brendan semenuks bike is a fucking tank. I better its getting lighter than last year with all of the carbon stuff on it... but when I rode that thing before, it seemed a little heavy for its genre. On the positive note, I am sure its never broken for him before during a competition - that shit must be strong as hell. Its way overbuilt though imo.
leon-forfar. Scale shot or stfu. hehehe. The pros above everyone are the most likely to lie. If that bike was 28 pounds, then everybody would love to have it. I mean I would love to have it anyways, but it was like 35 tbh. Trek probably tells him to say that.
vtwintips, i hope u are kidding. most slope bikes are around 28 pounds. a slope frame only weighs like 2-3 more pounds than a hardtail, and if you think about the parts hes running, theyre all top of the line sram prodcts which are super light.
truvativ stuff is pretty heavy tbh. I know the cockpit isn't going to make that much of a difference, but that is just one example of truvativ being heavy. I am sure that there are others.
really not that heavy, but full sram can easily make a ht 25 pounds, so add around 2 pounds for a slope frame, and exactly what fooby said, it can easily be sub 28
Good Truvativ stuff isn't heavy anyway, only the fairly low end cranksets like the husselfelts weigh allot, fairly sure the XO is carbon. If it says XO on it, chances are it's light as fuck.
i know my argument is a lost cause at this point, but I just want to say 2 last things: a hardtail thats built to be 25 pounds is going to have a light frame: like 5 pounds. A light slopestyle frame is going weigh what? 8 pounds minimum I would think. Thats 3 pounds more which just shows that leon-forfar is kind of exadurating. Second, maybe the reason the trek isn't produced yet is because the frame is indeed too heavy for production. I know when I rode his bike, it was much heavier than my own pbike which I had with me at the time. My pbike weighs 30 pounds. This means that it was not sub 30 (A YEAR AGO) and I am just wondering, has anybody actually lifted it up in real life?
I know when I first got to touch it, I was thinking OMG its gonna be like featherlight - like 25 pounds! But in reality, I was quite dissapointed that it is not that different than everybody elses bikes. So I am just saying, ya its flashy, but its no godly bike that will make you go faster because of how light it is. Brendan Semenuk is an amazing rider... Maybe that has something to do with it.
I haven't lifted it up but I know others have said it was super light, and 25lbs is pretty average for a hardtail, built with these parts it would be stupid light, mine was 23lbs with a few pretty heavy parts on it.
It was his remedy, so you guys are right. Still, his remedy was way heavier than I expected lol. And it suprises me greatly that he was using that bike for the contest. It was this bike:
I'm brandon semenuk, uh my poop don't stink um,, yeah,,um oh i try to look pissed off all the time and um you said key events so i better say that too, um yeah got the xo kit on all my bikes.
Umm I don't know if you understand what a legend is? For one thing they have to be over 30 simple enough. But is Semenuk a talent? Yes! Does he have some great tricks in his bag? Yes. Can he grow facial hair? Not that I've seen.
Time will tell if he's a legend. But don't throw terms like that around, it insults the guys like Peaty who are legends.
Peaty.........Does that insult you when people call him a legend? Because...... thats what The Dan crackJonzen guy down on the corner said! He even said it for you Peaty!
Facial hair however is necessary to be considered a legend!
I merely meant that Semenuk has a lot to do in his career before he is considered a legend. That's all, if you dudes in the UK use it cool that's your slang, but when I see legend written, it should be as long established name.
Its all in good fun, regardless of what I say, it doesn't take away from Smenuk's skill or success. I like his riding style and think he's a great rider representing Whistler, BC and Canada.
Sorry fellas. My comment was meant as more of a joke. I agree with all of you haha Mr.Jones that was one of the best replies i have seen on these comment boards. Very level headed. Had he said "hero" then that could be applied as a personal thing. But i do agree that a legend should be truly that. A LEGEND. That is a big ass word to be throwing around and applying to a very young person. I would say he is defiantly on the road to the title!
Is it me or are all these top riders really dopey and clueless to the engineering brilliance they are stunting on, this guy clearly has no idea, he loses track of what he's saying
Bigfoot94 I am Brandon's mechanic and I never respond to forums but you pissed me off and I have to set you straight. Brandon is one of the most technical athletes I deal with from any discipline. We are currently on the fourth revision for the shock with Brandon's feedback and we are getting pretty close to being dialed, we test the new bike with varying fork heights, head angles, different dampers and air springs for his fork, bars, we test different hydraulic gyros, we test different brakes to work with these hydraulic gyros. It goes on...
Brandon spends a lot of time working on this bike so he can have fun, perform, and not get hurt in this dangerous sport and your remarks diminish all our efforts. Please don't talk shit, he is not clueless.
Uh Yes he is Clueless, he's a good rider and all but all the other pro riders at least are able to speak properly about what they are riding when performing bike check's someone's bike checks I personally enjoy watching are those of Matt Macduff, who not only KNOWS WHAT HES TALKING ABOUT, but also is able to pull off some sick riding skillage by not stopping to tell you about his stuff but sitting on his stem basically and riding backwards ! Sememuk is as clueless as they come.
awesome bike! but what a crapy video. What a crapy edit. didnt even take out the sound while filming the parts. and kinda crapy comentator... Still sick Bike!
Always bare in mind all those crappy infomercial products us the same strategy. Testing performance in a lab means very little in the actual performance while riding.
No they make it so they're athletes have a bike to compete and win contests on...the market for slopestyle bikes is non-existent compaired to cross-country or even 29", there's not really any money it it for big companies like Trek.
For the last few years that Trek has been making the one-off SS bikes for Cam and Brandon, the lower shock mount has been fixed. If this one's got Full Floater, then that would be a first; and maybe a precursor to production?

Claymore is really dirt jumpy. People were on hardtails. I don't think he would need that for that contest.

Perhaps we should call him "The Future Legend"?
Why havent they given him the new X.0 mrp guide ?!
does anyone know what i'm talking about?
This bike is awesome!
