As a young father having the pleasure of raising a daughter (5 weeks old) Emily embodies the free spirit, and enthusiasm i wish to instill in my own. Great roll model, the passion is just so real!
Enjoy the process. I have 7yr old twin girls who are starting to rip singletrack, riding with them and seeing the fun they have with it is as gratifying as it gets. Getting run bikes for them at age 2 definitely helped.
I will be showing them this video asap.
Our top sportswomen don't get enough coverage. Our top XC racers don't get enough coverage. This hits the nail on the head for me. Yes, Emily Batty is really really ridiculously good-looking, and that's probably why many of us pressed play. But look how fast she is! Look how humble, look how driven. A stunning role-model for the sport.
If I had to guess, it eases her grips on the bars. a lot of grip strength comes from the middle and ring finger, right? So you can't be ham-fisted if one of those fingers is on the brakes.
If its a reach issue, couldn't you just adjust the lever in? depends on brakes of course, but don't most brakes have that feature now? whether you need a tool or not.
"stop throwing manure at us!" - pretty sure her older kid brothers weren't using the word manure... Making your little sister eat "manure" .. that part rings true.
Good video, I have a 9 and a 10 year old daughter that I am very close on pulling the trigger on a high end 26" XC bike for each of them. I cant wait for the day that I will be having to be the one to catch up to them!
Wow....never followed XC and have never heard of hear. First thought is wowza, second man she is fast and now I hear that she is from Ontario. Speechless.
Ya, I lived in your paradise for a year. Rode okanogan and north shore, rusty muffler, upper oil can, espresso(to name a few)beauty.we dont have trails to match, but perhaps Ont will get a good bike comunity.....ours is pretty weak still in comparison...
Hey Farmer Batty, your daughter is hot! She also happens to be a great athlete as well, obviously very intelligent too, so good job on raising her. You must be proud!

just a guess though.
I seen Missy G doing the same on her DH run this year. Must be a woman thing.
Not saying its wrong. Just curious.
