Saturday is the first round of the Enduro World Series, with 7 steep and slippery stages awaiting racers. We'll have more detailed bike checks as the week progresses, but for now take a peek at 19 of the bikes that will be tackling the course.
A lot of the bikes were very ugly imo, only the Specialized, Treck and the Santa Cruz looked good. The GT was ok.
Im sure there amazing to ride though.
I agree with you mate, it's not a pretty bike at all but it pedals damn well ! and descend amazing
I'm waiting for the 2016 fox shocks to be released, but for now I never ever use the lockout function on my Radium Pro, and it still climbes like a champ.
I actually really like the look of the cube... Just like the remedy it looks minimal, sleek, and fast. Meanwhile the GT looks like some kind of cast iron construction device for smashing into concrete.
Yeah honestly, these things are all pretty gaudy lookin' to me. The Cubeworth is probably the one I hate the least. Looks the cleanest, but yeah that large yet still seemingly rudimentary rear link looks as silly as it does on an Ells. Actually the new Ellsworths look pretty gnarly though. The front triangles on 'em are really aggressive yet clean lookin'.
I've got one of the team bikes from last season and they are mint....climb really well but ride like a DH bike on the downs. its the best bike I've ridden and I've had a fare few.........
Yeah, when I considered the slash I thought "I want something that pedals and descends" and then went with the remedy. Apparently I wasn't the only one who felt that way.
The Banana skin is his secret weapon, extra grip where needed but some slickoleum retronesss in the dry, XTs better mkre reliable than XTRs thats why, esspecially when replacing pads!
@Maverickdh00 they're talking about the crank bro. Maybe because CG is sponsored by Shimano but wants a Narrow wide chainring. You have a larger choice of narrow wide after market chainrings on XT than on XTR. Probably the reason ...
Maybe its the narrow wide chain ring selection, but why bother running a heavier crank for the ring if you're just going to use an upper chain guide anyways? I think he wanted a burlier crankarm, given how many mechanicals he seems to get.
A few things that caught my eye.....Atherton and Maes look to be sporting some new Shimano AM45 style shoes, they also look to be running KS Levs in favour of the Fox DOSS. Cut down mud kings still their tyre of choice too - surprised a company as large as Conti still haven't produced a decent tyre for this kind of riding/racing yet. Keene on Maxxis tyres too, guessing the Spesh tyres aren't doing it for him! Also strange to see Gracia on a Bronson instead of the Nomad which i presumed would be better suited.
other than one of the stages in the forest and two thirds of the last stage, most of the riding is technical and steep as opposed to super fast and rough. a smaller bike like the bronson or SB5c would possibly better if you were confident and balys enough to get a little loose and fast on stages 6 & 7.
@Steve-de: Conti do have suitable tyres for this kind of racing. Trail King or Baron Project. But if you are factory backed and can specify the exact tyres for a slick track with a threat of rain during the stage then why wouldn't you run exactly what would work best!? It's not like they are the one's trimming the centre knobs with side cutters anyway. The GT/ Conti truck had sets of them already pre-trimmed when they were at Crankworx. Plus the compounds are bespoke for the factory riders (ie more grip and shorter wear than the consumer models).
The thing I noticed is that the Trek team members are the ones least likely to have other brand's products on their bikes. Very clean and sponsor correct. Plus they are on top of the podium. Pretty cool.
I'm wondering why gt made the seat tube so damn long on the sanction.
That made the frame unbuyable for me.
Dan and Martin have to slam the seatpost all the way down either.
@finnrambo not sure about that, but that would only justify the seattube length on the smallest frame. I was about to buy a large one but the seattube is at least one inch too long.
The only rider near the top 20 with a free choice of bike is Thomas Lapeyrie as Sunn haven't got their frames into production yet. He rides and Orbea Rallon.
those looks like some tall chainrings. what size are they running? They look like some could be a 36. with that much climbing? Are some of them running a 2 ring set up (ie. 2 narrow wide rings) I didnt see any as I looked closely at each photo
I love how CG's bike is just a mish mash of colours. He's not all chic like my spacers gotta be the same colour as my rear mech housing and my chainring.Go ride your bike, get it all dirty, scratch it dent it and beat the shit out of yourself while you're at it.
Am I the only one to notice that you can't ride enduro unless you have a go pro or sony action came on contour camera on your hemet? only about 3 riders without.
Where's the top chief joe Barnes? Looking like a tramp who's been dragged through New Zealand backwards while on fire and railing corners like he's on a roller coaster!
YT the sickest looking, the Cube a gually has grown on me, just because it has a rocker, dont mean kt looks like an Ellsworth either, thatsachick comment oh they all look the same doh, way better looking than an Ellsworth and in a badass way! YT rules, Justins Trek looks pretty dope and much better setup than the others, Tracys must work for her but looks so XC, ACs HDR mint as well, no bad bikes here, just personal pref,
Yeah, 100% Aircraft. Cant seem to find much info on it tho, hopefully it will all be the blue/orange Gulf 917 theme. If so, I know what my next lids gonna be

"I am smiling...take the bloody pic"
BTW: I didn't know that Manitou is still producing rear shocks. Are they any good? You hear nothing about them...
Bungle: Oooohhh zippy!
