Intense in the UK recently changed distributor from Extra to Saddleback. Here we see a slightly different version of the M16 and Tracer, all the geometry and layup stays the same but has a lower grade of carbon fiber to bring the price tag down a little. This stealthy M16 comes in just under the £5000 (GBP) mark.

slippery slope your playing on/with.

just sayin..............

 A very slipper slope indeed. E-bikers are greedy business owners cheating on taxes, seducing women and kidnapping kids to make pudding out of their blood. They are responsible for economy going down and big unemployment as a result. Fortunately we have 26WSDAP and Flat Pedal Alliance that will clean our riding society of impurities and weak links. We at 26 Wheel Size Democratic Army Purists have the ultimate solution for no more trail closures. Those lazy, fat basterds will be thrown alive into mass pits filled with battery acid.

 Sois unos putos hipócritas. Seguramente que de no tener "Martyn Ashton" por nombre, no os gustaría ver un ciclomotor en vuestros senderos.

 Oh I am glad my initiative picked up so many votes. So let me present the rest of the ultimate cleansing plan. I came up with it when binge watching Vikings... We take E-bikers and make public executions in Whistler and hang decapitated bodies on the lift. We run it for an hour as a warning. We will also capture the rep at Lapierre who fired Loic Bruni to start E-bike racing and we will put him into Troy Lee designed Iron Maiden. All for the greater good - we don't want any more trail closures.

Keep Pinkbike clean of E-propaganda!

 @WAKIdesigns: Right on cue another round of disinformation and e bike bashing by misinformed people who are likely one of the 57% of detractors who have never ridden an e bike. Do some research BRAIN published an article with a quote from IMBA who said land managers they surveyed have not seen any environmental impact due to e bikes and they are not concerned about it. The concern is a social one due to people like you with attitudes like yours causing problems.
  • 18 5
 @chyu: I propose nominating Stacy Kohut as figure hero for our just cause and sentencing Martyn Ashton for 46 years in gulag.

We must keep MTB clean. The only ethical way of getting up a mountain is sitting on your butt, either on a lift or in the truck. Jury of the great commitee is still out on pedalling up, because this is what lycra XCers do and Enduro has to be watched very closely. I think it is a plot by XCers to undermine downhill and freeride.

 @WAKIdesigns: Kohut, action figure maybe, ambassador probably not.
Different times, different scenarios. Ashton was one of the world best 2 wheeled riders, an incredible ambassador and a larger than life hero in my book. Why the f**k he'd want to ride 4 wheels is beyond me as that couldn't be any further from what he did pre-injury.
Lets face it, had e-bike technology been around in the early 90's then maybe Kohut wouldn't be on 4 wheels now!
I'm saddened to think that once physical ability escapes a rider from riding up, you are happy to tell them thats the end of their passion and they cant do whatever it takes to continue to recreate amongst the rest of us who can make our way up unassisted.
  • 14 7
 @jonnyboy: sorry man............

electric was available in the 90's too. just most of the mtb world wasn't informed.
we did all the homework and more.

electric no.

human power yes.

i'll take action figure fo sho!!

lets see, had i wanted an engine i could have went with an itailan shifter kart, or an atv, or a moded odysee like magoo had, or, or , or....shall i continue?

human powered by choice son, by choice.

  • 7 0
 That's awesome, I absolutely respect that you have been hugely integral in pushing your discipline of the sport, working to develop solutions and paved the way for the accessibility of others to embrace their opportunities, but you're still using lift assistance to make this happen.
Sure electric bikes were available in the 90's, but so were cell phones and you wouldn't have tried to snapchat on a Nokia 5110. I'd hazard a guess that the quad was the best solution to develop - at that time. No doubt NiMh and lead acid would have been a major hurdle.

I don't really see how you can differentiate between the two forms of assistance... he's adding power because he need to always be moving to to maintain balance..

Was WB allowing quads onto the bike park the "start of a slippery slope".. or maybe I'm missing something? Shouldn't all riders be given the same opportunities to develop their unique solution that enables recreate on a level that their physicality allows and to which they want to pursue?
  • 2 3
 @stacykohut: you got no idea
  • 5 6
 @jonnyboy: human powered.

you wanna ride bicycle trails and bicycle parks, you need to be riding a human powered cycle.

2,3. or 4 wheels....why not 5 wheels?.............as long as its human powered.

a bicycle that has a motor or an engine or a device that propels it, is no longer in the human powered category.

see thats an idea or thought.

its what alot of people , including myself, believe in.
human powered vehicles.

no assist other than you and gravity.

pretty simple,.pretty honest, kinda 'pure'.................

i like those traits...........
  • 1 4
 @Dirtshredder123: sure kiddo, sure.
  • 4 5
 @stacykohut: You don't have any idea clearly. An e-bike is not propelled by the motor ha ha. It requires the rider to pedal in order for any assist to take place. As soon as any pedalling stops, so does any assist that may have been happening.

The top speed of the assist is not difficult to reach, at that point the motor stops anyway.

So, to clear up your laughably misinformed ranting -

You 'believe' in human powered vehicles. E-Bikes require human power in order to go anywhere at all, at all times, otherwise they stop like any other bike.
  • 5 6
 @mgolder: i'll have 3 grams of whatever your smokling.
  • 6 3
 @stacykohut: I notice you didn't actually produce any facts that show what I said to be wrong. Says it all really doesn't it about your idea of what an e-bike is.

Also, it's smoking. Not smokling.
  • 5 2
 Can someone please explain me why did I get so many upvotes for endorsing holocaust of people who occasionally ride mountain bikes with electric motors?
  • 2 1
 @mgolder: take a look a kranked electric powered bikes. They have a twist and go throttle, no actual pedalling required. This is likely a similar concept to Martin's bike pictured.
However, I'm still disappointed by Stacey's attitude towards accessibility of the sport and how he can be so vocal in preventing riders (just like him) who are unable to conform to the "tradition" of the bicycle when he was given the opportunity to bring 4 wheels to a sport/venue "designed" for 2.
Always open to seeing how Stacey human powers around say lost lakes technical bike trails or anything else outside a lift assisted bike park. I think I need help understanding how he is doing what he is arguing for?
  • 2 2
 @jonnyboy: That's not an e-bike as we all know them though is it. An e-bike is assisted only. No throttle and no power unless pedalled.
