Chris Akrigg takes our cargo bike, the Envoy out for a spin in typical Akrigg fashion. Special guest appearance by the Legion L100.

Disclaimer: Riding the Envoy cargo bike like Chris Akrigg will most likely void the warranty. We suggest keeping it on the streets and don't try and put your friends in the side bags.

Mongoose is really lucky to have a rider like Chris to represent them.

The fact the marketing team was like "Hey Chris, We need a video like tomorrow for this new product we're putting out"
Chris "ok cool I have some cool new ideas of rad trails with some big drops and stuff. You know really show off my skills"
Marketing Team "Did we not mention it's a cargo bike?"
Chris "...."

 “a rider like Chris”?
  • 10 0
Well, if you're going to market a cargo bike, this might be the best way to do it.
  • 34 1
I dont get why people think this. its the rider, not the bike. Mongoose bikes are more than enough for 95% of riders. Quit looking down on more afordable brands, then complaining of overly expensive parts and bikes... I dont get it!

For real. Such a good ad from a company that's getting better every year, due in large part to their riders.

@stefanfresh: The BMX Team Bikes get built by Mike Laird. So it would be ideal to say that there is some bit to do with the bike.
However they certainly are still are more than capable for most just wanting to get out there.

@mi-bike: A unique and talented individual that rips and has fun no matter what bike he’s on!
  • 4 0
@Tinga: That's pretty much how it went, ha ha.
  • 3 0
@stefanfresh: Congratulations for the first bit of truth on the internet in weeks. But wait, I don't need a 10k bike?
  • 3 1
@stefanfresh: The problem is not the price, the problem is that their mtbs are just outdated. Long stem, narrow bars, steep geo, all for a price of 2k, which gets you much better bikes that even look better.

I would have no problem buying a mongoose if they actually did something different to set them apart.

@phops: Fair... This doesnt make a lot of sense to be honest, but also, their line up is pretty sweet. More expensive brands are still doing these things too!

Great job Chris I've already looked up that bike. Costco sells it for $499 and now I need one. N+1

I'm most impressed that they got both the BMX and the rider in the same cargo bag. Would've been much easier to put them in opposite sides surely.
  • 1 0
It way easier to do those sharp right turns with extra weight in the left side cargo bags. Kinda like a side car on a moto.
  • 1 0
@PigletOrange: That's nothing like a sidecar. Sidecars don't like any turns. They don't countersteer.

that wheelie was actually really impressive
  • 3 0
try as I might, I can't wheelie a cargo bike. Granted, I have never had a couple hundred pounds of ballast in the back...
  • 1 0
@RobKong: It makes a huge difference. When my kids were younger, my girlfriend would sometimes use the e-bike to bring them to school and then ride on to work. The e-bike has the motor in the rear wheel, the battery in the rack above the rear wheel. To make room for the seat for one kid on that cargo rack, the bags were offset to the rear (using an extender). The other kid would be dragged on her own bike, using the Follow-Me trailer. Obviously the weight of the trailer is only on the rear axle, but when accelerating it also pulls back. Yeah soon enough she had trouble keeping the front wheel down. On my own bike (without pedal assist) I usually had a kid in front of me too so that keeps it balanced. But yeah, some excess weight in the rear sure helps you lift the front wheel!

 It wheelie was wasn't it.

I like the way another rider has brought me to new lows. Because its not enough to make us all feel inadequate about our riding skills watching Danny MacAskill rip it up or watching Rampage, or all the manufacturer edits..... now I have to watch some guy shame me on a cargo bike. If I see someone doing manuals or riding A-line on a penny farthing I will give up!

Shots fired. Where's Yoann Barelli when you need him?
  • 12 0
Must be fake the inter it told me you can't wheelie with chainstays that long lol!

This is a local track of mine! Never in a million years did I expect Lake Crabtree to make it on the Pinkbike homepage
  • 2 0
Came here to say the same thing! Must have been filmed a few months ago, I can't remember the last time Crabtree was open with all the rain we've had. Also, bummer that these trails may become a quarry soon...

In my backyard! Crabtree trails and Marsh creek skatepark! ....What? No phone call??? That OTHER dood is XGames BMX veteran Leigh Ramsdell. He has taken up duties as Mongoose TM.

After reading the description, I was wondering when I missed that Leigh Ramsdell was now being referred to as "Legion L100."
  • 2 0
I thought that was Leigh! Got confused, cause it sounds like Akrigg calls him John. Good to see Leigh still shredding.
  • 1 0
@toast2266: he says: 'd'you wanna jump back in again?'
Not John
  • 3 0
Sorry Denny! I promise to call next time!
  • 1 0
@Leighramsdell: hahahaha! just bustin yer chops!! Glad you got some rides in!

I see a posting for a Chris Akrigg video, I'm watching it. Amazing and fun to watch rider. Actually has helped me improve as a rider also.

I'm a simple man. I see an Akrigg video. I drop everything and watch it. *Like*

The humor in Akrigg's videos is always good.

It's cold and unpleasant here & watching the video gave me a grim and a chuckle ~ Thanks for the Monday lift!

I fun video and the most likes comment says "depression". Pink bike has become the largest place where frustrated and spoiled teens/adults/dentist (and me sometimes) comes to release stress in the form of hate.

I recommend turning off your phone for 3 days. It wont kill you. Will actually make you alive again.

Ever tried to wheelie a cargo bike?
  • 2 0
@BenPea: read carefully bro, I said his videos. He shows so many awesome skills with various bikes. This, wheelie with cargo bike as you said, is easy for him. Read first, comment later lol
  • 2 1
@indobiker: I have bad wheelie envy and it blurs my powers of reasoning and literacy.
  • 2 0
He could ride a wooden stick and still kill it like no one else

When you're Chris Akrigg, riding skinnies on a cargo bike isn't hard enough, so you manual the whole thing lol.
