We wanted the Sight VLT to not only ride like a Sight, but to look good too! As the guiding principle in our design philosophy, we made sure that the rider and the ride quality of the Sight VLT were top of mind throughout the development process. The drive unit and battery are enveloped into the carbon frame creating a lightweight, stiff and low-profile e-mountain bike. This makes the Sight VLT one of the lightest ones on the market.  @onecutmedia: going for an uphillride in canada without pick up truck or heli seems like much respect for nature to me. Good looking bike.

 Are bikes not able to be pedaled uphill in Canada? Seems like that would be one step better if you’re going for respect of nature.

 jollyjared true! Very true! But what Lasse2000 is tapping into it is most people don't and just shuttle. Yes, yes we all know we can truly pedal any bike up but beings most choose to shuttle up, especially with DH bikes, this concept of a powered bike that looks and rides like a MTB can change the ideology of a lot of hard core shuttle riders! I like the idea, but I too and very with you in that if we can keep it as simple as possible without the usage of power, thats the ideal!

 @nikoniko: Don’t speak for Canada when you say that most people shuttle. Most of us put our big boy pants on and pedal up!

 Sorry, I was just talking in general.
Here in Japan its just the same as everywhere else! It splits riders into groups, those who want to pedal up and those who want to shuttle up!
Lots of people shuttle and enjoy it, so what Lasse2000 was first implementing is a change of thought for those who do so! (sparking new ideas of how to enjoy our bikes!)
A bike like this could turn a group of 10 riders that usually shuttles up, into a group the enjoy pedaling up like those of us the do already!
Sorry, Its not my style to blame countries!

 We talk about respect for nature?
Pick up trucks in america in general have overkill engines and we have to bear in mind how those ebikes batteries are going to be charged, plugging to the wall at home. That electricity is coming from an aeromill or charcoal electric plant?

 @KrazyKraut: You have to think where the energy comes from, not it's final dispersal. The energy in batteries might also have come from fossil fuel.

 And how many fossil fuels are used to extract fossil fuels? Its end endless conversation and the pure fact of idling noisy stinky cars and trucks getting away from the trails is something that would make our nature ride more enjoyable. When Im in the mountains I don't want to hear rumbling engines while Im meditating between jumps and twisty lines! Big Grin

Also please look up how materials for batteries are extracted from land and their potential to danger compared to how we do the same for petroleum. Really research and then answer back! As humans we have to realize that our sun holds the potential to gives endless amounts of energy and we all know we need to step away from the usage of fossil fuels little by little as we progress into other forms of renewable energy, therefore e-bikes for those who like them serve a very vital purpose in doing so!

Oh but you do have a very good point and I do see things from your side too.
The current development of how we created energy needs to change. I know personally from having 39 solar panels on my roof, my house is full electric and other than bad snowy wintery days, we always make more energy than we use every month. Thats all sun power baby! Big Grin

 @oneloosecrank: The primary energy source is important, no doubt, but batteries themselves, their production and their waste are a burden on the environment... Possibly more so than burning fossil fuels.

 Fully expecting to get roasted here.

As more of a xc guy I've already noticed some climbs in my area have some ebikes in the top 10. Will ebikes make Strava segment obsolete or more meaningless than before? I enjoy the fun of trying to crack a top 10 with pros in it but if it's full of ebikes what's the point?

 eStrava needs to become a thing in the future! but to be fair a lot of segments from what ive seen arent completely correct, theres been times where ive even forgot to turn my strava off whilst being suttled up and somehow still didnt get a kom. surely roids arent that good

 E-Bikers will select E-Strava when riding, your faith in humans is to be commended. But E-bikes have made strava pointless, unless its full on DH terrain. ( in my opinion, anyway )

 @Sparkless: I find Strava needs to be taken with a bit of common sense. I know it's different everywhere, but I've seen MTB segments that cross busy roads, blow through traffic lights, start at random points in picnic spots, start at random points in parking lots, end in the middle of streets, end or start after/before a closed gate, have a closed gate mid-segment... The list goes on... And that's before you bring E-bikes and "Strava lines" into the equation.

 Strava mtb segments are pointless anyways. There are too many people using devices with lousy gps systems that have already polluted Strava with garbage. Take a good look at just about any Strava mtb KOM mapping and you’ll see how far off they are. Strava’s algorithms make some crazy assumptions to account for poor gps tracking.

 @Savagegorillas It always surprises me how many people who worry about Strava a lot don't seem to be able to use it correctly. If you scroll through the activity categories there is an "ebike" category for your activity, so they are not classed alongside mountain bike times. And... if you head to your local leader board and start seeing suspiciously fast times, you just flag them and Strava will check the activity to see if they are taking the piss or not - ebike rides should be classed with ebike rides and will be pulled if they are in the wrong category. Panic over.

 Strava has the option to tag a ride as an e bike ride in the settings which then doesn't allow the e bike rider's segments to "compete" with the regular pedal bike rides...basically allows e bike riders to create e segments that don't take away from the "analog" riders. Works well if people use it, and in most cases if an e bike rider starts to snag all the KOMS then usually they get reported to Strava and Strava suggests the rider change the ride designation to e bike...

 @mattwragg: fair point. I suppose it comes down to my laziness and it being a personal problem: I can't be bothered to police the results due to not caring thaaaat much (but clearly enough to complain).

Overall I'm all for ebikes empowering more people to get out and have had good chats with some individuals where lung conditions would normally prevent them from riding but ebikes have given them the ability to ride.

 @bogey: yea dam right. And also where the gps device is put on your person. Take one iphone and put it in your back pack. Take another device, say a samsung and put it in your shorts pocket. Do a segment and see the difference.

A typical 60 second DH segment might have 5-6 seconds difference!

One of the very few ebikes I would ride (Kenevo, Shuttle, and now this) because I hate plus tires, and not so keen on 29ers for anything more than 130mm ish trail bikes.

 Beefed up wheels, hubs?, drivetrain but Guide T brakes on a heavy bike l(lower spec model)? Not sure how much extra Codes are on an OEM build and I know something has to give for price point but I test rode a Giant Trance E 3 with cheaper shimano brakes and it felt super slow stopping compared to my regular trance with Guide R's. Having said that it looks good I'd rather have a small battery and light weight personally.

And I can appreciate weight reduction and all that but integral battery that's not swap-able? missing the BALL!!

 Please bring back the norco truax. Make it a 180mm travel high single pivot emtb. Ditch the defailleur and put a rohloff e-14 hub inside the pivot with the two chain system,B.B. to pivot gears to rear hub single ring)
