Freeriding the Wasatch Range - Video

Jan 9, 2017 at 8:52
by Kenda Tire

In summer 2016, Sasha Yakovleff and Stephen Graham set out on a campaign to make the Freeride scene great again in Utah. Filmed in various locations around Park City and Salt Lake City, this video was created to inspire riders to get out on whatever bike you have, pick whatever terrain suits your riding style, and go send it. Mountain biking for us isn't black and white or driven by race results, it's about having fun with friends on whatever terrain you can discover or build. Thanks to Kenda Tires for the support!

@dro-cfr: sure does. gets better every year

@dro-cfr: still there in all its glory.

@dro-cfr: Its probably the most popular and used trail in the area I'd say. Its insane how many people have gotten into riding or moved into state because of the riding in the past 6-7 years.

@dro-cfr: Bobsled was fantastic the later part of the summer. A lot of work was put in to make it faster/flowier!

@dro-cfr: I remember crashing hard on bobsled back in 1990.

Anyone know where any of those Wasatch trails in the first half are?
  • 1 0
@jpcrockett: Ha, every once in a while it gets vandalized by hikers- so i wouldn't say definitively that it gets better every year!

Great video! I live in Utah and the Wasatch is super underrated. Makes me want to go ride on my Maxxis Minions.

the goal was to make you go ride kenda tires - like, um, a Nevengal - have they had anything good since that came out like a decade ago?
  • 1 0
@shredmdp: Mike!!! I miss the days of us all shredding Empire man!!

Fun video indeed. Though, I'm relatively certain some of those trails in S Utah (could be Moab or Virgin but looks like St. George to me) are illegal to ride I mean, you could tell some of them weren't even trails. Not sure I'll be buying anything Kenda in the future. (Like I would anyway; the bike I had when I was 7 years old had some Kenda components on it...)

 @dbendixen: "freeriding" "illegal"
  • 1 0
@Olboi: you mention those words like they go hand in hand. Rampage gets permission for the trails they ride. All the other official events ride on legal trails. Free riders with this attitude of "it's not free riding if it's on a legal trail" are the ones who get trails and entire trail systems closed for the rest of us.

 Great video.

However, with 250" of snow and counting in the Wasatch, I can wait until spring for this.

Going to be a green summer! First year in a while without a ski pass. I'm having withdrawals since I can't ski or bike!

@hamncheez: Coming off an injury/surgery? I'm coming off a damn near 2 year nightmare of limited to no skiing or riding. Hang in the man.
  • 1 0
@thebigschott: Ha, had a baby. Well I didn't have one, my wife did. Sacrifice, but at least worth it. I've been lucky enough that all my injuries are always upper body injuries that come right before or during ski season, so I just ski without poles.

@hamncheez: I had shoulder surgery last winter so pretty pumped to be back on snow. So lucky to get this snow, too!

This video really made me miss riding these trails...then I remembered it just snowed a few feet, Utah sure does suck. Great riding and editing dudes, I have always thought of riding that gravel/sand mound on lower Empire Pass!

Nice. Looking forward to riding some dirt again in the Spring.

That was excellent, as pointed out by others the quality of FPS was immediately noticeable. Loved the riding and song choice too.
