PRESS RELEASE: Kona Bicycles

For the 2019 race season we wanted to do something a little special for our Gravity team riders and their race bikes. Inspired in part by major team sponsor RockShox' incredibly fast looking (and performing) Lyrik lowers, we'd like to present you with the Team Issue Kona Process 153 CR DL.

Connor Fearon, Miranda Miller, Rhys Verner, and Shelly Flood will be shredding these bikes at EWS races and at select enduro events this season, built up as you see here with a plethora of parts from our fabulous 2019 team partners.

The Kona Gravity Team Process bikes are fully custom built from the ground up and feature a full suspension setup from RockShox, drivetrain and brakes from SRAM, rims from Canadian company WeAreOne, hubs and headset from Chris King and tires from Maxxis. The cockpit combines parts from Deity, OneUP and ODI and the build is rounded out with pedals from HT and tire inserts from Cush Core.

Miranda Miller and Rhys Verner will be taking the new Team Issue Process Bikes for their maiden race outings this weekend at the Tennessee National, an EWS qualifying event based out of the Windrock Bike Park.

 Too much green.
  • + 10
Especially because Cushcore sells those in black.
  • + 6
 @cyrways: and in red
  • + 37
Nah man it's a hat tip to Sriracha
  • + 0
maybe cushcore said they must run green valves to represent their company better
  • + 16
I did not see the valve stem and thought this was a genius color blindness joke.
  • + 25
I wouldn't want to change a thing, that thing is dialled!
  • + 23
 WOLVERINES!!!!!!!!

"john has a long mustache, john has a long mustache"

@sterlingmagnum. Gotta watch it at least once a year...classic.! The remake was a joke.
  • + 2
@olddude: so good! Remake.... I couldn’t bring myself to watch it.... you dont mess with perfectionWink

Let's hear about these new We Are One rims!
  • + 8
 nicest wheels I've ever owned!!
  • + 4
@BrotherCraig75: I am waiting on their new release to finally buy a set!
  • + 4
Well just don't lace 'em to Chris King hubs or your wheels gonna be:
ex...pen......sive!

So much red on those bikes, they are going to be FAST (everyone knows red is faster, it's just science)
  • + 5
Hotter too, all winter clothes should be red, unless you like being cold?
  • + 8
Damn, that is a beautiful bike! The want factor is high!
  • + 8
 Needs chrome lettering
  • + 7
 Needs Plaid WR1 decals
  • + 4
Funny how the fork is a little hidden in the picture. Looks like the new lyrik ultimate is out in the wild .
  • + 1
what is the lyrik ultimate? can find nothing with a search.
  • + 1
@jamesbrant: Check my profile. I posted several comments about the new sram stuff.
  • + 4
 Missing the red Code's calipers
  • + 4
They sure are hiding that fork for RS
  • + 1
Painting the frame the same exact color as the fork lowers? Great. Adding mismatched red hub, chain guide, grips, bars, etc... oof
  • + 1
The bike looks good, but it's mainly cosmetic. There are some misses on the process that eliminate it from my most wanted list.
  • + 2
Kona is clearly finalizing the process of creating the remedy for anything that EWS can throw at you
  • + 3
God damn that's a slack looking seat angle!
  • + 1
Good eye, bohner. I got a nice long ride in on this bike at Outerbike and if I had to choose one thing to change it would be the STA. Caveat I was on the xl so shorter riders might be fine. I had to slam the seat all the way forward to get close to a comfortable climbing position. I love the way this one looks tho and would like to hear how it handles a coil. Rad bike.
  • + 2
Actual vs. effective illusion, I think. Kona's published STA is 75.8 deg for the L size.
  • + 1
 @cyclecuse:

numbers lie just as easily as the eye. the sta feels a little slack on this bike for taller riders. comparing to bikes like the sentinel, ripmo, and sb130.
  • - 1
Yeah the seat angle is the one thing I'd change on mine. Way too slack - at full extension its like pedalling a recumbent
  • + 1
@Naturel: no its slack... I'm 6,3 and the sb130 nailed the SA for us.
  • + 4
 Sick rig! Go Miranada!
  • + 1
If this Bike could run a Coil i would throw one on in a heartbeat! The rear suspension design needs some “love” & a coil may be just the trick!
  • + 10
In the first photo it has a coil on it.
  • + 0
 @beaverbandit: ???? eye
  • + 6
I run a super dlx coil on mine and its the real deal.
  • + 2
Don't they sell one with a coil?
  • + 1
You can get a Zocchi coil for it.
  • + 0
@scottiemac: Really i bet that must be like magic.. on the one i tested youtu.be/dbE41QoAiJE the suspension felt a bit stiff & almost harsh to me with the air for some reason.. I am used to a Reign with a coil tho, so probably most bikes will feel different in the traction department without a proper shock to shock vs. suspension platform comparison~
  • + 3
Running a Vivid R2C on my 2015. It does what it says on the tin
  • + 1
@Naturel: Point being that the 2019 leverage curve is better fitted to a coil ("The new leverage curve is designed around metric trunion-mount shocks, but it will also play nice with coil-sprung shocks to boot" - Ian Schmitt) so if it works with the more linear 2015, I can't see the problem with a 2019 working.
  • + 2
 Get a Push coil
  • + 3
Needs Panaracer XC Pro red sidewall tires.
  • + 0
Better with IRC Missiles 0r Panaracer Fire FR 26"x2.4, BUT only not available in 26"?
  • + 1
No AXS? I wonder if that was the racers’ choice or if they just didn’t have anything in stock.
  • + 1
Factory Trek......quick.....someone is trying to copy your team colourway lol
  • + 1
definitely rides great with a coil too! Miranda Chose the air but I chose the coil on the exact same bike.
  • + 2
Thing is dialed! Missed opportunity to run the red cushcore valves
  • + 1
 Wow that looks amazing Drool
  • + 1
Looks fantastic! Ruined by a regular reverb that will break
  • + 1
Sweet ride, red like my more affordable Norco Range 29 nice bike.
  • + 1
Worst bike I rode in 2018 was the 153
  • + 1
So stoked for Miranda this season!!!
  • + 0
Embarrassed to show pictures of the PressFit BB?
  • + 1
 SWEET !!
  • + 1
 Sick looking bike
  • - 1
How about a proper photo without the sun behind it? I mean the entire point is about the colour and we can barely see it...
  • + 1
Red is one of the worst colours to shoot
  • + 1
 That bike looks sweet!!!
  • + 0
Bottle cages look bad. Come at me.
  • + 1
 Bloody.
  • + 0
 Gonna wait on 36er!
