They blew so much on marketing back in the day. I was in the bike industry and handled print buying and production and remember on year they put out 3 different (DH, CX and one road or something)really nice perfect-bound catalogs....i ball-parked the whole print job at well north of $100k for just the printing (design and photography was good as well). I predicted that the next year we would not see much and sure enough i asked a guy at a tradeshow and he said they were going all online. That and signing B-Lopes for a season (if that) must've set'em back.
