Tiago Ladeira keeps his 5th place Overall, after a brilliant 6th place at the Canadian round. José Borges, current National Champion, was forced to drop out after a nasty crash.

The famous bikepark of Whistler hosted this weekend the sixth round of the Enduro World Series (EWS) 2019.Scheduled with two days of racing, this round had a demanding first special test on Saturday and five special tests on Sunday. With periods of heavy rain during the whole competition, the race ensured a lot of crashes on the most slippery sections.

José Borges, currently sitting in the world top20 and holder of the National Champion title, wasn’t so lucky in Canada. After a good performance in France, the Miranda Bike Parts’ athlete was quite motivated to climb the overall ranking. With some setbacks and crashes the weekend, José Borges abandoned the race with severe pain, while doing the penultimate special test.

At the end, Borges said: “It was a really difficult day for me. It rained a lot and I suffered several crashes. The track was quite slippery, and I wasn’t able to push at a good pace. After falling on the fourth special test, I felt some really strong pain on the wrist and decided to drop out of the race. It doesn’t always go as you plan, but we’ll work to get up the overall”.

On the other hand, Tiago Ladeira continues to show an excellent pace among the Junior class (under-21). Although his first special test was quite “shy” – 15th best time, on Sunday, Ladeira assured a 6th place. With this result, the Miranda Racing Team’s athlete takes the 5th place on the championship standings of the EWS with just two rounds to go.

“At saturday’s “queen stage” I felt a lot of difficulties due to the extension of the course, but today (sunday) I was able to ride at my pace. I started and finished well with a 2nd and 3rd best time, showing that I’ll be fighting for the final podium. I felt good and this is how I want to keep going until the end of the season” concluded Tiago Ladeira, happy with his performance.

The next round of the EWS 2019 will take place in the north American town of Northstar, California in 24 & 25 August. This will be the penultimate round of the competition and will have as background, the iconic Lake Tahoe.
