RED BULL JOYRIDE PRACTICE

-PARIS GORE PHOTOS-

The second day of Red Bull Joyride training went down during the heat of the day. Blazing sun, blazing saddles, and no shade kept a lot of riders from going too hard during the 3 hour practice window. However from what the riders were already laying out we are excited for the big showdown on Saturday.

I think we might see a drop-flip barspin this time around. 720 barspin is a given, but I wonder if anyone is going to do a bar-whip-bar combo in their flip or 360. Bar-whip is hard enough! But I wonder if the B-W-B combo is easier to execute than W-B-W in a 360.

Basically what Semenuk was doing last year.

Semen gonna flip can the drop and nollie to tail the boner log.

Im not a huge rogatkin fan but he posted a video of a double whip to bar that he had figured out
  • + 26
do not take me wrong, but it seems to me Brett he is copying Semenuk´s tricks and Brandon is the creative one who always find something new that pushes him one step ahead.
  • + 9
Im sure Rheeder can can can flip the start drop...
  • + 5
What makes you so sure? The picture above?
  • + 1
The difficulty-difference between a drop-flip can and a drop-flip nfcc is kinda big... Taking one foot off while the other is planted on the pedals versus both feet off while trying to huck the flip rotation
  • + 3
From watching revel in the chaos, it would be cool to see semenuk pull off the cork flip off the start
  • + 16
Too bad there weren't any shots of Logan Peat.

so, somebody throw back-flip to front-flip in one jump, cos at present day level of slopestyle anything else won't surprise me
  • - 2
 Is that even possible?
  • + 4
3 years ago I would have asked that at any of todays routine aerial moves by these guys
  • + 9
Killer shots man, always love checking your stuff out!
  • + 4
I don't think Semenuk is going to give Rheeder the triple crown that easily. Semenuk is going to win Joyride this year. Though I'm still rooting for Rogatkin though. But between Semenuk and Rheeder? Semenuk is going to win this round!
  • + 4
"Rheeder can flip drop at the start of the course." that's basically Semenuk's trick- bugger off and do something else! to be fair he'd do anything toe-to-toe with Brandon to get an extra edge to claim the triple crown... Good luck you've got your work cut out Rheeder- Imagine Brandon busting out a bigger trick on the drop in Big Grin

 Dustin Gilding is the man!!!

 Eminem reference! Haha

Rock steps up the side of that landing is some nice detail...Craftsmanship
  • + 2
Why call it copying semenuk? a flip can from a flat drop is a hard trick, if rheeder lands it is because he is progressing not copying, so why no one says Zink, sam pilgrim, carson storch, copy semenuk's flat drop backflip? if semenuk does a frontflip barspin is that copying rheeder or is progressing?
slopestyle isn't all about the tricks, is about style gentleman Wink

Hey pinkbike, you guys should do a bike check with Carson Storch. It's an all new diamondback slopestyle bike and its even custom painted for the event!

Banger Predictions Game. Name one trick that hasn't been landed in a mtb/slope contest that you expect to be thrown!

360 double whip to barspin

I think this combo is doable by both Brandon and Brett

 Flip bar tuck bar

Flip-whip to bar. I know Pavel did Flip-bar to whip in the past, but I think that other combo is new. Also think we're going to see the Cork 720 Bar at this event, not sure if it's going to be landed though! Going to be gritting my teeth watching for sure.

Pavel did flip bar-bar-whip at Vienna air king a few years ago
  • + 2
Pavel actually did the flipwhip to bar, this year at the Vienna Air King best trick! www.youtube.com/watch?v=upengIz9su0 0:35
  • + 1
@thepwnstar39 flip whip to bar firstly landed by Mehdi Gani, second Pavel Alekhin, third Brandon Semenuk.Cork720 Bar Brandon did at run on the District Ride 2014.
I think that we dont see really new tricks..Semenuk will do some bangers, which we already saw in Revel and Rheeder just copying Semenuk tricks, as always.
  • + 2
How about opposite whips from Rogatkin. For a guy that does a lot of tailwhips, he should at least learn opposite whip!
  • + 2
@fatfingur he is goofy foot tricks rider, all his tricks except barspin is goofy. And he cant do opposite tricks,at least I didnt see.
  • + 1
i still want to see a flat drop 360 whip.
  • + 0
@Hyperx yeah, Rogatkin is missing the opposite tricks! He should learn that to add variety. Not just a bunch of repeated tailwhips throughout his run.
  • + 1
I agree Semenuk did the can flip drop 1st but its not stealing a trick or snaking him at all. They're buddies and when your buddy learns a new trick you want to learn it to right? props to rheeder for learning those tricks.
  • + 3
Maybe we gone see the decade to barspin from semenuk !!! That would be really sick !!!
  • + 2
Ok for this report... But "And the many other rider ???"
Really too focused on Rheeder for my taste !! It's pity..
  • + 4
 Oppo Cork 7 ?
  • + 2
The back flip can is SEMENuks trick?

Because no one has ever done that before.........
  • + 2
The flat drop backflip one-foot can was first done on a mountain bike by Brandon Semenuk. So originally it's his trick.
  • + 3
Rheeder and Semenuk have newly painted bikes every contest
  • + 3
I would like to know what brand of gyro Rheeder is running.
  • + 1
 I tought it was Odyssey
  • + 2
That's why it's nice to see Martin's and Genon's run. So much style.
  • + 1
I think the FMB needs something like the "rivality" between Sordestroen and Semenuk, I mean for the show
  • + 3
 Where is Thomas Genon?
  • + 0
Rheeder is killing it out there! Hope he wins this as he deserves it. A million bucks aren't to far out of his reach right now

In a different world called the FEST Series, and attending big mountain contests (Rampage, the only one we got :/ )
  • + 6
 Whip offs?
  • - 3
Rheeder can you come up with at least one original trick?
  • + 0
His flip oppo whip was pretty original, plus he's the only one doing it on a step down, but i kinda agree with you after seeing this pictures... Anyways I think this is going to be the most epic battle between him and Brandon ever!
  • + 6
I have a feeling you wouldn't make it half way down the course.. and you should know, they want to win. It sadly means one upping your competition with an extra barspin, tailwhip, or one footed can in your 720, 3 bar or something.

But I know what you mean, because I'm personally getting bored of flip whips and 3whips etc.. Imagine something like a 360 bike-flip. I bet that is much more manageable than going for 1080 or a quad/quintuple whip or barspin, while looking MUCH better since it's less done in contests.
  • + 9
why cant they just bring back x-ups?
  • + 1
I was referring to the can flip on the first, I mean at least do nac or make an effort to do your own variation
