@dirtyburger: scarabs have a similar feel to vaults. I’ve had a pair I’ve ridden for 3 seasons, haven’t touched the bushings and they feel just as good as the new ones I just bought for my other bike.

@c25porter: we do have to remember the track is going to be a little faster when the juniors go.. but still it’s impressive and says a lot. Those urban dh races are a different animal that South Americans have mastered and it’s insane to see Jackson do so well in a pretty foreign style of racing. I’m so stoked to see those two televised and see how they hold up on race day against the big dogs. The seasons almost here!

@JohSch: I’ve seen one. It pivots backwards. You just have to loosen the axle, give your cranks half a turn and retighten it to reset it. Exact same process as the udh.

@bman33: seriously. If you look at old frames without hangers, it’s just a little piece of metal hanging down to mount the derailleur to. The new direct mount stuff is just a different work around to the problem those old frames had.

@ryanandrewrogers: you’re talking about 2 products. And yes, there are better options than the big 2, but they are more expensive.
In terms of cheaper, we are looking at what, dvo manitou and mrp? Dvo, who uses heavy coil negative springs in their forks, that aren’t adjustable (preload is not the same as spring rate) and make a terrible knocking sound, or their jade x, whose rezi cap will litterally blow itself off while riding causing catastrophic failure? Or mrp, who has a damper that forgoes precision machined steel valves for plastic sleeves that often break, and is constantly unthreading itself from the crown and leaking. Or manitou, who uses emulsion style dampers that you find on the cheapest Rockshox forks, and have the worst service documentation and customer service?
