The beautiful old town of Nuremberg welcomes us again for an epic freestyle mountain biking show. It's been a while since the last one, and you can feel tension of anticipation on these cobbled streets for one of the most spectator-friendly competitions of the year to go down. Some bad weather complicated the schedule, but most of the action went ahead, with some of the riding going beyond our imaginations. The qualification round was split over course of two days, so after only one run per rider we had that undoubted pleasure of viewing an amazing jam session for the Best Trick competition.

District Ride 2017
On Wednesday evening the course still looked like construction yard, but the building crew did an astonishing amount of great work and everything was tip-top waiting for the riders on the very next day.

Szymon Godziek's bike decided to go on a eurotrip without him. Luckily, it came back to the rightful owner just on time for the last practice call on Friday.

Rainy clouds passing over Bavaria heavily shortened up practice session, yet fortunately riders had just enough time to bite into the course and find their groove.

District Ride 2017
Martin Soderstrom takes the best of his own creating and as per usual, he does it with style.
District Ride 2017
It was great to see them all session together district after district and having tons of fun out of riding as a big freestyle family.

District Ride 2017
Definitely one of the biggest thing Martin hit recently, but it's not like he can't handle it. Never enough of this guy riding!

bigquotesCrazy amount of legal restrictions stopped me from designing my ultimate dream track, but I think this was blessing in disguise, as it forced me to create simpler, yet super fun and flowy course. And it seems like all the riders are really enjoying it what makes me a truly happy man!Martin Soderstrom

After a several hours of practice session, it was time to go and show present their skill to the judges and big public gathered on the streets of Nuremberg.

District Ride 2017
Nico Scholze had a great run until a disaster struck on the last jump before the District 5. His bike suffered a mechanical and he was forced to skip the big jump what surely badly affected his score.

District Ride 2017
Ryan Nyquist is looking very comfortable here and he loves the trick jump. Sadly, he had a minor slip up on his qualification run, however no doubt he's going to be able to recover from that.
District Ride 2017
Erik Fedko, the wildcard winner is super stoked to be here. He's going big, trains hard and wants to make a mark of his presence during this event. Fingers crossed for this young lad.

District Ride 2017
Mehdi Gani sits in 15th after the first round of quali. Surely, he's got enough in his tank to make the cut for the finals.

District Ride 2017
Same goes to Matt Jones who does not want to watch the event from sidelines. We can expect some burly tricks from him.

District Ride 2017
Lukas Knopf was not slacking during the practice and it was visible at the qualification. So far, at the lucky 13 spot.

District Ride 2017
Air Canada should hire this guy! Anthony Messere boosts to the moon and back.

District Ride 2017
Logan Peat, calm and collected, battling for his place in the finals.

District Ride 2017
Sam Pilgrim is not thinking of wasting the opportunity given to him by his team mate, Max Fredriksson. Quite opposite, he is fully focused and wants to show that this is the place where he really belongs.
District Ride 2017
Diego is hungry for podium and it's clearly manifested in his determination and style of riding.

District Ride 2017
That's one way of coming down to the main town square from the Imperial Castle proudly overlooking the whole Nuremberg.

District Ride 2017
Tomas Lemoine brings his stylish tricks to the table.
District Ride 2017
Slowy, but surely finding his pace. Tomas Genon goes to 7th place.

District Ride 2017
Torquato Testa is not lacking of big tricks and he feels like a fish in the water here.

District Ride 2017
Strongly motivated with his recent successes, Jakbu Vencl opens top 5.

District Ride 2017
Nicholi Rogatkin safe in the 4th. He's got plenty more to bring in this comp.

District Ride 2017
Szymon Godziek and one of his favourite tricks, backflip one foot cancan.

District Ride 2017
Focused and composed as always, yet surely feeling a bit of pressure here. Emil unleashed creative tricks with flawless style.

District Ride 2017
Ding! Emil elevated himself to the 2nd place after the first quali run.
District Ride 2017
Brett Rheeder on his way for the number one spot.

District Ride 2017

District Ride 2017
In a very much Brett's manner, he sits comfortably in the highest place before the second round of qualification.

District Ride 2017
Right after qualification, all attention was on the biggest jump on the course for the Best Trick jam. The crowd was observing the madness with their eyes and mouths wide open.

District Ride 2017
Nicholi Rogatkin goes into the history books with a 1440! These old buildings have seen a lot in past few centuries, but nothing like this!

District Ride 2017
Massive congratulations!

@sergiorgdh: yeah I really doubt he did it intentionally, but being in Nuremberg out of all places it is more than a little awkward..

@Levin192: maybe they should settle it with a trials competition, could call it the "nuremburg trials"
