Holy Potatoes - the boys have come across something truly beautiful!

Japan - The land of the rising sun, The land of friendly warm people, The land of the worlds best trails! Rather than hopping on board the usual Landship for this years big Dudes outing it was onto a lengthy plane journey to Japan…..

It is somewhere we have always wanted to visit. With the allure of a different culture and some incredible terrain. We left Scotland not knowing what sort of riding we would come across but from day 1 on the bikes in Fujimi we were having the time of our lives!!

A big lap of the island taking in Bamboo forests, lush hillsides to high Volcanic peaks Japan delivered us up a delightful treat, day after day!!

With a place secured firmly in our hearts a trip back will not be far away!!!

Enjoy!

My girlfriend doesn't understand why I get so excited when these come out. Every time she glanced over they were bathing. She's now questioning our relationship.

Ha ha, my girlfriend is the same.

Do your girlfriends ride? Mine does, and is just as excited as me to see the next episode. Screwing around in the woods and having a laugh is the universal language of mountain biking, across all genders and races.

My wife rides, and she likes skinny British dudes in their spanks, she also likes noodles... so this vid was a win win for her! Crap, now I gotta worry about her running off with the dudes of hazard!

Where the F do you find Dual Slalom in Japan?! I'm in Japan at least 2-4 weeks every year, and i've never thought of bringing my bike :o

BTW, Japan is one amazin country, and it looks like it has some amazing trails too ! I'm bringing the bike next time !

You can find the course in Fujimi Panorama. I saw them in Fujiten which doesn't appear in this movie. They're absolutely fast.
  • 3 0
Thank you ! It looks so much fun ! Mostly i'm just there to relax and maybe look for a new car next time, Japan is really the best country i've ever travelled to.

But i think i have to bring my bike also next time :p

Dudes, if you come again, look up some locals here on PB well in advance and there are some great hidden wonders...the need planning in advance.
  • 4 0
just the perfect balance, life on the road, how to take a shower, eat properly and riding there's no going to know the local and kids trying your bike, it was cool back in the days but in 2015 the dudementary is the perfect balance riding and how to get to the next spot riding

Total bike bumming bliss! Loved it.

Great video, amazing and fun country. You boys blew it on the food though. We just asked someone to help us order everywhere and our meals were amazing! The Japanese love to "practice" English!
  • 9 0
We did try boomerbaird but Liam is severely allergic to nuts and i an a fussy veggy. We also pretty much just rode all day, were exhausted and then ate a pot noodle. oops. The Japanese have got really good english for us foreign weapons to get by with!

Extremely disappointed by the level of Liam's jumping into bodies of water in this episode.
  • 9 0
Apologies @webbe ! I'm disappointed in myself too! haha Sadly we didn't locate any good spots! I'll try and make up for it soon!!

A huge thanks to you Lads for making these. They are, by far, my favorite mtb related viewing, including Rampage, WC DH, high budget films etc etc. Please keep it up! Great laughs and great riding.

off beat, funny, a little less cinematic from the standard PB movie, with just a touch of copyright name infringement, nice work

I am in Japan every year with the wife and kids to see the in-law/grandparents thing. Probably not going there this year and have been thinking to go less and less, but if someone can tell me where to find great trails near to Osaka then please let me know. It has absolutely perfect terrain for it and perfect conditions for the apres bike with all the onsen (hot spring) so really should be a mtn bike mecca the same way it is a ski and snowboard mecca.

Fantastic as usual, those back wheel turns are increasingly becoming an artform. Shame about the weather but you made the most of it as usual and looks like the sun came out for the last day. Can't wait for the next one!

I wish I had friends who were this cool to hang out with! All my friends think I'm stupid for risking my safety riding mountain cycles, especially my mom. Next time you guys visit Canada you can be my buds for the weekend and ride the fraser valley. Plenty of rope swings and cliff jumping?
  • 3 0
@Mountainman84 Sounds ideal! rope swings and cliff jumps are high on the list!! I'm sure if you show your friends the way of risking their safety they'll all be loving life soon too!!

Awesome! Any locals able to give some info about how to get a day of MTB riding in when I visit Tokyo next July? Apparently it's going to be super humid but won't let that stop me!
  • 1 0
well... you need a car to go to fujiten or fujimi panorama (should takes about 2h). Never been to fujiten but heard some good comments about. Fujimi panorama offers some great trails but only few jumps, no wooden features, no big banks or whatever you can find in usual bike parks. Also lot of brake bumps. Not sure if it worth the money and time you will spend for this. Depend also on where you usually ride in your country and your level.
  • 6 0
We highly recommend both places. Fujten goes down as day of the year with us boys. Unbelievable grippy volcanic dirt, amazing trails and a fast lift.
  • 1 0
I got to spend an awesome couple of days (very wet and rainy days) in Fujimi Panorama a couple of years ago. Luckily the Japanese MTB nationals were just taking place... Such a weird experience being a foreigner traveling alone, hardly speaking a word of Japanese. Anyway, i had a blast! even wrote a short piece about it to my local MTB magazine here.

Some super sketchy wet root sections, and some bits of pure warp speed. Indeed, it has less man made features compared to most bike parks in Europe, but the trails are super fun!

Anyway, i'd say its fun regardless what type of DH you're used to. But bear in mind that the trails are more on the "natural" side, and that bike rental and a daily lift pass do cost quite a bit...

Did 11 runs that day... got back so knackered, but with such a grin Smile

There are a whole bunch of US service personnel based in Kanagswa that ride and that maintain local trails.... Take a look on FB at Mountain Bike Gaijin and see if they are doing anything when you are here...
  • 1 0
Hey! Thanks for the information. Natural trails are definitely preferred so that's fine with me.

I don't think the "noxious gases" at 9:26 were coming from the volcano. You dudes need to lay off the pot noodles.

You guys were so close to the real cheddar, but missed a lot of riding spots. Near Asama, Hakuba, the tunnels near Mastushiro, etc
