Feb 17, 2024Med Party Carbon Chamelon 27.5 Plus
$2100 USDThis bike is sweet. I called it my party hardtail. It was my second bike. Long days on easier terrain or perfect for after work or if the weather conditions are rough. Or if you wanna make easier trails fun again. The insert in the rear gives you confidence if it gets chunky. Rev Grip for the long descents
It weighs about 27lbs. All the weight is in the tires, run it low for maximum traction. Better grip in wet conditions.
The headtube angle is about 66 with the fork at 140mm. Grip shift to keep it fun, XX1 to keep it light.
New rear brake pads.
Scratch or two on the top tube, The head badge is scratched from a bike packing trip. The handle bars were discounted and bought that way with the sun fade. Some superficial paint chips from minor crashes., One on the bottom is the worst and is from kicking up a rock on the trail with no signs of structural damage.

Video: Tech Tuesday - How To Bleed Shimano Brakes
make sure to close the free-stroke screw after opening to get the extra bubbles, before removing the cup. not that I think it does anything, but it can get bubbles in it apparently

Video: Tech Tuesday - How To Bleed Shimano Brakes
this is bad information. This bleeding caused me the problems that Shimano brakes are known for. The reason and I got told this from a Shimano employee at a Shimano tent, at a Moab bike event. By pushing fluid from bottom to top, you are carrying dirty oil to your levers, which is the last place you want it.
remedy, cup bleed, play with lever a whole bunch till dirt comes out, just from the top.
then start over with fresh oil, gravity bleed till clean out the bottom making sure to keep the cup topped off.
close the bottom, and clean the area. then with the cup still attached,
give a couple of pumps, move the "free stroke screw" couple of turns out, and pump again, and you should get a couple of extra bubbles. (these cause the problems that most people face, in a combo with the grime).
Close and you should be good for at least 2 months of solid riding. (after that you get a couple of worthwhile cup bleeds, but need to repeat the full service) yes, they are a lot of work, will I run Shimano brakes on my next bike? probably not. Do they work? only if this procedure is followed, IMO
There is a video of Greg Minamar and his tech following the same procedure on a cup bleed https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EcVDaHgetdw
