Update: JD Sports Buys Back Calibre Parent Company for £56.5 Million After Putting it in Administration Earlier This Week
Don't forget that JD Sports, Blacks, Go Outdoors and Millets are all part of the Pentland Group which must be looking at the different retail brands within their portfolio. Expect Blacks and Millets to disappear from the high street very soon.

Video: A Life of Riding with Anne-Caroline Chausson in 'We Always Keep Riding'
For me she will always be the GOAT. I know that Rachel may be getting close to the all time UCI wins in DH, but I don't expect her to go and win an Olympic Gold Medal any time soon or an EWS. (There is still time though).

Evans Cycles Instagram Taken Over by Disgruntled Employees, Renamed 'Make Evans Great Again'
I used to like Evan's until I went for an interview at one of their stores about 15 years ago and learned about the kind of micro management they out their sales staff under. Not through their store managers but from their central retail policy they develop. Right I'm going to name and shame here, my local store in Reading is typical of this. I Go in, browse, see if there's a bike that in interested in (latest Norco Sight for example), see if the guy on the shop floor might come over and say "hey can I help"........ but no I'm clearly not making the right engagement signs for someone to engage with me. Their staff also seem to have little knowledge of the products they stock at their Gatwick warehouse and just end up checking their own customer website for the info. Stores like this need a shake-up, they need to listen to their customers, the ones who are passionate about cycling not about looking great in the latest gear but about actually getting out their and riding their bikes. The shop I used to love was Mud Dock in Bristol, used to love the way this was a bike shop/cafe/live music venue and the staff really cared.

Or you could hit the drop just once, miss out on any rep's and call it the 'publican', which would have a completely different meaning entirely.

Norco Introduces New Line of Progressive Youth Mountain Bikes
Yup it is definitely an expensive time to be a parent, hey hang on..... I spent around a year ago around £600 on my 8 year old sons 24" hardtail, was it worth it? one word. Yes. If you want your kids to love doing what you do, then don't put them at a disadvantage, spend the money on kit they need to enjoy it just as much as you do. The time I've spend being able to ride with my son I would not swap for the world. It given him confidence in his physical ability and trust in his dad (me) that I won't push him beyond what he is capable of. Plus the laughs, the high 5's, the mild panic as he disappears over the other side of a berm. Neither he, nor I would have swapped this for anything. Would he have had the desire to spend as much time as he does on his bike, with me, on fun trails........ maybe, but more likely, no. Having a suspension fork tuned for his ~30kg weight, 1 decent wide range 1X drivetrain and lightweight wheels (Stans Crest) and large volume tyres means he actually wants to ride the bike, he's not dragged out by me as a chore. Plus, the cool thing is when other kids as school say aren't you into football, he says..... "No I'm a mountain biker". Oh, and...... thankfully I'm not the only parent who's prepared to make a significant outlay in this way. There's now a good little group of parents who's kids are riding blue/red trail centre trails now for him to join up with all utilizing the filtered down tech just like the Norco's featured here.

Video: Get Fired Up - World Cup DH Mashup
Heard over on Vital that Elliot Jackson is commentating on the live show. I thought it was still Warner and Claudio, is Jackson joining as a third commentator. I have to admit I like Elliot Jackson more than both the other two. He's always looking like he's having so much fun on and off the bike.
