Partially hidden behind the Devinci tent at Crankworx, this matte black bike is likely a long-travel prototype of some sort, although no one at Devinci would discuss the bike or its intentions when questioned on the subject. Having said that, we can certainly piece together a few bits of information from what we can see pictured above. Given the 160mm travel RockShox Pike fork bolted to the front, it is obvious that the aluminum bike isn't a full-out downhill machine that would replace their proven 8.5'' travel Wilson platform, especially given the recent success that the bike has seen under Devinci Global Racing riders Steve Smith, Nick Beer, and the rest of the team. Despite those suspicions, we're willing to bet that it is a gravity oriented bike due to the lack of a Reverb remote button on the handlebar (
Devinci Global Racing is sponsored by RockShox) and the high volume Schwalbe Magic Mary tire mounted to the Easton Havoc front wheel. And while it isn't quite clear whether the bike uses 26'' or 650B wheels, we'd hedge our bets that it's the latter considering Devinci's investment in the
recently released 650B Troy platform.
Bearing in mind that short travel downhill and freeride are relatively small categories these days, it is fair to say that this is likely a very niche bike.
