Appetizer, Anyone? - XC World Cup Round 2, Albstadt

May 27, 2017 at 11:19
by Matthew DeLorme

The schedule here in Albstadt isn't as well thought-out as it was in Nove Mesto; things really get moving tomorrow. Today riders took their last practice sessions and went back to their accommodations to rest up and refuel for the day ahead. Today we saw the U23 men race in temperatures that topped eighty degrees Fahrenheit. Tomorrow is forecast to have higher temps, so expect some spills in the loose, dry conditions. Enjoy this appetizer before the main course.

That first picture is a great illustration of the difference between road racing and mtb racing: roadies use their sinks to keep their blood bags cool, mtbikers to chill their brewskis. Smile

Lack of Free photos is Casting a dark shadow on the UCI.

@jclnv: dear UCI. Please close your eyes and picture my middle finger.

@properp: I see that middle finger in my ass...

C'm on boys what do you expect... it's a huge organisation, like any other on the planet, it is inefficient and corrupt. Because who the F would like to work for UCI? the options are limited: super passionate people, and... losers who try to compensate for their poor life and career choices. A rather extreme set of souls with not much in the middle. Like all high members of a chess, biking or RPG club... Like all people in any non-private company: government, school, whatever. But these organisations DO help run the sport. They are a necessary evil, and everyone who comes and says: it should be done like this and like that, I know how to run things, give me the power, is the biggest douche of them all. For instance the Freecaster - guy withdrew from starting an own broadcast company as soon as he realized he cannot compete with Redbull. A typical douche would got into it anyways shitting on everybody all over the place.

Another option is: we don't really know what that picture of that "cameras forbidden" means and where and why it was taken Smile We can only speculate and get enraged like those time wasting idiots do on the internet

@WAKIdesigns: on point sir. His has nothing to do with the UCI. A crossing across the finish straight would provide a nice photo op, shooting from above. But the local organizer does not allow it. Safety rules.
