles shown in the videos. Silvia showcases an excellent rider using the terrain beyond its potential and i get the feeling of wanting to ride. Mac is as skilled and ballsy as they come. And the creatvity of both rider and videographer truly clicked. What i look for in films is a combination of everything, from rider to camera shots, to music etc. However, the eriness of the rail yard and how they used all the elements in the video set it apart for me. I'm a dh'er by default, but my vote with a very, very narrow margin, was Stu Thomson for originality.
  • + 2
Big Shoot Out from me to MATT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • + 2
Cant believe Silvia, they were just some hard shredders from Kamloops about a year ago..now they're huge!! Keep rocking it guys, the whole world awaits.
  • + 2
One more vote for Danny Macaskill - Industrial Revolutions here! It's a beautifully cut film with some of the sickest riding I have ever seen. Simply brilliant.
  • + 1
I just like Macaskill. People have different opinions, and everyone should respect each other. They are both good. But like I said I prefer Macaskill. He has something in his vids that gives me good vibe.
  • + 1
Both videos are fantastic , silvia makes me want to go and ride and the trails look brilliant however Danny if an amazing rider , I've been a fan since his first vid , can't I choose both :-S
  • + 3
I think Danny has had enough sponser money, also, what is Danny going to do with a DH bike lol?
  • + 2
if you look on you tube there is a video of danny on a dh bike....
  • + 18
It's not for Danny, it's for the film makers... Smile

He rides for Orange Bikes also. He gets steezy at Whistler too ya know eh...

a whole lot of awsome d.h. vids out there,, and only 3 vids out there that combine such riding and filming styles..and they are all mtb cut and danny riding,,, its gonna be danny!!!!!!!!!!
  • + 1
its not about the style of riding in the video, its about the angles the videographer uses, the movement, the lighting, the idea. not whether the person is riding downhill or riding trial.
  • + 4
its close, both so good, silvia for me though
  • + 2
I would vote for Silvia if it was the Matt Miles in the Fall video that was chosen as VOTY entry. That said, my vote goes to MTBcut.
  • + 2
I think that the editing of MTBCut was better, but Silvia made me want to go out and ride, and that is what I look for in a video. Both are amazing!!!!
  • + 2
this completion will come down to where the film maker is from probably, all the Canadians and Americans will vote for Silvia and all the Brits will vote for MTBcut
  • + 2
I'm scottish (like proper scottish, not just ancestors from scatland) living in canada and danny macaskill is obviously amazing but sylvia gets my vote coz it makes me wanna go ride my bike. now.
  • + 1
 i meant the majority
  • + 3
Love this kids playfull riding style, he really lets it hang out-sweet vid!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • + 4
Of course SILVIA!!!!!!! the best movies.
  • + 3
Silvia is the best bike vidio maker
  • + 2
We need a "non of the above" option to vote for, chris kovariks edit should have been top two
  • + 1
danny is a space alien star-fighter that is amazing to watch, but matt is so smooth it makes me want to go out and ride. should both win in their own respective categories.
  • + 1
MTBcut, and danny is pinned at downhill aswell as trials, he rides a orange five, and im sure i could be better on a downhill bike.
  • + 1
 *he could do better
  • + 1
Siliviafilms productions's crew definately are better on this video! So if I could ask for a wish "to be Danny or To be Matt" I'd wish to be Matt Miles 100% Sick Rider!!
  • + 4
 DH for the win
  • + 2
I voted for Silvia. He's a DH freak, and would make way more use of DH bicycle and extras.
  • + 3
Silvia showed me Matt Miles's style, and I love it!
  • + 2
The MTBCut Video is at a whole new level of filming to the Silvia video. MTBCut should take this.
  • + 3
go silvia i hope you guys get it!!
  • + 1
Two awesome videos...but I'm not quite as stunned by either of them as much as I was by the photo of the year finalists...I don't know why
  • + 2
I wanted to vote for Danny, but what would he do with a DH bike? Razz Go Silvia!!!
  • + 4
He can shred it better than most on here on a Dh bike, or XC bike, or AM bike, or Trails bike, or Dirt jump bike.....
If you ever get the chance to ride with Danny, you will know.
Bike mechanic, nice guy, turns to bike genius.

  • + 3
he thinks he can vote on some one due to them not being able to ride dh(when clearly they can) and it about the film maker!!! dont vote untill you know what your talking about
  • - 1
you havent seen danny on a DH. boy your missing something
  • + 1
Seems a few people are getting a bit mixed up thinking the rider gets the bike, its the filmer that gets it not the rider.
  • + 4
 Silvia all the way!
  • + 4
 Go Silvia!!!
  • + 4
 LETS GO B.C. BOYSS!!!!!
  • - 1
i dont mind seing DH but ALL mountain vids like Ulramontane..im surprised they didnt make the cut..there was one on there with a dude, a girl and a dog riding and at night in the snow..that movie was badd ass...im in for MTBCut. this SILVIA is good but not the best they got..hell>>that last one with Matt Hunter would of won it all.i thought that was pretty darn good ...if you are asking. which case you didnt so im tellen ya. ;-)
  • + 3
 Vote Canada!!!!
  • + 2
silvia has it for sure>>>>what a ripper
  • + 1
I hope when Silvia wins, this doesn't tear them apart when they are trying to decide who get's the bike.
  • + 2
So hard to vote cause this contest is about who is a better rider right Wink
  • - 2
voted for danny all the way, the video is extremely creative. also sometimes i cant believe this site is named pinkbike bc 90% of the time the only things that are noticed are dh like it should be named pinkDHbike or something that basically only deals with dh, i understand you like it but thats not the only type of riding you should respect, you may like silvia's video because of the elements he encorporates in his edit but maybe some people should try to branch out of just straight dh and go into a second type of riding and then they would finally learn to respect all types of riding instead of ignoring dannys video because of the publicity it gets and because hes not a dh rider
  • + 0
Nothing compares to DH and that is why 90% of the content on Pinkbike is DH related. It's not like I'm going to start riding BMX or Trials at 31 years old! I have no chance of ever being as good as a bunch of 12 year olds that just started riding last year. Anyone who is riding BMX and is over 30 probably has been riding BMX since they were kids.

Dirtjumping is the same. Unless you have the rubber band body of a 12-18 year old, the learning curve of trying tricks on dirt jumps is too steep, and will always end in injury.

As far as XC, If I'm going to buy a 2nd bike and a good used XC bike costs as much as a good used dirtbike; the choice is pretty simple! For me, as soon as I discovered what I could do on a downhill bike, I never considered anything else again.
  • + 3
tetonlarry, maybe you should pick up bmx. Sure you'll feel like an idiot the first time a 10 year old kicks your ass around the track, but the next time you're out on your MTB you'll approach the trail with an entirely different perspective. It's pretty amazing. You can do a lot on a DH bike, sure, but have you ever been in the saddle on an XC bike for 4, 5, 6 or even 8 hours? The amount of terrain you can cover is astounding and at the end of a day A BIKE IS A BIKE! Ride it! Stop bitching and get out there. Who cares if it's DH, XC, BMX, Trials or road even? They are all incredibly fun and do a lot to improve your skill set, endurance and overall outlook on life. I'm tired of seeing people hate on different variations of two-wheeled recreating. A bike is a bike, shut up and ride.
  • + 3
 Silvia fosho!
  • + 1
I think it would be much easier to vote for bike rider since this is bike site not a video production one.
  • + 1
i would have loved to see a larock video in this competition but silvia is awesome as well!
  • + 1
This contest isnt a pity party its about the best video and danny proved it should be him
  • + 1
Nah man, vicious path 2 is more inspiring than Silvia vid, Danny all the way, the guy must think in nobbles and psi!
  • + 1
well im a Dher but i was falling asleep during silvia Macaskill is just better
  • + 1
iiiuuhuuu...... fine both, severe choice but I prefer Silvia, technic and speed.
  • + 1
Can people stop trying to influence peoples decisions. Just let people vot on which video they find the best!
  • + 3
 SILVIA ALL THE WAY!
  • + 1
Would like to see a DH video win and they are both awsome videos, but the MTBcut has to get the vote
  • + 1
you cant look at it as who had the most money, its what video was filmed and edited the best.
  • + 4
I know it's another video but it proves even more that silva deserves to win: vimeo.com/33882948
  • + 2
The semi finals was hard enough to pic Dannys creative lines and soundtrack was astonishing ,Silvas protraying sun peaks with matt is down right divine it is on par with the hopson video in the semi .I have liked silvas videos all along and that is liked on f/b his work is consistant and detailed rivaling some of the best edits actually is the seg of going big at brad stuarts yard is prob my vote of vid of year. but golstein prod is a close second .The bar is so high now and the critics are tough .Nice prize from trek .do we the voters get random prizeing ?
  • + 3
Silvas submissions are hard to beat he will win maybe he should give the trek to brad stuart so he does not have to ride a kona. The new feature with matt hunter will be in the running for voy for end of 2012 its like a freight train that is unstoppable the momentum of the filmers talent. He is welcome to come film me anytime.
  • + 3
 Vote Matt.
  • + 0
I love both but I have to vote for Danny. I don't ride trials at all, but watching him is still the most inspiring thing I have ever seen on 2 wheels!
  • + 1
MTBcut for me. Music is spot on, great location ect. Always a WTF! moment in Dannys videos.
  • + 1
www.youtube.com/watch?v=sjZ36eiJq2A Like the music better in this clip.
  • + 1
how does the prize work? who gets the frame? it takes a team to make a video, does it go to the star rider or to the filmer?
  • + 1
 filmer.
  • + 1
im all for danny but really he is already sponsored by one of the biggest sponsors in mtb, silvia has my vote!!!! XD
  • + 3
 Voted for Danny
  • + 1
I proper love Danny mac but matt miles' video just gets you so pumped its such a hard decision :L
  • + 2
I can't choose between these two! Their both too sick!
  • + 0
The vid definitely makes me want to get out and ride but I've seen a few similar videos with similar riding style and camera angles. Can I dare say seen that played that?
  • - 2
My vote to the unique and amazing Danny For my Silvia is just another DH Video , which i have seen far too much already. Not to be negative on that video, but is just the same al year round, ive seen videos like that over here to, nothing that really excites somebody that has been riding for more than 2 decades, i believe it does produce adrenalin for new riders more teen like, but who really knowsthe essence of it, knows what to choose. My Humble view.
  • + 2
matt miles shreds and silvia shoots gold.
  • + 2
 Vote for Danny!! It's art
  • + 0
Voted for Silvia! I think that Danny doesn't need TREK Session DH bike)
Hope they will make a lot of new awesome videos!Go Silvia!!!)
  • + 1
danny doesnt need the session unless he trails a dh bike in one of his videos
  • + 1
he does and can look on you tube
  • + 1
Danny Macaskill - Industrial Revolutions THE BEST VIDEO.
  • + 2
 MTBCut gets my vote
  • + 2
 Silviaa!!!
  • + 2
 go silvia !!
  • + 2
 Styles for Miles!
  • + 1
dannys video is based on his skill and not the skill of the camera man,
  • + 1
whats the song on Matt Miles Silvia Edit?
  • + 1
Sad that not a single bmx video even made it for the competition Frown
  • + 0
Man if Silvia wins idk what they're going to do with the frame....they're sponsered by specialized
  • + 6
Matt doesnt have a pro sponsorship with that company , he bought that bike because he liked that bike. All there films come out of there pocket and they work 9-5 regular jobs like everyone else. shredhard works at a local bike shop here in town and is always so helpful. I think if they win that bike, its going to be used in there up coming films
  • + 1
I know Dylan, Karl, and matt. Karl and Marty have a sponsership with specialized and cafe and Dylan has a sponsorship with Lima and cafe
  • + 1
 Kona**
  • + 1
Silvia's videos juts get me so stoked.
  • + 1
Silvia, Matt Miles is sick, Silvias sick, give it to Matt!
  • + 1
There can only be one !!!!!!!!
  • + 0
MTBcut for me, music is better and just generally love the riding and really shows that you can do anything with a bike :d
  • + 2
 Silvia!
  • + 0
Really? These are the two videos that made it to video OF THE YEAR...? Really?...
  • + 0
 ....
Really...?
  • + 1
 Yes they are
  • + 1
Ain't no shame in losing to Macasill.
  • + 1
could you make a tougher decision?
  • + 2
 Stu Thomson !
  • + 2
 silvia. YA KNOW!
  • + 1
Danny is a awesome i voted for him
  • + 1
Both are worthy but I think the Utah one was better.
  • + 1
Absolutely! None got me more pumped to ride and showed off the direction of where hardcore mounting is heading like that video. It's a shame that bias toward downhill is swinging votes to where they aren't quite as deserved, no matter how great the DH videos are.
  • + 2
I woudl agree. Geoff's piece was awesome. questionable music ha, but awesome. should'a beat out matt miles @ sun peaks
  • + 1
Danny Macaskill WINNER by miles! that boy has some skill.
  • + 1
 Ripping!
  • + 0
