2013 - Crankworx - Giant Dual Slalom
Aug 17, 2013 at 2:19
Start here. And prepare to get dirty.
Atkinson versus T-rex.
No start shack to shelter the racers from the steady rain during the Gian Dual Slalom Pro races; just get on the blocks and go.
Ride it like you stole it... beware CCTV in operation.
The rain has been threatening to come down on Crankworx all week, but today it delivered. Welcome to the wet coast.
Marcelo Gutierrez taking on Bren-dawg. The Dawg took the day against the Columbian strongman--must have been the new, aerodynamic haircut the Scott rider got just before the pro race.
With the steady rain during the event, spectators were down, but there were a few dry places to soak in the racing action. Log cabin viewpoint from the Joyride Course.
Ben Leslie and Brian Hunt going toe to toe in the first round.
Bernard Kerr taking down Kirt Voreis.
It takes two to dance the dance the dance of the giant slalom
Two rounds later, it was Fabian Cousine taking down Kerr and going into the semis.
2 months of record breaking blue skies over Vancouver and now this... We'll need better luck for the slopestyle.
Guido Tschugg flashing his brand new Ghost model in the rain.
Nice to have a bit of spy vs. spy action, with the Danny Hart going up against team mate Andrew Neethling. Or is that Rockstar vs. Rockstar? Hart took Needles but washed out against Ryan Hunt.
The two Rockstars go head to head in the unmistakably 'Giant' Slalom.
Jill Kintner and Bryn Atkinson pushing back up for the final against Caroline Buchanan. In it to win it.
In Round one of the Women's final, it was Buchanan edging out Kintner in round one...
...but Kintner came back strong on the pedals after they swapped tracks and took the win.
Surprise fighter of the night in the Pro men: Connor Fearon marched through the field, here going against Enrique Genova in the semi final and taking the win.
In the Pro Men's final, though, Fearon's luck ran out; Graeme Mudd pulling in the last reigns on the Kona rider in the final.
Mudd, strongest man on the hill, lifts his ride in the Whistler mist.
Jill can't stop winning.
3 for 3 this weekend. Kintner won't be racing Canadian Open, but she is all geared up for Worlds.
