ION is set to enter the mountain bike market in 2013 with a strong team of athletes. Initially founded as a water boardsports brand, ION is looking forward to joining the mountain bike world with a focus on freeriding and enduro.
The international Core Team consists of some well-known riders of the 2012 FMB World Tour:
Antoine Bizet, the French rookie from Versailles, signed just two weeks before his second place at Red Bull Rampage 2012. The young Kona rider is considered one of the most progressive and promising big mountain talents.
The same can be said about Italian,
Nicola Pescetto, who is now spending his off-season in Barcelona riding with the Lacondeguy brothers... Nic really turned some heads at the Whip Comp in whistler with his huge, wild, whipped backflips.
Our next rider barely needs an introduction after the year he's had. Crankworx Joyride winner and third placed overall in the FMB World Tour,
Thomas Genon.
Rounding out our freeride team is Mr. Awesome, the UK's one and only
Sam Pilgrim.
The ION Enduro Collective includes
Rob J Heran (above) – a well-known European freeride athlete who will concentrate on enduro races after becoming a proud father this year and
Markus Reiser, overall winner of the 2012 German Specialized-SRAM Enduro Series.
Other additions include
Hannes Klausner and
Tanja Hendrysiak (photo) who will be riding for the the Merida Freeride Team, Megaavalanche-specialist
Max Schumann, the Chinese
Mag41 DH team and the
Enduro Magazine race team.
Among the women, ION will be represented by
Kathi Kuypers and
Michele Quint riding for the Trek Gravity Girls, enduro racers
Julia Hofmann and
Steffi Teltscher (photo) as well as by one marathon-specialist,
Katrin Neumann.
