Mongoose: Consistently making better bike videos than bikes.
(Dec 1, 2017 at 14:27)
what kills me is these mongoose riders are killing it on 3k bikes and i spend 2x+ that and cant ride my bike one tenth of their level. great riders can simply ride any bike, and usually just jump on and go whereas old hacks like me worry about every setting and component and never come close to using the bike to its potential.
(Dec 1, 2017 at 15:51)
: lesson learned then?
(Dec 1, 2017 at 17:40)
Dude, That is too funny!
(Dec 3, 2017 at 15:34)
: It's all fun and games until you get one of those cheap ones for yourself, and realize that you need at least 3 of them for a season.
(Dec 3, 2017 at 17:20)
Putting all my thoughts into a simple sentence. Thank You.
(Dec 5, 2017 at 6:43)
@b-wicked: Yea dude, you're right. I got myself a cheap bike (GT La Bomba) thinking like "great riders can ride any crap" and... I threw it away and bought Spec p3. Happy owner of a good bike now.
(Dec 5, 2017 at 8:52)
To give Mongoose the benefit of the doubt, I went to their website. I had no idea they even sold 3k bikes. The specs on them aren't bad, but they are a little off -- what's up with the seat post that looks like a dropper but isn't a dropper? Anyway, they seem to have a decent offering here and there. I couldn't tell you where they sell the good ones, though. If you google Mongoose bikes, the first two things that come up are Walmart and Target. That's what they're battling in terms of reputation. Honestly, that's what all the good BMX companies from when I was a kid are battling. GT, Haro, Mongoose, Redline -- all a shell of what they were. (Although I think Redline still has a slightly better rep these days than the others).

OK. So, how do I say this... I watched this video several times, just to be sure, and I must say that... it's f*cking perfect! Everything works so nice and smooth. It was pleasure to watch.

nic and paul genovese in a nutshell
(Dec 1, 2017 at 13:23)
Incredible riding. Now all we need is a mash up with fellow rider Chris Akrigg like the edit with Danny Mac and Martin Söderström.
(Dec 1, 2017 at 16:18)
Mongoose make it happen!
(Dec 1, 2017 at 13:05)
Looks like the woods in Return of the Jedi.

Awesome video.. it was perfect
(Dec 1, 2017 at 19:37)
I love everything that Semenuk does, and everything about him, he is the best.
(Dec 2, 2017 at 12:09)
Really smooth riding. Makes me want to go to Walmart, build some ramps out of flat screen tv boxes and pallets, take Mongoose off the rack, and do stuff I never thought i could do before.
(Dec 1, 2017 at 16:56)
So, probably a dumb question, but I have no real world experience with slopestyle or dirt jumping. How are these guys able to do bar spins with disc brakes? I remember back in the old school BMX days people would use gyros for the rear brakes, but I don't understand how that would work with hydraulic discs.
That 3x tailwhip seems like it would result in some pretty twisted brake lines if it was just routed normally.
(Dec 1, 2017 at 17:41)
He is actually using a mechanical gyro. Lots of dirt jumpers use one nowadays.
(Dec 1, 2017 at 18:23)
: Ah, makes sense. So are they mechanical discs or are they using a gyro to pull a hydraulic master cylinder?
(Dec 1, 2017 at 19:33)
They use a mechanical disk with a gyro typically, but there are hydraulic gyro's too. They are called like trick-stuff trixster gyro's I think.
(Dec 1, 2017 at 20:43)
Use can use a gyro, but most people just use a super long hydraulic brake hose. The amount of spins/whips you can do in one direction depends on how long a hose you're using.

In the words of the late great Steve Irwin “CRIKEYS!”
(Dec 4, 2017 at 9:15)
Mongoose deserves props, be cool to see a legend make its way back to accepted bike status.
(Dec 4, 2017 at 12:56)
Always among the best edits and riding. Soo good. Some super clean stomps in there

Great film look! Like the old 3-strip process has been reinvigorated.
(Dec 4, 2017 at 9:19)
Incredible looking trails and a sick edit.

Looks like the Coastal Crew's home stomping ground at the beginning there

My next bike will be a mongoose. And that triple was fucking rad.

(Dec 1, 2017 at 16:21)
These videos are a dime a dozen. When strength, timing, flow are bi-products of an efficient machine it resonates as effortless and timeless. Including DJ Shadow. Massive Attack also comes to mind. Nothing excessive, nothing missing.
(Dec 1, 2017 at 16:45)
Can't tell if hatin' or just misunderstanding of the phrase "dime a dozen." Regardless, should write copy for Gillette Razor commercials.
(Dec 3, 2017 at 6:16)
W.O.W. !!!! Incredible riding, awesome vid !!!
