The first four shows of the 2015 Masters of Dirt - Beyond the Future by Monster Energy tour - managed to once more step things up even further in Vienna this past weekend.
A brand new show format played out in four sold out shows over three days. New segments were created to offer the loyal spectators of Austria´s capital town something different. More intensity, more twists and turns were taking place than at any previous show. The riders level was just outstanding. It was a Best-Of selection of Action Sport Athletes smashing their biggest tricks through the air of Vienna like Edgar Torronteras (FMX), Andreu Lacondeguy and Sam Reynolds (MTB) or American TJ Ellis (BMX).
BMX legend Pat Guimez had his own segment together with Bienvenido Aguado Alba, showing his big bangers like “Double Backflip No-Hander” and “Backflip Superman Seatgrab”. X-Games Gold Medalist Heath Frisby got nuts, landing even backwards on his sled. At the BMX segment guys were pulling double backflips and double frontflips like daily business while FMX Spaniard Marc Piñol twisted his “Inside Roll”. No spectator was kept on his seat while this awesome level of riding was shown by their heroes of Action Sport. Masters of Dirt pushed the level again!
And this was just the beginning of the Masters of Dirt Beyond the Future Tour 2015.
Let's whip it up! Practice session started with some straight up bangers.
Dawid Godziek's 360 tuck no hander on a bit smaller machine, yet no less style than his colleagues in FMX.
If you are a freestyle rider, you should know this logo. Fun fact - you can get a tattoo with this logo for free, if you come over to Stadhalle!
MadSkills MX or Pumped BMX? Hard to say...
Last minute maintenance to make sure everything is going to be safe and smooth to ride.
''Where should I mount it?''
Sam Reynolds giving his feedback on the event. Many riders were busy giving interviews to quite a lot of Media, which gathered to witness what MOD Crew prepared for us, this year...
And between riding dirt jumps and giving interviews, Sam decided to be a tattoo artist. Boris 'MadDog' Beyer was stoked. Can you guess what he got from Sam?
Last words of motivation and encouragement before the show from the boss, Georgie Fechter.
DJ Mosaken was steaming to play banging tunes to the massive crowd. Traditionally, the opening party went off with a big bang and people hungry for some action, didn't have to wait any minute longer.
This year's show was based on a synchronised runs. I must admit that riders came up with some were creative combinations.
Bienvenido Alba is the first one who nailed double Frontflip on MTB in 2011. Tonight, he repeated that insane trick in front of the MOD crowd.
Patrick Gumiez had has his own part of the show, as well. He's been working hard for weeks before shows in Vienna, it it paid of handsomely. Superman Double Seatgrab Flip in not a trick you can see on a daily basis.
Riders and crowd were feeding of each other. Excitement was already on a super high level and it was only beginning of the show!
Next on the stage was time for FMX riders. These guys are on the next level. Airtime allows them to do insane tricks and even guys like us, who are used to extreme sports, shake their heads when looking on that mind-blowing riding
James Carter from California has been to the show for the first time... He loved it here and the crowd loved him and his motorbike handling skills!
When everybody thought it couldn't get any better, FMX Duel dropped heavily, like a hammer hitting the head of the nail. No risk, no fun!
It's been amazing seeing the youngest generation of riders to have their time to shine...
Another cool part of the show was 'Highest Air' competition. And of course, Andreu wouldn't be himself, if he didn't make it look awesome!
However, it turned out that Tommy G, thanks to his classic technique, was the king of high jumps.
How many girls do you know who can pull a clean backflip on a set this big?
The one and only Gemma Corbera! When it comes to applause, Gemma deserves it all! Mega props to this girl... She is already working on new tricks too.
Let this picture put you in perspective of how big the whole event is...
The show finished in full success. A night-long celebration party is only about to start!
