My mates and I ride quite a nice range of bikes including nomads, sb66's, tricked up mega's etc, another friend has just started out, he's bought a 09 five, makes our bikes seem a bit too serious, it's just simple fun. It doesn't do one thing exceptionally it does everything brilliantly, great bikes imo.

Do all Orange riders take a blanket with them for the mid-ride snack?

Really good video showing the Alpine off. Just seems as if the guy on the Five is holding back on purpose to try and say if you want to ride hard you need an Alpine 160 which really isn't the case... Could just be me thinking too much.

It's an alpine five- not normal
  • 1 0
Yeah I know, but I wouldn't say it's any less capable than a normal Five especially with the guys build kit.

yeah i get ya on that but my five will boost everything my alpine did (now I have a coil on the back). I dunno, maybe the 29er just doesnt feel that good / confident in the air mate

I guess, must just be me thinking too far into it. I noticed you had your Five 650b up for sale, why if you don't mind me asking?
  • 1 0
Unsure really dude, just feel like a change still not 100% on selling though as I'm struggling to find a bike I like better
  • 4 1
Nice vid but the 650 looks like it's havin waaaay more fun
  • 2 0
Thats the point of the vid, the other guy is defo holding back tho.

really?? I thought it was to advertise both versions of the alpine - the alpine 160 & the ALPINE FIVE

Those bars look way too wide for the first rider in my opinion.

  • 1 0
What would you recommend...? Have you tried a Five?
  • 5 1
Alpine can't climb? Mine seems ok! Deffo worth giving both a try though, get to a demo day
  • 2 0
Alpine can't climb? Or your legs are weak?
  • 2 3
no its just heavy I like it but there not worth the money

Iv got a alpine and it flys up the hills. Lie down cheese arm

I rode quite an aggressive build im sure with a proper bulid its sick but it I still think its over priced
  • 8 8
There are so many better bikes out there for nearly half the price...who agrees?
  • 3 1
 Name some?
  • 8 2
Depends on what you call better, handmade in England better. Reliable better, simple but effective design better and arguably some of the best suited to the uk market - as stated, name some. Or you could buy an Asian carbon bike which looks and rides pretty generic

Well... I'm a little biased as I'm an Orange fanboy.. They're simple, nothing fancy, not blingy carbon, no spazzy linkages, but they work so well.
Also completely handmade in Halifax. It might not change your mind, but have a watch of this....

Got a 1997 P7, I'd never sell it as it's perfect. It's done CwmCarn countless times, Cannock many times and over 15000 miles of country lanes, hills, bridle paths. It's not state of the art, its not super light and it doesn't have the greatest kit but its fun, its never let me down and I love it. Best money I ever spend on a bike. Don't even get me started on My Trek EX8 ... damn money pit and no doubt my new Commencal Supreme DH V3 will start hacking away at my wallet. They might be simple, they might look at bit old hat and they may seem overpriced but they last, they are simple to maintain and unless your a riding god they will be way more than good enough for what you need and will last far longer than the majority of new kit.
