Kyle's running the unreleased SRAM brake calipers that we first saw on the World Cup DH circuit, along with a BlackBox RockShox Boxxer. He's also rolling on prototype Kenda tires - you can tell because they say so.

DJ's one of just four riders running a coil shock this year. Air shocks have become more common, likely because it's easier to make them firm and progressive enough to deal with the massive impacts they'll be subjected to in the coming days.

Bogg's Machine punk-inspired paint job is a sight to behold.

The 190mm fork has six volume spacers (the max allowed), and with the rebound set two clicks from fully closed. The story's the same with the shock - max volume spacers, rebound set two click from closed, and 250 psi.

William's size medium Shore was painted by Fresh Paints of Whistler. The Suntour Rux fork has 110 PSI w/ 5 tokens and the rebound 90% closed, and the TriAir shock is inflated to 280 psi w/ 5 tokens and the rebound 90% closed. The Hutchinson tires are inflated to an extra-firm 42 psi.

 This poll is a microcosm for the entire rampage event which has descended into a glorified popularity contest.
basically the most popular rider wins regardless of the quality of their run or in this case bike.
An article full of stunningly painted bikes and semenuk wins with a plain white bike with some sharpie on it.
much like last yes event where the popular guy one by doing next to nothing on 90% of the mountain followed by some flippy twirly nonsence on a jump so perfactly groomed it may as well have been made out of plywood.

 While I agree with you that the poll is a popularity contest, I don't think that warrant writing off semenuks run from last year as I remember being pretty impressed by it. Went ahead and rewatched just now, so I could have clarity countering what you consider next to nothing. He's got some super steep lines up top with a lot of exposure, a sketchy drop onto a lilly pad into a bigger drop, a clean toboggan on a cool looking hip, a barspin with a fairly high consequence, a massive backflip on a hip jump, and then a tailwhip on what looks to be a ~50 foot drop.

I think it's easy to dismiss the riding these guys do with how often you see it but very few people think about the difficulty difference between doing a bunny hop barspin vs a barspin over a 30 foot gap. Semenuk has gotten popular for a reason

 @WaterBear: marz was bought by fox and share some tech but its not rebranded. Only there Transfer Dropper post is thr same. Fox moved all their freeriders to Marz. Thats why Rheeder left because he wanted to stay on fox so he packed up.

- At this point we're just a couple bikes away from ditching the Red Bull moniker and just call it Commençal Rampage.
- I sincerely admire Tom Van Steenbergen for his inhuman riding skills and general badassery, but gosh only a mother could love those Hiper frames.
- From the amount of votes Semenuk's bike is getting, It seems the "looks like a Session" punch line will ride with us many more years.

 Best looking bikes I seen in rampage by far. T Mac has an Awesome 2003 Monster T inspired 58 and oldschool Crome / GT logo gets my vote instantly. Also love Kyle Straits paint and Black Box Boxxers are drool worthy. Carson has a nice propain and Kurt has a nice evil. Loving the single crown action I know judges are gonna.

 Ethan Neil's colorway should be called the reverse @dangerholm . Other than that some amazing details that are lost in some of the pictures Like the rainbow flake in Andreu's commencal, and Godziek's incandescent lightning. But my favorite is the Suzuki transition because it goes a step farther with the attention to detail on the Spec.

 Interesting the Transition TR11 is alloy when i'm pretty sure they don't do an alloy version and seems late in the TR11s lifecycle to be releasing one, maybe a one off for rampage so they don't break a carbon one?

 Interesting to see SR Suntour and X-Fusion suspension components at this event. Why aren't more manufacturers specifying them OEM components on Trail & Enduro bikes? If they can last at Rampage, surely, they can last for the rest of us, and maybe provide a more accessible price point?

 Alex's looks amazing but my OCD is hung up on him in the interview saying his concept was for a "Rattlesnake" and I'm pretty sure that is a Cobra. Amazing work on it though and anything shouting out the once in a lifetime gem Jordie is a win in my books.

 Commencal looks classic. Gets my vote. Trek looks like it has 10ft wheel base. Like those modified motobikes that are used to climb super steep hills, but instead reaching the top, they just hit their riders in the head when tumbling down.

 Lots of Mazocchi sponsorships here and that's the only air shock they sell. From what I understand these guys are going air over coil for more progression on the big hits. But yeah it looks like a trail shock to my eye.

What is going on with the eyelet end of the shock body? Right at the end of the tube is a triangle that appears to be polished by wear. But what the hell from? And at BO? Bad alignment?

 That's on the new Rockshox shocks with hydraulic bottom out. I think it represents the portion of stroke influenced by HBO and is intended to help with setup.

 Everyone seems to be talking about paint. Isn't that literally the least important part of a bike? Suspension choice, rims, cockpit setup, tires. This is more important to me than oh the pretty blue one.....

 Not too great this year... Still, tough one. I think tied for first is Tmac's GT and Jax's Transition. Jaxson was my favorite last year. Alex Volokov's bike looks GREAT, even though I'm not a fan of the aesthetic. But the execution is outstanding. Same thing for Kurt, theme is meh whatever but the execution is epic. Maybe same artist? Dylan and Ethan's rigs are okay. Lol at Semenuk's knock off Ian Schwartz frame. Love it. I actually had that frame from Sunday. Props for a throwback aesthetic like that. Disappointed by Commencal this year; looks like they forgot about Rampage and had to cook up a basic theme for all riders in a couple weeks...

 They didnt. Mega custom. Have been looking at it for a while and I think they retrofit a DH cage onto the axs 12speed derailleur, with some fancy custom software to make it all work.

 It's being used as a chain tensioner to allow for some chain growth, but still keeping things tight. You can see something similar on Andreu's bike.

 Yea, there's a lot of single speed's in there -- Reed, Ethan, Szymon, and Andreu like you say -- but the others all seem to be using decicated single speed tensioners

 @overconfident: yeah, as long as the mech is held in place it functions the same. Clutches in mechs are stronger than a lot of sprung chain tensioners so it'd probably give a lot more tension overall.
