Video: Rampage Hopeful Oscar Härnström Rides a Massive Rock Face in Sweden

Freeriding down one of the biggest rock face of Sweden. The face have been on my mind for a while and to be able to ride top to bottom was an unreal feeling! It's crazy steep and super exposed on every direction and pretty much into the wild. The way to get there is through wonder wet mosquito land and one hour hard hike, so the whole crew have been legends.

Pushing up for the first time and fighting off the insane amount of mosquitos on the way to the top and yes you can spot them. Tim aka the action man is rigging up the ropes for the first test run attempt, it was a huge help and I felt much safer when I checked of the first sections if it was even possible to ride or pure stupidity.

One of the best feelings ever to conquer this rock face.

I have never put so much thoughts on one line before, decision decision and damn it felt good that it worked out!

 I think some of the comments are a bit harsh. That looks plenty steep and gnarly to me.

 Yes when the camera crew is roped in on rappel, I reckon it's pretty damn steep.

 Its hard to tell but its obvious in a few clips like the nose manual. That was pretty sick and plenty gnarly.

 That's how Schwalbes always look one run in lol. Seriously though that looks pretty gnar. Just remembering the right line would be a challenge.

 I feel like I'm the only dude out there that doesn't somehow trash Schwalbe tires. Got quite a few kms on them, and a ton of those are on pavement areas while riding to trail heads. Nobby Nics are still in great condition.

 @MTBrent: my point being that the picture is a testament to how gnarly the rock face is ya bell end. Addix tires don’t *normally* wear like that.

 That looks absolutely brutal, and I bet it’s even more unforgiving in real life. So many nooks and cranies to get a wheel stuck in and an OTB on that would surely mean hospitalisation. No desert dust to slide out of / cusion that impact!

 Problem is people get distracted when they see "Rampage"...it said "Rampage hopeful", which I didn't interpret to mean "Oscar should be let into Rampage because of what he showcases in this edit".

Stop comparing this to rampage...that wasn't the intention, clearly. As others have said, I've seen Oscar around the fest series and other badassery...I'm sure the dude can do some insane hucks and tricks.

There's a lot more to this descent than meets the eye anyways...exposure and the blandness of the landscape confusing line choices with big consequence make this something of its own. There are a lot of flashy drops and features that the audience likes at rampage which are mostly point and shoot for the pros.

 @nvranka: wow that place is stunning, and his riding was RAD... but if you’re gonna compare it to Rampage skills, his riding is down the line of Remy Metailler and Remy has never been very high on the Rampage list.... Frown

 I don’t think many of the camera angles help capture how steep it was.
Kind of like when you show your non-biking friends go-pro footage of a sick trail and it like the local park bikepath.

 The main thing about this line is the exposure. Take all the individual features and place them in a bike park and they would still be pretty sketchy, but if you were to fall on this line you would tumble down a 35-45 degree rock face with no means to be evacuated other than by a heli.

 Well gnarly i reckon, its the camber changes on the rock thats impressive, some drops at the top had 3-4 camber changes in them

 Makes me wonder why none of the "BC Freeriders" never rode the big rock faces above the Coquihalla Hwy near the avalanche tunnel?

 I've often wondered if anybody has looked at riding those faces above the Coquihalla Hwy. They are absolutely huge. I suspect that they are just too long and steep.

 Johnny Smoke and I rode down Yak Peak in 2010, beside the Coquihalla Hwy. I've looked at them since 1986 and finally pulled the trigger on those huge granite slab mtns...and got the cover of Bike Magazine with Margus Riga shooting. Scary stuff!!

 yeah those tires aren't meant for rock/concrete surface should get kenda teletonix or Schwalbe equivalent. But that's a good video.

 Yes not that steep I could probably ride down that once by ride I mean possibly ending up at the bottom
