The video does the track no justice. I'll admit, a few of the fontana tracks have been a bit "enduro-ish" but this one was GNARLY. The rock sections are much worse, and everything is steeper, and MUCH siltier than shown. And remember, these KHS guys are sick. And yes, Gwin was there. He killed it until he had a flat. Ill give ya that the Wall does kill a bit of it, but it just makes you pace yourself, train your endurance, and learn to sprint effectively. Also throws in a bit of strategy with Type of bike, suspension set up, etc. It's one location in socal, and people are comparing it to Europe... Only a bit of a size and terrain difference...

americans are gonna have a tough time at europe if they keep racing at tracks like this. good sprinting workout at the wall though

surprise surprise, another negative comment on the track there. Funny too that Aron Gwinn often races this track and has had two of the most dominant seasons ever racing on euro dh tracks. KHS video guys, please choose some less vulgar music for your next videos... others nice job!

yes, sprint training for gwiny ,Dh train elsewhere
  • 3 0
 @westeast but Gwinn was there?
  • 10 1
 It's "Gwin".
  • 16 1
People race here during the winter before the real races start

Haha @donpinpon29! Maybe these DH races are just disguised at good trainings for the top American Enduro Racers that are constantly on top of your precious Euro Enduro podiums!

Wait a minute...hold on, that didn't make any sense! Shit, are we good at anything?

Rappers bragging about their Gatts never gets old.

 Great Enduro warm up

Is this what DH still looks like? No wonder no one gives a shit. Blank Stare
  • 2 0
Fontana is a poor representation of American downhill. Whatch some of the eastern state races or some that are in port Angeles. Full rowdiness

At first I was like sickkkk, and then I was a lot like Ohhhh
  • 12 0
kind of like everyone who races here haha
  • 13 1
Lower section looks like a lot of flat pedalling for a dh race. One rock garden section where crowd was looks gnarly but rest is almost like an enduro race. Now i know why they are running single crown bikes.
  • 4 0
That's why most guys will run a 6" travel bike. It is for sure a dead sprint at the end.
  • 17 2
 strange track
  • 4 0
Yep. I remember there being a whole lot more graffiti on that wall. Not a scenic way to end a race but it's fun overall.

+1 for the Biggie edit on vid 1!! There's nothing that can't be made better with a bit of Big Poppa.
  • 10 2
That head cam - what the hell? Who ends a downhill race with an 80 second pedal??
  • 18 3
 ^ Fontana newbie ^
  • 7 4
Looks more like an enduro race to me.
  • 10 0
Fontucky ran the sprint at the finish long before Enduro was a thing. Maybe it's not the best DH course on the planet, but it's local, cheap to race, beginner friendly, best crowd in the pits anywhere, and you can race through the winter. Hopefully this year's terrible winter will light a fire under Big Bear or Summit's ass to bring a WC race back to SoCal.
  • 4 7
On the strength of that track I hope to god they never host a WC race there. That plain and simple was not a DH track.
  • 6 0
Fontucky will never host a WC race, but it would be funny to read the comments on Pink Bike.

Love the KHS group and guys. Fantastic, nice people. Stop complaining about Fontana being not DH enough. It's a good course for where it is and how it started. What about Seat Otter? Every pro is there, and it's a Super D course with the winner of the DH on a 29er. If you want DH, come ride Bootleg Canyon. That'll harden you the f*ck up and usually shuts everyone up too. But that's too extreme you say!! By the way, Logan kills it there all the time. Everyone has courses of flavor to benefit their taste, so in a race series, that's why they are different, spreads it out. Fontana is a warm up series so-to-speak for the real WC/US Gravity series. Next time you speak up, ride the course first, then get back us.

Race was off the hook, everyone was insaneincluding the audience

It was a fun weekend riding bike shaped objects.

I've seen more uphill than downhill... totally different type of 'downhill' contest compared to the rest of world....
  • 22 1
I did a race there for the first time a few weeks ago. It's a pretty fun mountain, and the top half of the track was reasonably technical and challenging, but without the flat part it would just be too short.

The reality of racing bikes in California is that there are only a few places that will let you. The environment is too precious to ride bikes on (but if you are a developer, by all means, pave away).
  • 6 0
The reason there is so much coverage is because this is one of the only race series that happens during winter. The progrt races and underworld cup races are a completely different monster
  • 8 0
Big bear should have more DH races. That would be cool but it seems like it will be a while before those come back.
  • 7 0
would be cool, but they definitely would need to make a real dh track. one that is steep and natural. and considering they are only adding 1 new trail this year that is a green "flow" trail, I doubt we will see a real track anytime soon
  • 7 1
Someone needs to start an underground race series, sort of like illegal street racing. JK
  • 2 0
did a race like that but double the time , fast guys where in the high 3min low 4min range and it was hell LOL . i ran in the 5min range damn near hyperventilated towards the end .

Best Fontana vid yet. Great job guys!
  • 4 0
my sweet sombrero is all up in this shit
  • 4 0
I got worn out watching that

Tracks always look week in video but I was there that track was gnarly except for the end there is a lot of pedaling because it's a small mountain/hill.
  • 6 3
Track looks pretty 29er er I mean enduro friendly.
  • 3 1
I used to ride that on my stumpy. No hating but it's true. The races are fun though
  • 1 0
Watching that Crankworx video before this one totally ruined it. I'm sure Fontana is nice and all but you can't compete with Crankworx.
  • 1 0
Top section looked really good, bottom section pointless. And to think that people slagged off PMB and Cairns for having to many pedally sections!
  • 2 0
 Sony?
  • 4 6
Are you trying to convince us there's no better hills in California to host a downhill race? This track would be lame in the 90's.
  • 1 3
And riding and bullshits...and riding and bullshits...and riding and bullshits yoyoyo
