I've worked with the all volunteer crew at Launch Bike Park and they could really use the votes. Their small mountain is all rock so they have a difficult time each year moving dirt. Please vote for them in the downhill trail section!

Launch bike park needs help, it's a small place with lots of potential. All other bike parks are like 4 hours away or more.

Agreed, All the other places have bike parks near them. Launch is my local park and It could defiantly used the grant. It would create many downhillers in the area

I thought that, the UK is in dire need of investment in trails and bike parks... the money would have been well spent here or in another country where the scene is a little less developed than the US or Canada in my opinion.

This is the first year, let them know, maybe they can and will open it up to more countries or have separate grants for different countries in the future. This was so quickly thrown together it was crazy. They announced the grant and you had 4 weeks to submit an application that needed a bunch of letters and proof of approval and shovel ready and then when they called to tell you, you were picked they gave you 5 days to provide media, photo's video of riding and video testimonial so they could make a video for you and you couldn't submit it electronically they had to be mailed... they are still working things out, but I agree, have multiple grants or open it up north america and europe maybe?
either way, this year vote midwest! we need cool places to ride! Elm creek Bike park, Copper Harbor DH, Hobbs Hollow, BC, IN. for flow!

I don't actually know this, but just a guess: because bell is an american owned company, and if they donate this money to a community for trail building it is likely used as a tax reduction. If they do it anywhere else they couldn't use it as a deduction?

That is a good point ebehn that could be the reason right there. So all no US riders hopefully a local company will step up and work with IMBA or another organization and do something like this in your country!

Hey guys, cglasford is spot on in this case. This is a first year program and we've been absolutely overwhelmed with the response in the States. And, we love heearing the enthusiasm from around the world. If we're able to do something like this again next year, we're already thinking of ways to open it up to our friends in Canada and in Europe.

Bell is a company founded in the US (Cali to be more specific.) It would make sense for them to want to foster the riding scene in the US, because let's all be honest here, the MTB scene in the US is not as developed as it is elsewhere. Not to say we're on the bottom of the totem pole, but it's very understandable why this is centered towards US trails.

If anything, instead of complaining, I would be contacting companies big in the MTB world founded in your countries to do similar things such as this. It benefits the companies founded in those countries, as well as the scene there. Win freaking win!

Also, true that James-Carey. I spend about 6-10 hours a week out in the local trails doing work (More so this week, broken ribs after a high speed corner wipe out). People give me crap for what I build, but I have permission, and I don't see those people out there building or helping out, but I damn sure see them riding my work. Building trail and just spending hours scoping the landscape and I guess "feeling" the trail come out is some of my favorite time spent, not only in the woods, but just in general.

Please vote for Launch...the website was a little messed up the first couple days of voting, but it's all been ironed out! I just started riding launch last season, and like -car0401, richwantsout and the ranch said, it's a little mountain with ALOT of rock that is very deserving of some help to run this family based mountain!!!

Facebook gives more people the chance to see what's going on and gets people who aren't usually involved in the bike world, the chance to vote and help their communities and possibly get them interested in the sport I don't see how that's a fail? Without a fb account there's a lot that you won't be able to access in the world. It's not all bad

I would love to see the majority of the funding from companies go to trails! The majority of riders on the trails really have nothing in common with the Pro Rider, sponsored to the nth. degree. The video's and Slope Style comps. will definitely get you some quality entertainment for maybe an hour or so, but a well funded trail system in your back yard will get the juices flowing for years! As for the advertising on the Pro's bike, i am not a believer. I get ideas for a new bike/part/clothing and such from the long term testing such as takes place right here on Pinkbike, and to a lesser degree from the user opinions that follow.

Did they apply? Just curious. It wasn't like Bell and IMBA just came up with this list. Mountain bike groups across the country submitted projects that met the requirements of the grant.

The thing is, in Europe it would take them like 5 years to even get the permission to build anything... or they needed to buy a whole forest as private property first. Haha... not gonna happen
