32 Bikes From Eurobike 2015

by Mike Kazimer
As Eurobike 2015 began to wind down, we sent photographer Fraser Britton out for one final lap to document the drool-worthy (and occasionally cringe inducing) bikes he found on his journey. What follows is the result of that mission.

 That Spicy is SO ugly
  • 32 7
I agree. It kind of has a 'hunchback of notre dame' thing going on. Great article!
  • 30 4
or coughing up a hairball thing.
  • 99 5
Honestly HOW DARE YOU call anything ugly on this page before mentioning that Cronus
  • 4 4
That Corratec 10hz is pretty tasty though.
  • 31 25
Or that Orange.. that is ugly.
  • 37 0
Imagine the Cronus with an Orange Swing Arm... ugg
  • 5 0
@conv3rt Now I'm trying to figure out how to work the hairball visual into a conversation. Cracked me up!
  • 19 1
The Cronus engineers managed to mix a Slingshot with an Ellsworth, only thing it needs now is a Lefty.
  • 43 0
That toptube must be a mistake. How is a designer and concept artist both going to look at that and say "Yep, I think we nailed it. Let's start production."
  • 6 0
2015 spicy was pretty nice www.pinkbike.com/photo/11161101 and the 2016 zesty still looks ace
but...
this one looks like a melted mondaker crossed with quasimodo
  • 2 0
I think they want to be sure that it is different from the zesty and perhaps an intentional resemblance with the old froggy due to the fact that the new Spicy is supposed to be more capable than the previous one with that increased rear travel. Just my 2c.
Does anyone know if it will still feature a pressfit bottom bracket? Will it have the possibility to install a front derailleur?
  • 1 0
That spicy kinda has the same hump that the Santa cruz Jackal used to have back in the day
  • 23 4
To me ugliest bike award goes to that Polygon..what a mess of tubing..
  • 2 0
what about nukeproof pulse,.... it is nice !!! Razz
  • 1 1
agreed, but they should have used nukeproof wheelsets,
  • 7 7
 That Nicolai's look ugly!
  • 1 0
At least Polygon is Orange. lol.
  • 3 0
I think it's partly the paint job on the spicy. It kind of accentuates the hump back.
  • 4 0
I'm gonna buck the trend and compliment the Nukeproof. Killer lines on that Pulse
  • 9 0
That Cronus looks like an old Klien mantra
  • 3 0
That what I was thinking too
  • 2 1
What's with all the triple chainrings? Are the mountains in Euroland that steep?
  • 5 0
@pbrider "Imagine the Cronus with an Orange Swing Arm... ugg"
That is not swingARM. That is swingLEG!

Cronus + Orange's swingLEG + Lefty = and you get a SQUARE WHEELSET for FREE!
Don't forget about a LIFETIME WARRANTY!
  • 2 0
naah, the Spicy looks more like an agressvie and independent trail cleaver. Actually imo it has one of the sickest lines out there. Orange is d ugle bike!
  • 2 1
I just feel like most of those bikes are just super ugly!!!
  • 1 0
Yep, mostly ugly bikes fosho. (pun intended)... the canyon and the snabb looked deece tho.
  • 2 1
Just can't have enough ugly....i mean ugly as shhhhtttt.
  • 3 0
 @bikecustomizer

don't make me laugh while im drinking! i mean, WHAT? square wheelset?! have my props!
  • 1 0
The Orange is a joke, right?
  • 1 0
Seriously, that Nicolai looks like it was put together by the local 60 year old blacksmith that did fences and garage doors his entire life. I'm not saying they dont ride great, I've never riden one so I have no valid reason to think otherwise, but Nicolai seriously needs to do something about the aesthetic design of their bikes.
  • 127 4
iron horse? woah. bring back the sunday please.
  • 5 0
It looks like an Iron Horse/KHS/Astro Bike...I wouldn't get my hopes up that they designed a new bike.
  • 2 1
I aprecciate it sooo much. I'm only sorry for this Kashima that would be a bit unsmooth after few rides. They should thinka about some built-in fender to protec the damper from everything, that flies from rear wheel towards the shock. Same goes to NS Fuzz.
  • 3 1
I don't know, Id be stoked if iron horse came back swinging even if they're using astro's infrastructure. If you spec and pay for a good frame, then these asian factories will make you a good frame - the last 10 yrs of bike manufacturing have proved that. The first DH bike I ever spent decent time on was my mate's IH Sunday and it was sweet.
  • 4 1
The name was bought by Dorel (who operate the brands Cannondale, Schwinn, GT, Mongoose, Caloi, IronHorse, SUGOI, Pacific, Dyno, RoadMaster, PowerLite, Fabric, and InSTEP) in the late noughties.... at the moment the bikes (www.ironhorsebikes.com)have about as much connection to a Sunday as the Sushi lunch I ate the day before yesterday. I am sure though they didn't buy the brand to continue making catalogue HTs for ever.... Did any of the PB team talk to anyone on the stand?
  • 1 0
Just buy a turner RFX, then put Ironhorse Sunday or 6 point stickers on it. Same thing... Smile
  • 2 0
@dzenyy All NS Fuzz ship with a shock fender, they work a charm!
  • 3 0
If you want the iron-horse Sunday again, buy a last-gen Pivot Phoenix Aluminum...????
  • 1 0
If this is for real I might not still want a Reign or Process.
  • 61 3
Nicolai Headquaters: LETS MAKE THE WORLDS SLACKEST BIKE AND WHILE WE'RE AT IT MAKE IT A BRIGHT ORANGE HARDTAIL
  • 9 3
4 degree HA... in all seriousness it looks like something between 55 and 60 degrees. its ridiculous.
  • 5 2
Looks like it has grearbox and beltdrive too, dang.
  • 4 1
im not sure but it looks like the road bike on the bergamont pic is trying for slackest head angle
  • 12 1
Without some mad professors the world would be a very boring place, be glad Karl makes bikes and not monsters.

Nicolai Headquarters: LETS MAKE THE UGLIEST AND/OR MOST USELESS BIKES EVER AND ACT LIKE ITS TOTALLY NORMAL
  • 6 3
"in all seriousness it looks like something between 55 and 60 degrees. its ridiculous."

Who's to say they haven't got it right?
  • 24 0
Remember guys that it's a hardtail so it'll get steeper when you get on it. That said it still looks slacker than Lars Ulrich playing Battery blind drunk.
  • 3 1
me trying to corner on tight paths with my 65 degree HA
  • 7 0
In general a hardtail will need to be slacker than a full suss to acheive similar steering traits. When loaded they don't have the sag at the back to compensate for the geo changes that happen when the fork sags edit. kanioni got there first and was actually funny rather than nerdy
  • 7 2
NICOLAI / MOJO = BEST IN THE SHOW.
  • 5 1
I can't imagine trying to ride that up a hill.
  • 3 2
Looking at those two, nicolai make machines.. not bikes.
  • 2 1
Last of the good looking Spicy/Zestys was 2013
  • 1 1
Lars can't play Battery sober now, let alone when he's drunk
  • 2 0
I hope Pinkbike gets a change to test out these Nicolai bikes especially the Geometron (www.mojo.co.uk/mojo_nicolai_geometron)!
  • 35 1
Iron Horse coming back from the dead. They should call it the "Lazarus".
  • 9 1
you can find them at your local Sears or Walmart
  • 1 0
Only reason I might not want it, even if this one isn't going to be sold at those spots.
  • 36 3
Man, that Rocky Mtn Altitude Rally edition is hot sex.
  • 5 5
 SERIOUSLY??? That colour is U.G.L.Y.
The designers were sitting around a table and the project head says,"Alright people, what colour should we make this hot new Altitude? Let's pick something sexy, powerful, cutting edge."
The boss's son sitting in the corner grooming his desperately-trying-to-look-rugged hipster beard pipes up,"I know! EGGPLANT!"
Everybody's heads drop as they fire off a few resumes...
  • 3 1
Easy there Bravestar. The colour scheme is a nod to the classic RM Pipeline: photos.nsmb.com/files/2/0/1/7/0/JJs-Pipeline.jpg
  • 1 0
Well, here are a few other classics we don't need a nod to: bell bottom pants, over sprayed 80's hair, and the AMC Pacer. Well, maaaaybe not the Pacer...
  • 26 3
OK I know I'm not the only Banshee fanboy out here that's disappointed they received nearly a spit of coverage from PB. Frown From what I have read and seen from other sources the product changes aren't huge, and they don't need to be. They make awesome alloy bikes for riders. I am however losing my frickin' mind over the newly revised 650b legend, really wanted to see those geo numbers....
So, PB its better late than never I'll be here waiting.
  • 8 2
Seriously.. Been waiting for days now, Rune was getting geo updates and I need those numbers now damnit! Please ????
  • 3 1
Kinda hard to compete with all the new carbon bikes coming out, different colors and stickers and minor geo changes just don't cut it unfortunately... Love my Spitfire V2!
  • 1 1
Here you go The seat angle change for my rune is everything I'd like to have, too bad that requires new frame Frown Keith please ^^ @shutter2ride since banshee is not big and it is pretty much only Keith working on bikes, don't fix it if it ain't broken...
  • 1 0
They included the Orange.... when your beat your beat right?
  • 1 0
Checked geo, 63 degree head angle.
  • 1 0
Cheer @mikekazimer I was hoping for that loving. I appreciate all the great articles you guys keep pumpin out! Cheers!
  • 32 8
Knolly wins it hands down for me
  • 12 12
Knolly just look wrong to me, that transition on the other hand.... Somethings just look right, you know?
  • 4 2
 Knolly FTW. So very nice.
  • 7 2
Agree that Knolly is the dogs danglies
  • 3 1
I'm totally with you. I just finished building my Nomad but maybe would have held off to get a carbon Warden. Not going to lie though, I couldn't be more happy with the Nomad mk3.
  • 1 0
Knolly seems to have a very high bb to me but it could be just me
  • 22 1
Warning, this page contains explicit photos. Bike porn alert and serious risk to your finances.
  • 7 0
NSFW because you'll spend all day on pinkbike and forget to actually work
  • 20 1
Can't wait to hit the bike park this season on my Cronus. Will be laughing at you guys and your over built bikes with their pointless downtubes.
  • 7 1
 craaaack
  • 3 1
Lol.. With that head angle, presumably you mean riding up the bike park? A truly laughable bicycle amongst so many awesome rigs. I hope their designers are suitably embarrassed.
  • 1 1
Make sure you slam in some aircraft wire between the bb and headset. Maybe throw a spring in there too just for good looks. Life sucks without a down tube.
  • 1 0
The Cronus warrior looks exactly like the folding bikes I saw in alibaba, or aliexpress and even ebay. They sold for $150- $200. frame only. The only thing that made the warrior stand out is the bright green paint and the lack of v brake tabs which the ones I saw in alibaba or aliexpress have.
  • 1 0
It reminds me of the old Klein bikes from the 90's Big Grin
  • 2 0
@jozhua130 You are right. The Cronus Warrior is pretty much the same as those bikes. And from the picture above, it seems to be foldable as well. Also in Alibaba, or Taobao, there are many this kind of folding bikes with "HUMMER", "Land Rover", or "BMW" on them, and god they are selling well in China. Moreover, many owners of those bikes believe their bikes are genuinely from those car brands. lol
  • 23 2
 ah that yeti is amazing
  • 6 0
all sram... end of an era
  • 3 0
Shimano announced an xt 1x which is less expensive that sram gx so maybe we'll see an xt finishing kit from yeti
  • 16 1
The new Spicy got a heavy beating with the ugly stick this year, watch out zesty its coming for you next
  • 14 2
Can't be the only one that was stoked to see the SE PK Ripper? Guess I am that old!
  • 7 1
raises hand. i'll take mine with graphite tuffs & hutch pedals, please.
  • 4 1
Yep... still have scared shins from hutch pedals!
  • 13 3
ns makes some of the best looking bikes out there! and would like to see some dh stuff from KTM with all their moto background
  • 1 0
Just ordered a snabb today and now they're coming out with carbon! at least it was on sale.
  • 2 0
KTM bike and KTM moto are separate. They only share branding... NS bikes are really good looking, though.
  • 2 0
Damn right! That Snabb is HOT \m/ (the Fuzz also). NS makes amazing frames but they lack on the component front - they're still struggling to achieve that golden ratio between the finishing kit and the price (they're expensive for what they offer in my opinion). Once they get there though these will be in the list of the hottest bikes available.
  • 1 0
 NS for the win.
  • 9 0
Patrol nicest out of all the bike. So many ugly bikes.
  • 4 0
bikes are getting uglier from year to year...patrol the nicest of the bunch!
  • 1 0
Bergamont is close, but I do love Transition.
  • 1 0
You know the bikes are ugly when the Polygon And the Orange look decent
  • 5 0
What a shame transition increased their prices whereas their (good looking) bikes were close to perfection :
+400$ for the top build (alloy) patrol model (and no XT brakes and drivetrain Frown ...)

+300$ for the tr500 top build
and the "low builds" tr500 do not feature anymore a boxxer WC

Now I have to pray, and hope my bike is going to live one more year
  • 5 0
I love Rocky Mountain's flashback to good times. I had the original purple and lime green Pipeline Wade and Richie rode in Kranked 3. That bike was way ahead of its time! Hey Rocky Mountain, any chance you can hook me up with the new Altitude Rally Edition, just for sentimental reasons?
  • 6 1
GT should be more creative with their names,if you say "GT Force X Expert" it sounds like ex expert which means it would be an older version or not as good as the latest model.
  • 3 0
I thought it was quite clever. When I read it it sounded like "GT For Sex Expert".
  • 9 2
some seriously fugly bikes in this article
  • 3 0
i like the Kross, green yeti, and the GT. Too bad probably never see a Kross over here. Or anything besides Trek, Specialized, and Giant. I bet that green yeti paint comes off quick at the front chain ring and chainstay intersection. I still think that Devinci Hendrix looks like the most fun bike though. ive got my eye on that , or a Capra.
  • 1 0
That Moon has good opinions, but I'd wait for carbon. They've been making carbon XC bikes for some time now, so it should be good.
  • 5 1
dream gig..bike graphic designer circa 2012 - 2016. Put name on rear triangle and a few lines on top tube. Job done, collect paycheck and go riding.
  • 6 0
Kross better have a bike in their lineup called Kriss.
  • 6 0
It's all about the Yeti fellas..such a masterpiece!
  • 3 1
The Yeti SB6C internal cables look nice, but did the BOOST rear end make the chainstays shorter?

The carbon Warden is the first KNOLLY that looks good to me.

The Altitude looks sweet, but not 9 grand sweet...

The Carbon Patrol and the NS Snabb look CLEAN! But it's hard to want to put that much money into a bike design Specialized stopped making 5 years ago. They stopped for a reason...
  • 4 1
That swingarm on the KTM Scarp dam it's thin and the Nicolai Argon AM Belt Drive has a weird angle on the head tube! Otherwise i like what i see!
  • 7 2
That Yeti looks like how the mythical creatures supposedly smell
  • 3 0
All fugly with possible exception of Yeti and Transition. Here's to keeping the same bike for 2016! Like money in the pocket Smile
  • 3 0
It appears that carbon fibre and new tube shaping tech is allowing some engineers to make some bad looking bikes, bad as in "that looks bad", not "bad ass"...
  • 4 3
maybe look at the photos when writing the description?

KTM Glycan?

also lapierre going from having some of the sweetest looking bikes a couple of years ago to this hunchbacked minger
  • 8 4
Why the hell does Orange keep making the fugliest bikes???
  • 8 1
The question is: Why the hell are they so expensive when they are so basic?
  • 5 3
I like the look of the Oranges. Most of the bikes on this page are much worse looking.
  • 4 1
acquired taste, but they are awesome bikes
  • 4 0
I might add that I like the look of them, and would not mind one, but not for that price.
  • 1 0
Orange are moving their production to china for 2016. The delay has been in putting the nets up to stop the workers jumping to their deaths from the company dormitories. Analysts modelling shows this will knock twenty quid off the price.
  • 1 0
Orange bikes, aren't awesome bikes.as somebody once quoted"yesterday's design with tomorrow's prices"Far too expensive, build options are a joke for what you pay,for a basic orange,no dropper, entry level componants, you can get a carbon Capra for example, and various other bikes loaded with top stuff, that will climb and descend far better due to the "modern suspension designs
  • 1 0
@CliffRacer You mean Foxconn don't you? hahhahaha.
  • 2 1
The Kross looks interesting, never heard of it. The KTM & Bergamont, NS Bikes, all these bikes I've never seen on trail, not any version. So cool to see the PK Ripper, I've only seen it in chrome.
  • 1 0
NS don't have much of a presence in the US, KTM stayed out of the US market because they were using Horst & would have been infringing the patents, & Bergamot doesn't appear to have any US market aspirations at all. you can't get Canyon or Rose here either, & the Niccolai importer for NA is tiny, & just started bringing stuff in in the last year.
  • 5 2
some real fugly bikes in that lot urggggh, good to see ironhorse back from the dead though.
  • 4 1
that pk ripper is so old school cool but that yeti is out of control and I need to add that one to my collection soon!
  • 1 1
Best looking bikes in this group for sure. Seeing the name iron horse on anything makes me reminisce, sad that they are walmart quality now. I do wish ktm would seriously invest their time into mtn bikes . They could add so much progression to the sport like they did with moto. While I'm dreaming about that I could pretend that Honda would make another appearance into mtn bikes as well.
  • 3 0
SE PK RIPPER light years ahead of its time, gets me misty eyed and prone to reminiscence
  • 4 0
 That Yeti sure looks happy.
  • 1 0
And also, how awesome is the stem length on that iron horse? SWEET! Clearly they know what they are doing. (especially since Astro lengthened the top tube on these frames from the last version...)
  • 1 0
Some top tubes made me cry... What happened here?? Thanks to canyon, transition and bergamont fot keeping it nice & clean.. if i could buy one of this bikes would be the NS!!
  • 1 0
orange bikes looks always the same no matter the year XDD it would be great to see a new model a bit more changed than a monopivot like kona did going a bit far from faux bar in the Process model..
  • 1 0
Some of those fantastic bikes up there have their front triangles broken by terrible human feat called "trying to hard" or "mental masturbation", in political correction sensitive college circles known as "overengineering"
  • 7 4
Belt Drive !?! Do you think that will replace chain eventually ?
  • 7 2
 i hope so
  • 7 0
Harder to shift gears. But will hold up your pants.
  • 3 0
Well I dont know bout u guys but the winner has to be the NS Snabb.
  • 1 0
 Winner 4sho
  • 7 4
Did I see a new IronHorse??? Perhaps a new Sunday to come???
  • 1 0
 wheres the G-spot
  • 5 2
 That Cronus is so sexy...
  • 6 3
That must be like a 45 degree headangle on that nicolai argon?
  • 4 1
Canyon to the US please!!! and that dartmoor looks quite sexy
  • 3 0
I will be buying my son that SE Ripper; because it is beyond rad.
  • 3 0
Is his Cronus frame welded from an old Dahon folding bike?
  • 2 1
The NS has the cleanest lines; the bh looks like its stuck in warpdrive (looks fast!); and sams bike looks great along w/new la Pierre revitalized frames.
  • 1 0
Tjeres some fuhly bikes in the mix..hunchback bike suck, ..spicy, like ol nomad
  • 3 0
seeing that Nukeproof sure raised my pulse
  • 1 0
This reminds me.......BMX Bandits is on Netflix. Nicole Kidman's first movie. Do you kids remember Nicole Kidman?
Highly recommended.
  • 4 0
Bear did all her stunt work in that movie. Same for eyes wide shut.
  • 2 0
So as far as colour schemes go, I'm guessing 'pack of highlighters' is in this season?
  • 1 0
I love the complete disregard towards color selection all these bikes display. Just spin the wheel and pick three at random and paint em up!
  • 3 0
I love the PK Ripper with the Tuff Wheels.
  • 1 0
Why the hell did Pinkbike ignore Banshee but give Nicolai the light of day? what the hell is up with that?

Good to see them looking at NS but lack of Banshee is crazy!
  • 2 0
Read about 75% of the comments (so far) and realized that the bike industry had its climax... Last year
  • 2 0
just ugly bikes with ugly names. whats the reason of that amount of curves?
  • 3 1
I am diggin that Nukeproof way more than I probably should....
  • 1 1
That Cronus to the Klein Mantras, intersting design though. Mondraker to the Hot Chilies: www.mtb-news.de/forum/archive/index.php?t-431149.html
  • 2 2
Oh yeah...they are sooooooo beautiful. Mighty machines most of us can only dream about. Yeah give it 9 months and you can get them 30% off when 2017 models will be out.
  • 5 4
Nicolai should quit...those bike would make me stop riding if I had to ride them!
  • 2 0
Gotta disagree with you there I'm afraid - those Nicolai's are the two bikes I'd be most interested taking for a razz!

and maybe the yeti's...:-)
  • 2 0
Where the fuuuuuck are the 2016 Banshee Bikes? Smile
  • 3 1
Cronus "the shock shaft destructor" Warrior
  • 4 1
 NS FOR THE WIN !
  • 3 1
the Dartmoor wish park looks like it could be fun to ride,
  • 2 1
Would love to see a review/specs of the new Rally! Thing's an absolute beauty!
  • 1 0
shock link with grease ports is only change as far as I know. All angles etc are same as outgoing model.
  • 1 0
Pretty sure Turner was at Eurobike displaying their new carbon RFX. Coverage?
  • 1 0
 Thanks, didn't see that.
  • 1 0
@polarflux, no problem - we put out 30+ articles from Eurobike - it's easy to miss a couple.
  • 3 0
Slackers. Work harder; faster. Seriously though, the coverage is excellent. The only way you could up your coverage would be to live stream the event. Eurobike is such an incredible and ridiculous window into Black Forest wizardry and atrocious eurofashion.
  • 1 0
Nicolai appear to be the only ones not partaking of the magic ones growing by their local trails.
  • 2 0
I kinda like them too (if that's what you meant). If not, I guess it's.. I kinda like them.
  • 1 0
Aye Nicolai's are what bikes were intended to look like.
  • 1 0
Imagine the stability! Then imagine the switchbacks..
  • 1 0
Looks like YT was at the showdown with a new frame... Oh, wait, it's a nukeproof!
  • 2 1
Iron Horse 9 Point 2 Tho....and the NS fuzz geo looks spot on..too bad im poor tho Frown
  • 2 0
For the most part, every thing is the same.
  • 2 0
Tossed between the rocky and knolly
  • 1 0
Don't ever show me a chronic Walmart bike ever again, I may puke and boycott pb
  • 2 0
You know bikes are getting ugly when a cube is one of the best looking
  • 1 0
I thought Orange might put something new to Eurobike, the Segment has been a rhind for a while now.
  • 1 0
It's so cool to see Polish bikes out there Smile I like Canyon the most. That Spicy is one ugly, expensive bike...
  • 2 0
1980s ski gear wants their neon back!
  • 1 1
Orange... Not sure what's change on this bike for many years...? Rather boring. As for the others, I am sure they'll be over priced and over rated.
  • 1 0
liteville h3 hardtail, wish it woulda made the cut because they deserve to sell lots and lots of those
  • 1 0
You guys do realize that the Cronus is a folding bike, and they just picked the Dahon style decoupler for the front end.
  • 1 0
Remember that time bikes used to look good. Maybe iam gettin old but most of the bikes here look ugly. Except dat yeti
  • 2 1
 IRON HORSE SUNDAY!!!!!!!!!!
  • 1 0
Banshee, the suspense is killing me.........show me the bikes!
  • 1 0
wow, my eyes are are bugging from all the neon and bright colors
  • 2 0
 missed the banshees :/
  • 1 0
What's that new brand of the fifth bike? Cadddddddale?
  • 1 0
The NS Fuzz looks like one of those KTM '6Days' enduro motorcycles.
  • 1 0
 KTM竟然有mountainbike,好吧,我很喜欢它的motorcycle
  • 1 0
 Specialized? am I missing something?
  • 1 0
@mataja, Specialized doesn't attend Eurobike - they hold their own event separately.
  • 1 0
Please make the Lefty go away!
  • 1 0
That NS Snabb Carbon is looking on point...
  • 2 1
No Evil Insurgent? Surely thats the bike of the show!
  • 3 3
 And the Banshee Rune?
  • 2 1
Fingers crossed for the returned of Iron Horse!
  • 1 0
and a reunion with Sam Hill..... Throw that Sunday please!!
  • 2 1

I think it's a folding bike. Hence the lack of downtube. Anyway it needs more than a downtube to fix the ugly.

It's the 2016 version of the Astro produced dual link frame KHS has been using for their 7500/7200 bikes. the KHS team riders have been running these all season. Catalog bike, but not a bad one...

Oh yeah I saw some pictures of the shock layout and it's definitely cut from the same cloth as a KHS. I guess you gotta [re]start somewhere.
