Eurobike 2016

NS Snab

I was a big fan of the 160mm travel NS Snabb when I reviewed it last year, followed by drooling over the smoothed-out carbon version launched at last year's Eurobike show. For 2017, NS have added a big wheeler to the hard-hitting trail line-up. Primarily designed around 29" wheels, there is plenty of clearance to ride with 27.5+ wheels and tires if you are that way inclined.

NS Snab
NS Snabb Plus
• AL6061/AL6066-T6 alloy frame
• 130mm travel rear paired with a 140mm fork
• Metric shock sizing: 185x50mm
• 29" wheels, 27.5+ compatilbility
• Geo: 67º HA / 74.5º SA / 433mm CS / -42mm BB
• Three sizes: S (420mm reach), M (445mm reach), L (465mm reach)
• Two models: Plus 1 - €4099 / Plus 2 - €2799
www.ns-bikes.com

The Snabb's prime numbers are a 67º head angle and a 74.5º seat angle. Reach numbers are 420mm, 445mm, and 465mm respectively for the three frame sizes, with the stack also growing 10mm per size. Chainstays are tight for a wagon-wheeler at 433mm and the bottom bracket hangs -42mm below the wheel axles.

NS Snab
NS are an early adopter of the metric, trunnion mount style shock.

NS Snab
You might not be into bright colors and coordination, but you can't deny that NS having been killing it with their attention to detail and color-matched products over recent model years.

NS Snab

NS recommend the small size for riders up to 172cm. Medium size for riders between 170 and 182cm and the large size for riders over 180cm. Small and medium sized Plus 1 models are specced with a 150mm Reverb dropper post, the large sizes take advantage of the new 170mm drop version.

NS Snab
NS continue to stick with the tried and true, four bar system, with a Horst-style link. Chainstays are kept tight at 433mm.
NS Snab
Collet style pivots that house MAX Bearings should keep maintenance at bay.

NS Snab
Sram's 11-speed GX drivetrain along with NS' own of brand components helps to keep the Snabb affordable. Around 4099 Euros from your local dealer.

What a beauty, that stem is awesome. Same color on the seat clamp would be $$$$

$4,099 Euros? That's affordable for a aluminum GX bike? Dafaq? Lotta hate on the big 3 but, hate to say it their GX bikes are better priced, better dealer serviced. . . Ok I'm done.
(Backs away slowly)

That stem and the hubs and the spokes...wow I want some

LOVE my SnabbT- such a FUN bike to ride.
It wasn't even on my list, but after one good ride i was hooked (and the competition was pretty damn fierce!)
I'm pretty surprised a brand like NS pulled off such a good model as their first ever trail/enduro full suspension bike. Kudos!

Already have a Snabb T, but this is what I've been waiting for since I saw the prototype on IG a while back!

@Kamao What year and how do you like the T? Been scoping out the T1, Transition Scout and Whyte T-130. I like what i see with the Snabb T but I've heard slightly negative stuff about the rear suspension setup...
  • 1 0
@RideTahoe707: Its a 2015. What negative stuff have you heard? I haven't seen anything negative in reviews about the rear suspension setup. One of the things I love the most of the T is that it pedals quite well and I've had bikes from Giant, Trek, Lapierre and Specialized to compare with. Its basically a fun bike to ride. Even the cable routing was a breeze.
  • 1 0
@RideTahoe707: yeah nothing negative there. I had to warranty a 2015 snabb T but the 2016 is dialed, love it. Rear suspension is everything you could ask for: progressive (2.7-2.3), independent braking (50% AR), negative slope anti squat with 90-100% at sag. Perfect kinematics for trail riding. as long as you're into short chainstays, very little not to like.

The new NS bikes for 2017 are awesome! Not a big fan of this though - why get 29"+. Anyway, see the Eccentric at the back!
  • 3 1
 Yeah, Eccentric 29"!
  • 4 1
"Colour matching" they say... On a totally blacked out black bike in the colour black.
  • 9 1
Take another look, come back when you see it.
  • 2 0
@swamper1: I saw it. The oil effect.. From over 1 metre you can't see it. You don't see it in the first picture. I don't call that colour matching.
  • 1 0
@clarky78: That's because the first pic is a different bike, the one with the 'oil effect' stem in 27.5+ the one in the first pic is a 29er
  • 2 0
The first bike in this post. The fork has a reversed crown/arch. What kind of fork is that?
  • 3 0
 Manitou Machete 29/27.5+ 140mm boost.
  • 3 0
anyone else kind of over the stealth black thing?
  • 1 0
I've got an NS Soda Evo in all-black and it feels...too serious or something. I want to get away from the black & red thing but these days the alternatives are mostly neon or fluorescent.
  • 4 3
Pretty Sexy how much does it weigh and I like how they don't put US dollars up
  • 7 1
You can get a pretty good idea of cost by converting the euro to your own currency.......
  • 4 0
@onemind123: clever, but not always accurate, like last year when giants were significantly less amount in Canada despite the lesser valued Canadian dollar.
  • 2 1
@DirtyRider13: That was only because the dollar changed faster than the supply chain. Trust me that was a once or twice in life time event....it`s done. You will be happy to know we are back to paying way more than the U.S.
  • 4 1
There in euro bike and not everything revolves around the USA
  • 2 1
The rest of the world also likes that US dollars weren't listed, so your not alone there...

@LamaCycles: Do you know if it will be available as frameset?
  • 1 0
@Kamao: HI, yes the Snabb Plus will be available as frameset.
  • 1 2
Nice looking bike indeed! That stem fits really well. Clean lines, ... spoiled by these freaking cables running along the frame. C'mon ! internal routing please. Especially for over 4,000 EUR.
  • 3 0
It looks like it's just the brake that's externally rooted, which is awesome idea if you're ever going to change it. I think NS gives you the option to route externally or internally.
  • 2 0
@pooceq: yes, yes they do since the 2015 model.
  • 2 0
Is the 29 Eccentric steel? They've had the Djambo, but alu. I want steel.
  • 1 0
Yes the 29 Eccentric is steel.
  • 1 0
Looks steel to me. Should be a sweet frame!
  • 3 4
Got to be honest, when I saw what I'm guessing is a 29er eccentric, I lost all interest in the snabb!! Sorry!! More on the eccentric please!!!
  • 1 1
It's a 29er Eccentric with clearance for 27+ as well, simple.
  • 1 0
@James-at-Pedals: thanks for the extra info! Just what I needed????
  • 1 0
What's the deal with the eccentric? It seems like a pretty legit 50% DJ 50% trail combo bike but the Surge seems gnarlier and the paint isn't as...controversial as what they put on the Eccentric.
  • 1 0
@paulaston any word if the soda freeride is coming back in 2017?
  • 1 0
Should be called the 'NS Schwing!' Yeah baby!
  • 1 0
That and the Transition Smuggler's ---- love em!!!
  • 1 0
 A very SEXY looking bike!!!!!
  • 1 0
Damn. This or a Transition Smuggler? Choices choices..
  • 2 0
Wait till its reduced. 2016 NS bikes allready 20% off at some places making them well priced !
  • 1 0
best Paint Jobs in the Game !
  • 1 0
First thing I did is go to the NS site to see if that stem is available.
  • 1 0
 Nice lokking bike
  • 1 0
 If only I had money.....
  • 2 2
 Where's the xl??? Frown
  • 2 0
I love how in dirt jump land there is no acknowledgment of XL anything and yet here we have a dirt jump company putting out a 29er but not in XL. Classic. At least they're consistent.
  • 4 1
Same reach as XL Santa Cruz in the L It has more reach then a XL yt ...
  • 1 0
@alexsin: To be fair the vast majority of DJ riders are not big people, and for good reason. Trail riding can be much mellower, so Clydesdales need apply.
