Opinion: How Many Batteries Does a Mountain Bike Really Need?
I love electric!!!!! Elite road bike technology accidentally bridges gap between mountain bike and BMX!!!! For the most part I agree with everyone saying its an expensive alternative that does the same thing as regular cable shifting. However, ... If you are inspired by guys like Brandon Semenuk, this technology allows you to spin bars with zero affect on derailleur alignment!! Not for everyone, but definitely a game changer.

5 Things We Learned from Red Bull Rampage 2021
How about Rampage as a jam session instead of a competition? I absolutely love the event, but i have a few observations about its current format. -The scoring seems to be a little condescending. Its freeriding, so riders are free to choose their line down the mountain. However, not all lines are scored equal, therefore line choice is actually an illusion if one actually hopes to be competitive in the Competition. See Tommy G and Riddle's run for example. -declaring a single winner seems ridiculous when we all know know runs didnt happen without a team of builders. -Amazing riders seriously injuring themselves before the competition even starts. Its all or nothing? -Home turf advantage is real. Semenuk's riding is amazing! But he has been building and riding his own lines as a day job for the past several years. Rampage is just another week at the office for him. Meanwhile, other riders are likely contractually obligated to compete in as many other competitions as possible. Almost all of which have pre determined courses except for this one. I love the direction Semenuk is pushing the sport, but is an unfair advantage that he is the only rider who gets to train year round for this style of event.

Final Results: Red Bull Rampage 2021
I wonder if Rampage should be approached as more of a social event rather than a competition. A few reasons why i feel this way. -Riders risking their lives only to find out at the bottom of their run that they never even stood a chance because they have been working on the wrong line for a week. -Very talented riders are pushing the boundaries of the sport and injuring themselves on course before the "competition" even begins. -A single person winning this event seems odd when you consider how many people put in time to make each run happen. -scoring different routs down the mountain against each other suggests that trail conditions/gnarlyness plays a major factor in each score. Yet as near as i can tell, a back flip with a terrifying side wind scores the same as a backflip in perfect conditions off the same jump. I think there are too many variables to declare a definitive winner. let the best riders in the world risk their lives on their own terms while the rest of us celebrate the progression of the sport! Everyone wins.

Pinkbike Poll: Who is the Red Bull Rampage Pinkbike's Choice Winner?
@RidleyRijder: I really liked his run too! I thought he should have scored way higher with those opposite spins! Its not my place to say, but it is possible he took a more easy rout down compared to other riders.

Bike Check: Ethan Nell's Custom Rampage 27.5"/26" YT Tues
I hope all the bike manufacturers that stopped offering wheel size options are taking notes. I feel like the companies i wanted to support this year turned into used car salesmen and tried to force me onto a wheel size i didnt want.

@plumberso: and ABS too im sure. Ill believe it when I see it . I think electric braking would create more modulation issues than anything else. Hydraulic shifting on the other hand could solve cable stretch and twisting issues

Brandon Semenuk's Slopestyle Inspired Red Bull Rampage Bike
Tailwips and barspins in Rampage all the way! Electric shifting for the win! No more cable twisting! Unfortunately that front brake routing wares out the cable extra fast! Im sure it doesn't get a second thought from sponsored riders who get replacements for free. But it is a costly draw back for the rest of us. I believe there is a much better way to route the front brake cable so it doesn't bend as aggressively, go in the tire, or kink when the suspension bobs.
