I rarely wore gloves when I rode BMX and never had an issue. But it seems every damn time I go out on my mountain bike gloveless I return home with bloody palms. And if I do wear them I almost never crash...Murphy's Law I guess.
A lot of people prefer the feel you can get of the grips/bars riding gloveless. I have to say, on the odd day when it's not raining or freezing over here, I do prefer gloveless.
I can agree with the fact that you do get better sensitivity without gloves (are we still talking about mt biking?), so I tend to wear xc gloves like Fox Incline's because I also like that layer of protection for when I crash. Honestly, I'm just jealous due to my sweaty palms syndrome lol.
That's another good point - who officially made riding with no gloves cool? i.e. what video was it where all the kids saw it and went, "damn i want to be like that guy." I'm going to go ahead and say Dave Cullinan in Headliners. Yeah, I'm oldschool.
I liked the feel of riding glove-less. I lost mine and went without for a while but realized I needed to revert back when I crashed and got holes in my hands. That didn't "feel" to good.
@cuban-b i agree i ride gloveless purely because of the better "feel", you can feel vibrations and such that you cant when you wear gloves. it might sound tedious but i guess its just opinion - also my hands are full of holes!
Its just what feel good for the rider, i cant stand to wear gloves as i loose the feel of the brake lever and just cant ride as well. Theres no advantage or disadvantage to the mass.
Sweaty palms here too. Gloveless is some scary chit for me! Maybe not all, but definitely some of these people do it because they think it's cool. Gloves are cheap. I love the 661 Raji's and usually get them on sale for $15 or less a pair. I have 3 pairs. The palm is so thin, I can hardly tell it's there, but it keeps my wet hands from slipping off the grips.
oh, it's so much fun and the vibe is super chill, just like the video portrays. its worth a trip across the pond for sure. and while you're here, hit up Tahoe and Mammoth as well. then make your way up to Whistler which is a short plane ride away.
Dear Pinkbike,
Please stop perpetuating the idea that mountain bike videos are required to have the worst music anybody could ever possibly make, ever.
Thank you,

99% of the videos on PinkBike is about riding. Can we get some about the parties associated with riding?! You know... friends, hot chics, beer, music and some nice driftin cars!
